SMOAK mixes a modern and casual ambiance with traditional Texas-style BBQ. We want our BBQ to be the ultimate comfort food – flavorful and memorable. Our open dining room features spacious farm tables for large parties, a beautiful bar with smoked handcrafted cocktails, and vast windows and garage doors. The food there is incredible. I love going there just for the food, but from the time we were seated till the time they even came around to take drink orders was 20 minutes. We just ended up ordering drinks and our dinner at the same time.

I had the 4 for ¿32?. I chose brisket, pulled pork, half a chicken, and salmon. The brisket, pulled pork, and chicken were amazing. The salmon was good, but I didn’t realize it was served cold. The ¿collard? Greens has some spicy kick to them, but I can’t handle much heat, and they were good. The pit beans were good as well. The Texas Twinkies (bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños) were fantastic, but an order is only 3 of them. The cornbread is delicious, and the honey butter that comes with the cornbread is amazing. Last, the apple crisp dessert was very good, although between two orders, one had a bit more crunch to the crisp, while the other had very little crunch. Overall fantastic experience.

Excellent food and service! The only downside was that the music was SO loud that we couldn't hear the people talking across the table.

Stopped in after arriving in Rochester for the first time. Found the restaurant on Open table and we were not disappointed. My husband had the chicken bbq plate and loved all the layers of flavor along with baked beans and cold slaw. The burrito bowl was lovely. We sat at the bar for the taller chairs, however given the demands on the bartender, probably would have been better to sit at a restaurant table. Everyone was super friendly. Highly recommend.

Reservation for table of 6 was available on Saturday night within a hour. We had a variety of food between us. All orders were delivered in a prompt manner. BBQ was delicious. Be aware of the Texas Hot, it is indeed actually hot. HAHA

The place was very busy (which is fine). More of a family place than a place to go have a quiet meal. Lots of kids and they were louder. Very open area to eat so noise travels. Our waiter was new and being trained in. Despite being new he was very good. The food was ok. I've been to quite a few BBQ places and this one is average. We got the 4 meat platter (Pulled pork, ribs, cheddar sausage, sliced turkey). The pork was very good but the rest was underwhelming. The ribs were not very tender. The sides were beans and mac & cheese. The beans were the best thing we had but the mac & cheese was sub par. Overall the place wasn't bad but I do not have a reason to go back.

On this visit, I had to give the service a little less than what I normally do it was a busy night for them and we waited 25 minutes past our reservation to get a seat. The reason for the low rating is because people were coming in after us and getting seated who didn’t have reservations seems we were forgotten about
