Ran out of tiramisu which was a huge bummer but otherwise the food was great and our wine pairing was a great choice. Octopus was over cooked and rubbery
I have to say the food and service were amazing. But the music was so loud it was nearly impossible to speak to our friends across the table. Way, way, way too loud. Try the Bolognese - I swear it’s like spaghettio’s only better.
Natasha, our friendly waitress was outstanding and was great at recommending four different types of wines for four people. We also liked their patio being located behind their restaurant rather than being on the sidewalk.
Excellent food and service
We were fans of Landini's Pizza for years and were unable to try their upstairs restaurant Risorante Illando because of the large flight of stairs and no disability access. Because of Covid they now have outdoor street level seating and we were able to go for the first time. The food exceeded our expectation so much so we were unable to take home any leftovers. Our server, Carol, was delightful and other staff members were great too. My lamb chops were perfectly cooked and it was a generous portion. My spaghetti was perfectly cooked. Looking forward to our next visit.
We had a good experience thanks to our waiter. We were slightly frustrated because the hostess was a little rude when seating us - my reservation was clearly for 4 people and she acted like it was our fault because she thought the computer said 2. We told her before we walked up that we had a reservation for 4 and she led us to an inside table for 2, it may have been a misunderstanding but she was unapologetic and walked us to a table outside. The food was great and the service from our waiter was quick and seamless - he gave us a great wine recommendation and we enjoyed the food.
We went there because of my wife’s bday and they treated us with love and also surprised her with a delicious cake that wasn’t on there menu.
12/10 I recommend
To start off the bread was not as great as you would expect for a good Italian restaurant. The tomato mozzarella and the olive feta salad looked and tasted like it came straight out of costco. My wife got the short ribs ravioli which was super salty as was my lamb chops. The chops were also undercooked to medium rare rather than medium. I am really not sure how this place got such amazing reviews although I do note that the server was super nice and very attentive.
Really enjoyed Ristorante Illando. The food was excellent and the service was great. Outstanding casual spot in Little Italy. We sat on the back patio. It was out of the way and quiet. Nice change from the hustle and bustle of Little Italy. The food was fresh and delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Definitely would return.
The food was excellent. The most authentic Italian food we have had in California since moving from NYC. The chicken Parm was delicious, so was the lemon chicken. The cannoli and cheesecake was excellent.
Food and wine were fantastic and servers were very kind and attentive. I would highly recommend sitting inside as the ambience is very cute and intimate. Overall my favorite experience I've had dining in little Italy, I would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Waiter was very itaian
Fantastic! Will return when visiting San Diego again.
Waitstaff was Phenominal, attentive and made great reservations.
Food was so delicious. Service was great. Ate on the back patio which was shaded. Would be great to have a few fans back there to circulate the air to keep it cool during the warm weather.
Dads birthday! Service was excellent and we loved the back patio.
Food was great. Servers were stretched thin
Didn't take our reservation
Food was good, service was slow, but the worst part for me was that they charged more on the final bill for the pizza then was listed on the menu pricing. I think that is illegal..
The only problem we had was they didn’t see our reservations from open table. If it wasn’t for it being a little slower, it would have not worked out so well.
The calamari appetizer was our favorite. It’s spicy and cooked perfectly. All other good was fine but just average.
Food was good, service was a little slow but not bad! The music was atrocious lol. I really liked that they had a vegan mini menu!
Food was simple and tasty.
Servers were kind, gracious, and accommodating.
Looking forward to going back some evening and sitting indoors.
Food is good and the environment is nice as well.
The reservation was easy to make, and we were seated quite promptly in one of the outdoor tables by the street. Great ambiance under the string lights, and we could see the Little Italy sign from our seats! The starter breads with balsamic vinegar and oil were delicious. We got an Italian soda, but beware this is just San Pellegrino - which is Italian soda but it was not what we expected and it’s less special when you can just buy a pack at the grocery store.
The unfortunate part of our dinner, making it a less than ideal experience, was the extremely long wait time for our food. We sat and waited well over 30 minutes. We were seated at 7pm and received our food at 7:50pm. The waiters were bustling around, since there is also upstairs indoor seating, so it was definitely a busy Tuesday night. We weren’t even able to wave someone over to ask about our food ETA and no one dropped by to tell us it may take a bit longer. The table next to us waited a really long time to even get their orders taken sadly. When the food came, it looked great and food was hot, which was good. The pasta is cooked so well - the perfect al dente. Unfortunately it was all quite salty, and the chicken was decent but pretty dry. We were stuffed by the end.
There is a male waiter here that is the MVP. He is polite, works hard, and quick. Definitely the redemptive part of our night, along with our super kind and friendly waitress.
The charcuterie and wine we ordered were delicious! The gluten free pasta I got was mediocre. The service was lacking- there were 20-30 minute increments when no one came to check on us or clear the plates we had finished.
Food is very good and a good value, service wasn't great but in current pandemic situation understandable.
Great food! Excellent service by Luca! Will definitely be back!
Best restaurant in little Italy. Without question!
Very slow service and food so-so plus incredibly large servings
We celebrated our anniversary with an amazing wine and food! Luca was our awesome server and knowledgeable about the wine. We will definitely be back!
The cute interior and quiet ambiance is a nice contrast from crowded spaces in Little Italy plus great food and service made for a memorable evening out.
Luca was an excellent waiter, and the food was outstanding. Authentic Italian food with no touristy atmosphere like many of the other restaurants on the same street.
Our server was a gem! Food & service were both excellent!
Good volume of food and at a decent price.
Favorite restaurant in little Italy! Phenomenal authentic Italian food. Bread with oil to start. Delicious Pinot noir. Got the burrata with prosciutto, ravioli and tortellini. Luca was a great server. Overall great experience as always!
Had such a special dinner here. Their food alone speaks for itself. The staff, especially Luca, were so sweet & considerate. After having a poor Italian meal at another Italian eatery in town, it was such a treat to get to experience not only authentic Italian cuisine but also that of high quality. Not from the area, but will definitely remember this spot for our next trip down!
Hidden jewel in little Italy, the stair entrance reminded me of walking into a real old school Italian restaurant in New York City. Arriving on a summer Monday around 6pm, it was quiet so we got to choose to sit next a beautiful window overlooking India street. The food was fresh and all tasted amazingly. I was too full to eat dessert but I had to order to go. It started getting busy around 7 so maybe it was hard to hear because they brought this huge cannoli out on a plate. I decided to take a bite anyway and save the rest to go, but after that first bite there’s no stopping! It was fantastic. The only imperfect thing to mention is that the waiters were all very kind, but maybe spread thin because it took such a long time to order.
Dinner choices were excellent; even my husband who cannot have dairy had a deliciously prepared risotto. We each ordered a glass of wine . . . quite a healthy pour!
