Red Onion has better Indian food than Tamarind in Tribeca. It’s a small restaurant (although they are expanding into their next door space) and when the kitchen is slammed there can be a wait for food. But in terms of quality, value and generous portions this is one of the best Indian restaurants in the city.

I have had Indian food in London, Vancouver, San Francisco, Phoenix, and New York. The three of us thought this was the best Indian food with ever had. It was not too expensive and had good ambience and good service. I highly recommend this place but make sure you book ahead.

We went to the restaurant early so there were not a lot of people there. The food was amazing, so full of flavor. All of the ingredients were freshly prepared. I will definitely go back. One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to.
