Fantastic dinner and wonderful service
The host in the magician getup seemed annoyed when We showed up for our 630pm reservation. The food was a huge let down. The potato mushroom dumplings and the Georgian soup was the only decent thing. We asked the server for the popular dishes and ordered two of them (the Moscow duck and Corning hen). My duck dish arrived room temp/cold. Horrible. Honey cake dessert took a long time to arrive and we thought it was being made fresh or something but it wasn’t.
Service was meh. Poor guy had to attend to 9 tables by himself. His mask didn’t cover his nose. And they do not seat you 6ft away from other tables. When people made that comment the host just said “yeah I know. This is all we have” and of course being Valentine’s Day no one wants to go and find another place to eat last minute. Made the whole experience uncomfortable.
Great experience. Service took a bit long but with COVID that could have been an aberration so all in all this place is authentic and very good
We had the worst waitress. Mariana. Waited 40 mins for a drink when I asked about it she said it was busy and I had to wait. She came to our table twice once to take the order and once to drop off the check. No I wouldn’t not recommend this place. Unfortunately the rest of the staff was amazing and the food was delicious however her attitude and lack of common courtesy and proper manners was enough for me to never go back.
Excellent food and a good atmosphere. Will definitely go back again.
The lamb and ambience were incredible! I definitely will be coming back on my next visit to San Diego!
Beautiful restaurant, delicious food and drinks, great service
We choose something a little different to celebrate New Years Eve with friends! None of us had tried a Russian restaurant before. We had a good experience here and would go back again sometime 👍
Beautiful, fantastic service, great food! I love this restaurant and can’t wait to return when they open their indoor space.
This was a late night find in San Diego! We have been trying to find someplace to eat, and it was right across the street from our hotel! Service was great and he spoke fluent Russian! We look forward to coming back and having a full meal on the next event, thank you.
Prices do not match service.
Great food and service. Never had Russian food before, was great.
Good restaurant, I would call it new Russian style
Food has gone downhill. Everything overly salty. It is sad as this was a standby. Additionally servers never brought serving spoons for shared dishes during COVID!!!
What can I say great food, great service. Considering our reservation was during COVID we had to sit outside on the sidewalk still wasn't that bad. I would definitely recommend this restaurant the people were great
We waited an hour for our appetizer but it tasted delicious
Overall three stars because the food was wonderful. But the service was poor. We had 12 people in our party, which was reserved two weeks in advance. 45 minutes after we arrived we had ordered our meals and eaten our starters. But our first main meals didn’t arrive for another hour. And they brought out the meals over 45 minutes (after the hour delay) so everyone was eating at different times. And they missed two orders so two of us didn’t eat at all. Worse, another party of 12 came in about an hour after we did, and they got all their starters and meals very timely and finished before we did. We won’t go back, despite the high quality of the food.
I love Russian food. Having said that, I've had much better elsewhere. Perhaps it's a geographic difference, but I was surprised, for example, that the "Fur Coat" herring salad had no sour cream (a staple whenever I've previously had it), and just one small piece of herring on a cracker, rather than lots of herring cut into small bits so that the flavor was more forward and in each bite.
The pelmeni was served with a thick brown sauce on top, which would be better suited for beef stroganoff than on this delicate appetizer.
The service was incredibly slow.
So overall, a big disappointment.
I felt I was at a safe and snazzy bar/restaurant with the animal prize heads and interesting decorations. Beet dishes rule here. Lots of choices, especially for the gravylicious Stroganoff. Lots of drink selections, too. Truang was a great server. Jazz music on a speaker, but one can carry a conversation nicely.
Pushkin is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. The ambience is excellent- classy but relaxing. The menu selection is lovely and every detail of the food is perfect.
Service was slow. Had to ask for a server after 20 minutes after being seated. After 45 min we were still waiting for our appetizers. Appetizers came out after our dinner was delivered. Food was good.
The food and service where exceptional. Ambiance was nice and relaxing. Our server was knowledgeable about the food and wine offering. Will definitely be going back again.
Food and service was great!
The ambiance isn’t the best.
Due to COVID-19 sat outside where street noise was high. Otherwise very good
Exceptional authentic Russian dining. Excellent service and food exceptional. Menus choices has something for everyone. Appetizers incredible.
No one checked on us for 45 minutes. The manager then asked if we had a server. We said we hope so. Waited for our drinks another 20 minutes and then left without ever being served.
Delicious food! They had interesting options for all, I got the potato mushroom pierogies and my husband the salmon .It was hard to choose ! They had russian salads, soups and lots of different and delicious entrees and alot of teas to choose from as well as interesting cocktails .
Everything was mouth watering good also blinis for dessert and the best pickled vegetables made by the owner. It was hard to find a restaurant in town that was nice and had good vegetarian options as well as meat for others and we were happy to find this one and be able to support this local place !
Great place to eat. The best Russian restaurant if you want to try Russian food. Very recommend!
Fathers day
Great service! Delicious food cooked to perfection. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes.
I loved the food my mom is a very picky eater and even she did not have a complaint will be coming back soon
Interesting food choices and wonderful ambiance. Strongly recommend the white fish dish, Georgian white wine and Russian Honey Cake.
While it took a longer time that I thought to get drink or dinner ordered, the food was phenomenal and delicious. Great atmosphere. Fun restaurant. Highly recommend. Perfect for a fun birthday, happy hour, date or just a really great meal
Poor service and not worth it . Second time I’ve been here , love the menu. First time they were sold out of half the menu but we had a good time .
Second time , we went to celebrate and ordered $65 caviar , and asked for the caviar to come out as a first course ... pretty normal . They bring everything out at once and also tell us what they served us borsch, which it wasn’t , and continued to argue us. I had the borsch last time I was there.
The food was extremely good. We had beef stroganoff and rabbit. Both were very tasty. Service was attentive. Good wine list. Prices are very reasonable
excellent food, reasonable prices, good service ,you wont be disappointed.
The food was great the service however was a little off there was a delay And the arrival when we ordered a second round of drinks. The appetizer and an entrée arrived within five minutes of each other, so we were unable to enjoy the appetizer with the concerned the entrée would get cold,
This was my first time to visit this restaurant. My friend and I chose Pushkin’s because we like to try different types of ethnic food. The food was excellent, if not a little on the high side. The service was okay but nothing out of the ordinary. Our waiter was initially very attentive but then seemed to be unavailable when we needed him later, during the meal. Our dishes included Moscow Duck with black currant sause and Khinkali. It was also early in the evening and they were out of two of the teas of our choice.
Pushkin was so delicious. Really authentic and tasty Russian food. The service was outstanding which is so rare in San Diego. We will definitely be eating there again. The honey cake dessert was just perfect, as was all of our food. The caviar is a must try as well!!
Enjoyed the delicious food and Pushkin Cabernet wine. Ivan, owner, Dimitri and Julie, servers, very pleasant and attentive. I am Polish American and found sone of the dishes brought back fond family dining memories. Loved the blini ice cream, fruit desert. Nice Eastern European gem.
