ICU is one of our favorite places to dine while we were in Puerto Vallarta. You will not be disappointed once you enter the front door. Great wine collection from Mexico and all local ingredients which the chef will tell you.
We live in Puerto Vallarta and have dined at many of the “best” restaurants in town. This newcomer is a definite addition to that list and may in fact top it. The restaurant can be tricky to find, housed in a plain, windowless building with just a small “ICU” sign next to a wooden door. Behind the door, the space is modern yet intimate and the personal service from the knowledgeable owners is both friendly and professional. They mix a great cocktail and served me one of the best Cosmopolitans I have had in PV. The cocktail list includes a selection of drinks made from Mexican spirits, and the wine list is comprised entirely of Mexican wines. The a la carte menu is tempting and creative, but we opted for the 5-course tasting menu with accompanying wine pairings – and are glad we did!
The courses were beautifully plated, creative, perfectly sized and, most importantly, delicious! The service was excellent, with the courses well-timed and well explained. The drink pairings were excellent! We had beets 3 ways, aguachile with a squid ink sauce, mahi-mahi with corn and cauliflower carpaccio (my favorite dish of the night), pork belly, and a molten chocolate desert (paired with a tequila – which really worked well).
Two huge thumbs up for this restaurant. We’ll definitely be back!
We had a wonderful experience dining at ICU. Delicious food and excellent service.
Excelente concepto de excelente cocina mexicana contemporanea. Atención personalizada. Gran cava de vinos Mexicanos! Felicidades a los Chefs.
What's to say after you say, fabulous food, great service and wonderful ambience? Oh, you can also say it has a Mexican wine and spirits list second to none!
Every thing is done with great care and pride!

The design and decor of the restaurant is very tasteful. The location is obscure. While the food was good, we felt that the menu was very limited and the wine selection was strictly local wines and we felt it could have been better.
One of the best restraurants in Puerto Vallarta. A hidden gem. The two owner/chefs are so creative in their flavor combinations and food preparation, and presentation. This is a very special place. The food was so wonderful...as well as the ambiance. Service was incredible. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special evening of great dining with friends. We can’t stop talking about it.
Outstanding! From our appetizers to our desserts, we loved it all. We will definitely be returning.
La comida fue excelente y el lugar y ambiente increíbles. 100% recomendable.
ICU has been only open one month, but the experience was excellent. It's a small place but the new décor is minimalist and very nicely done. There were few people during our dining so we had plenty of service which was excellent. The food is the reason to come. After a great complementary appetizer we had a tasty beet salad. For entrees we had the beef and fish specials. The fish was one of the best we have had in PV. The NY steak was okay (hard to find really good beef in Mexico, in my experience). The waiter recommended a Mexican wine (red blend) that we loved. We spent about $130US including one drink each and a shared dessert, similar to a meal like it in Portland.
We will try it again next trip.
