We are regular IHG members who stay at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley twice a year.
This visit we invited our family along & praised the experience we had at Redsalt during our stay in June.

However, this time was definitely a fall from grace.
Our maître d' reception of us & our guests was dismal.

Our appointed waitstaff wasn't aware of basic etiquette such as napkin placing, only did so to 2 out of the 7 guests seated.

Standard procedures such as asking guests for beverage orders did not occur. We had to advise her of the task.
We ordered oysters for entrees and again had to request staff for both entree cutlery & oyster forks/spoons.

Plates were not cleared in timely manners and we were often left to signal staff to clear table after each course.

To order mains we had to request another staff member who would call our waitress for service. Meanwhile throughout the course of the evening the staff were gathered in clusters conversating by the counters instead.

Compared to June when our service was outstanding this was very poor.
So much so that 3 of our guests (including my disabled father) left the dinner before dessert as they were fedup of the long wait.

After this experience, we opted to eat downstairs instead. Whilst the meals are not as cultured, the experience due to customer service out-ways the food options available at Redsalt.

I highly doubt we'd ever return to Redsalt or recommend to others too!

P.s It was also blatantly clear by the staff the tolerance or acceptance they had towards customers of a darker skin pigments. In a multicultural country, where we happen to be born and bred. It was insightful to see the level of racism harbored by staff. Don't think the under the breathe comments, or their gossiping commentary were unnoticed. It only took the dropping of highly priced items before they acknowledged our worth. Both at breakfasts and dinners. Clearly staff have a conception about ethnic patrons & their affordability to dine here.

Good was lovely and staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

My wife had tenderloin steak which was cooked to perfection.

I had lamb backstrap which was beautiful and tender.

My husband and I are Vegan. As there weren't any Vegan meals on the menu, the chef was happy to adjust our meal to accommodate our diet. The meal was enjoyable and the service was excellent.

Visited Pokolbin for my birthday and stayed at crowne plaza dined in Redsalt.wonderful experience from greeting at door to service and food,Chose scotch fillet which was superb and wine choice and cocktails up there with the best.waitress lilli surprised me with free decorated desert platter which my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed.Highly recommend.

Our waiter, Elliot was fantastic!! He was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. He provided outstanding customer service. Will definitely return to Redsalt when I'm visiting the Hunter Valley next.

We bought the $90 meat platter for two. The vegetables were a weird selection that went back untouched and needed to BUY a bowl of chips to make it a filling meal - NOT good enough.
We are local and eat out once a week - we will not be back and would not recommend.

Visited last year in winter and thought the menu was a lot nicer, with more options. My partner was slightly disappointed in the offerings of sides with the steaks (onion textures aren’t a lot and we didn’t know about the need to order sides with it). Disappointed at the entree selections, would love the have the tomato and mozzarella back. Desserts fabulous as remembered. Service was a bit slow, felt they were underprepared for the long weekend. Had to ask for our bread and felt like we wouldn’t have received it if we didn’t.

50th birthday dinner, flew in from western victoria and had a beautiful entree...unfortunately thats all we had for 2 and a half hours before the staff very sincerely apologised then told us they had forgotten our mains and would get our mains asap. They delivered on two scotch fillet steaks unfortunately one was 1cm thick the other 3cm (the hell?) and both were tough and clearly not rested properly and rushed so not really worth waiting for.

Ended up missing out on capping the night with a drive in movie because we waited so long for our dinner. Staff were absoluely kind, apologetic and didnt charge us for our meal or drinks which was appreciated but the truth is the truth and you cant get a 50th birthday dinner back again. Heard far too many apologising waiting staff on our endless wait and far too many other complaints around us.

Overall we enjoyed our dining at the Redsalt.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Food was lovely except the steak that we ordered was not cooked to our liking. We should have said something from the beginning but we didn’t and I’m sure they would have fixed the problem but at the end they offered us free drinks.

Food was good although they forgot about my drink which I’ve had to cancel as I was half way through my main!. Service was average. Restaurant was empty when we arrived. We requested to be seated by the window as there were 4 empty window tables. We were told abruptly that they were all booked. We dined for 2 hours and during that time the restaurant was not full and certainly all 4 tables were still empty. Disappointing really.

Great location & service for the 3 days we stayed at the Crowne Plaza. The 3 course dinners were amazing & fabulous breakfast options. Perhaps a bit of background music of an evening would have topped it off but cannot speak more highly of the food & drink available.

The waitress was very friendly and we could see it wasn’t her fault. But we were seated at a very busy part of the restaurant near the kitchen and right on top of the next couple beside us. No privacy and no atmosphere. We did ask if we could sit elsewhere and were told that was the table we were allocated and not possible to change. Food was fine - no complaints about flavor but also not amaxing, and to get a steak that only comes with mushrooms and no other veg unless you pay extra for a side dish is rather surprising for a 4 star
Resort. Desserts were good. Coffee was nice.

Sat next to a window that was quite dirty and covered with cobwebs on the outside, but inside was a wasp hanging around the window and heaps of dead flies, could do with a good clean, the waitress was great
had breakfast there and it was fantastic

My husband and I were there for Valentines Day Dinner and the food was delicious and the service Fantastic, only problem was it was a bit noisy and there was a couple with children and they were to little I think to be there and made a fair bit of noise.

We had an excellent night. Food was amazing! We enjoyed the 3 course set menu for $70 each - it was great value and excellent selection to choose from. As we were staying at the Crowne, this meant we could all enjoy a few cocktails and/or beers and could easily walk back to our accommodation. I would highly recommend Red Salt!

Greeting on arrival and service throughout good.
Starters good but the whole thing let down by a poorly cooked rib eye. Asked for medium rare and came well done. Service staff great and took the steak off the bill, but sad to see a good piece of meat ruined...
Also sides are absolutely massive and offputting as a result. In addition one of the sides was broccolini and one was seasonal veggies - chose the seasonal veg as knew the steak already came with broccolini but guess what....seasonal veg also mainly broccolini! More variety would have been nice...

We were staying over and had brekkie the next morning too and it was fabulous so we will be back but might not order the expensive steak dish again.

The mains took over 90 minutes to arrive after the entree. When they arrived the meat could best be described as luke warm. At best this was a very very disappointing experience

Food was below average tasting and steak was well over cooked (ordered medium rare). Service started out great, and then went downhill very quickly. Once food was brought to us, we weren’t checked on for over 30 min and took 20 min to get check.

Have been to Red Salt several times this time being Seafood Banquet Large variety of dishes including plenty to choose from for the non-seafood guest Yes we would recommend as we have never been disappointed in casual dining area overlooking pool or upstairs at Red Salt

Happy with the food but not happy with the service I ordered a jd and coke and got given plain coke then asked for another and waited over 45 minutes for the next one. Then we asked for a bottle of wine and the lady had no wine knowledge whatsoever so had to wait for another lady for a recommendation we got to taste test the wine before drinking we liked the wine so asked for a bottle and got given glasses of wine so we had to wait again for our bottle of wine. After the experience I had I would not recommend and won’t be returning
