Pujol Barra Tacos calificaciones y reseñas
THE GOOD: The food and service was really great. I've eaten from the a la carte menu on a couple of occasions and I think I enjoyed this experience more.
THE BAD: The taco bar meal comes with beer/wine pairings. We received 1 tiny glass of red and 1 tiny glass of white wine which were far too small for 4 courses. Charge a couple of extra bucks for the meal and stop being so stingy with the wine. Also, there is no decaf coffee despite this being a late night restaurant. We finished at 12.30 AM and there were still people eating.
As expected, food is top-notch. Not first time in his restaurant, so we knew the standard. However service was not as good as before, and this is directly correlated to the overall experience. Overall, the staff were good, but one of the girls behind the bar was acting with too much familiarity for an upscale restaurant. Maybe she was new, bit she should be trained properly. The food service was too slow ... (3 hours for the bar service), so by the time it came around you had already consumed your (tasting size drink), and she was reluctant to serve more, which is not the norm in a establishment of this sort.
This was a truly outstanding dinning experience. The 6 taco courses with a margarita, beer and wine pairing were all outstanding. The scallop tostada stood out but the eggplant, lamb barbacoa, "pig face" and chille relleno courses were all amazing.
After dinner we sat in the courtyard for dessert. This new location is stunning.......Can't wait to come back!!!
Dined at Pujol Barra de Tacos with friends. Great food, even though, as the name says, you will get many (unconventional) tacos, 4 in our fixed tasting menu of 8 courses.
Food is great, after all it's Pujol! The beverage pairing was as expensive as the food menu and disappointing: we started with a sweet(!) mezcal cocktail, then an IPA, and then sauvignon wine, the last one not a great match with spicy food.
I would recommend Pujol Barra de Tacos (i.e. sitting at the bar) only if you decide to go with your drinks of choice.
I had the best meal I ever had at Pujol! They also made sure my dietary restrictions are met (vegetarian) and I still enjoyed my meal as much as my non-vegetarian friend did. The ambiance was perfect, and the staff were very friendly and patient. The drink pairings were amazing as well. Look no further for a special dinner in Mexico City. It is also very filling and truly flavorful and unique. I can't wait to be there again
Although the complete experience was very good, I was expecting a stronger impact on the food. The textures and mixtures were very interesting but I do believe mexican tacos have these must stunning mixtures that were not that used on this format and I would have loved to see some of them.
Ambiance was outstanding and very well created. Service, music, smells and décor fantastic!
I love great food and unique experiences...Pujol comprises both into a fantastic location.
Out of 11 dishes, 3 of them just blew my mind: the callus, the belly taco, and creme bruleé/ice cream. They have genuinely changed my perspective on all their three basic original dishes. This restaurant does allow indeed a general yet very carefully set and well-thought overview of Mexican cuisine. I must say however that the trick could only be completed with the neat service granted by the waiters and sommeliers, Nancy in particular was outstanding! She would not only describe the dishes but answer any questions about them and their corresponding beverages.
I do agree, however, that this hot spot may seem a little over the top in terms of price-value relation. Again, it IS amazing and TOTALLY worth a visit; but I really think it's NOT worth the price as a REGULAR customer (and I really believe that no one should go to this place more than twice a year). There are amazing restaurants around the city with a better price and overall experience result that MUST get to be known as well.
If you're only looking for a great experience no matter the price, then give it a try! And ask for the Omakaze Taco Bar...somehow it doesn't feel as exclusive as the regular dinning but it might result into a truly unforgettable and unique experience.
After a big disappointment with Quintonil, I was worried about spending a lot of money in yet another overhyped restaurant. I couldn't get a reservation for the dining area but decided to try their taco tasting menu at the bar instead. Best idea ever. The tasting menu is around 100 bucks per person which is incredibly decent since it includes pairings. With entree, palate cleanser and deserts it ends up being a 10-12 course meal that includes everything from a tasty cocktail to Mexican Sake, wine, tequila and beer. And don't think everything is going to be in tiny portions, some of the tacos were actually quite big and we struggled to finish! The food is undeniably fresh, it transitions well from seafood to the ''heavier'' meat options and we were excited to try the mole Madre which is part of it. The staff was friendly and the service was fast and organized. They have vegetarian options to make substitutions and they ask if you have any dietary restrictions and preferences. They explain every dish in both Spanish and English. The noise wasn't too much so we could talk, the decor is minimalistic and beautiful. Overall a much, much better experience, I highly recommend you try it!
Food was good although my favorite dishes were those that were not tacos - the "street food" starters, desserts and the coffee were all amazing. As for the tacos, there were a couple really stand out dishes and salsas, but others were only so so. Also, as the meal progressed, I started to get really full. The tacos got larger, which was not necessary also the mixing of different alcohols really did not help.
