Food was exceptional, just disappointed in the service. I had a RSVP for 7pm, when we arrived, the host was on the phone and just gave us the "Hold on one sec" gesture.... that one sec ended up being 5 minutes at that point we were not even addressed by him, someone else had to come and escort us to the table. Despite our request for seats inside, we were placed on the patio under harsh lighting and heat lamps (I was really looking forward to eating inside)...
As mentioned, food was delicious, however my only concern is how rushed we felt while trying to decide on what to order, and when we finally received our food, felt rushed to eat. We hadn't had our food for more than 20 min when we were asked if we wanted boxes already TO GO. And I recommend that the servers ask before reaching for the plates, especially when there is clearly plenty of food left our dishes (some people do not like their plates being touched or being reached over while eating). After a long day, it would have been nice to relax and unwind over the fantastic meal.
I understand that waiting on tables can be crazy/busy, but I urge the management to remind their workers that people do not pay $100 tabs to feel rushed. Our waitress was even speaking rapidly, which added to the chaos.
I was pretty disappointed with the service, perhaps you were short-staffed, but the crowd honestly did not appear to be an a high census. I frequent Amor y Tacos in Cerritos often, and perhaps Playa Amor staff could take some notes from their servers.
Spaghetti in Mexican food? Why yes. Great hospitality. Wait staff was excellent. Food service fast. Very tasty Mexico food. I was not a fan of the mango con chile cocktail (I tend not to like spicy drinks), but enjoyed my margarita. The carnitas melted in my mouth. And the churros...I believe they made them fresh as that was the one item that took a little longer to get to our table. They came piping hot. I loved that I could find parking easily, but the restaurant does not have any view. At least the drinks and food allow you to forget the location is in a strip mall location.
Food was very tasty but service was so lacking it took away from our experience. Our waitress was far from attentive & even after getting her attention twice to order different drinks her attitude & service never improved. We will give them another try & be sure to not be seated in her section.
This place was delicious! They sat us on the second floor, so we had a great view. The tortillas were handmade and the food was delicious. The guacamole and tostadas were fresh. The waitress was very nice and the service was great. I'd definitely go back.
I've reviewed this restaurant bf and my review still hasn't changed. The food is amazing. Everyone who works there is very nice but getting a drink takes FOREVER. The waitress places the order right away but it takes a very long time to reach our table. Our food came bf our drinks!
When I made the reservation, I MN are sure to put request to get seated away from the most noisy part of restaurant. This was because the dinner was with a bunch of friends I have not seen in a long time and would like to catch up.
To my disappointment, not only the request was not honored, the restaurant featured a singer who was shouting to get heard.
Pretty much the noise level was that of loud singer and guitarist, people shouting to each other in attempt to converse and be heard. Utter chaos.
The restaurant can stand on its own merit and does not need distractions like the singer. Actually made evening barely manageable. We had to shout to waiter our orders as well..
I took a friend there for a birthday celebration.
I asked the host to tell my server that it was my friends birthday and the waiter did nothing extra for my friend.
We ordered your lobster and there was very little meat that was edible and very hard to remove from the shell.
I had the smothered short rib burrito with green sauce. It was truly amazing! Killer. There was a lot of meat and it was huge. At our table, my burrito was the star of the night. We all ate on it and I still took half of it home. My husband had the pork belly nachos and he wasn't as thrilled with it. Needed more cheese - so if you order that, ask for extra cheese. My daughter always has the shrimp ceviche appetizer and it is always good. She has it for dinner. The drinks are always good there. Our waitress was awesome - we really liked her.
The eloté (street corn) off-cobb was fantastically flavorful, and the juicy tacos brought delight to the meal. However, the only huge disappointment was the odd-flavored trés leches carrot cake -- a dense, heavy textured concoction with a flavorless cream cheese layer, all stuffed in a glass jar.
Great food, not typical Mexican very innovative.
The only drawback is the seating. You're either in the bar at a hi-top table or in the patio area with plastic curtains for shelter and heaters. The wind whips through the plastic and the heaters are too warm!
Overall food experience was great!!! Need to work on front line reception. She needs to be more organized and ready to seat guests right away (she was still deciding while walking us inside on which table she will put us); more so with guests who made reservations. Waiters were great. I would recommend this to all my friends and family. Thank you.
Disappointing experience. Decided to give this place a second chance due to the mostly good food. Service was slow and not too knowledgable about the menu. After waiting over 15 minutes for a glass of wine, our waitress seemed in a hurry to usher us out at the end of the meal. I won't be back as management does a poor job of hiring servers.
