Too many options on 5th for good food and service.
Unfortunately for us it’s X X X.
This is a special place in Playa. It was fairly unique when we first discovered it 4 years ago. We go back several times each year and enjoy the experience, however there are new places opening each year which up the anti for the old established places. Owner chef Diego will be aware of this I’m sure. The bar drinks are slipping in my opinion!
Food was very good as always. No “fish of the day” to choose from. The raw oysters were outstanding. We both had the salmon on the planks, which was very good. Grilled asparagus rounded out our meal. Took a few “asks” to finally get our check as we then missed the early shuttle to get back to our resort.
Plank was quickly become one of our favorite Playa restaurants. Located only one block off of 5th Avenue, Plank affords you the charm of eating in downtown Playa without the noise and maddening crowds. The service is impeccable from the lovely hostess, Monica, to our wonderful servers Gil, Andres, Luis, Ismael, and Roger, to name a few, who treat us like family. The menu is varied without being overwhelming and the food consistently delicious. The fig and arugula flatbread remains a favorite for our vegetarians, while our meat eaters enjoy the brisket. Already looking forward to our next meal there...
Plank is an excellent place for everything from a romantic date to a family gathering. The food is creatively prepared and presented. Every appetizer and meal we consumed was excellent. Highly recommended!
Very interesting menu, some great sounding dishes. We shared a very fresh Wedge salad to start and had a well priced bottle of Rioja red. The disappointments was our main course: the tuna and mixed grill were like warm at best although we’d been waiting some time (the server did apologize); the mixed grill was very tasty and well seasoned, the tuna rather bland. The high point was the grilled lobster which constituted of three smaller tails - great value, a lot of lobster! Plain, delicious and cooked perfectly. A shame our meal was mixed, to judge by the menu, this is a great restaurant, I think we hit an off night - it was a Sunday
First time in Playa del Carmen with friends and this was the best restaurant by far. Had dinner there one evening and went back for Sunday brunch.
It was very good. Great Beef Wellington and the sides are wonderful.
Side serving were huge
Tasting menu very interesting and great value
Great meal and great service absolutely amazing.
Was disappointed by the experience. I had researched all the restaurants in Playa to pick one for Christmas dinner. I decided Plank was most likely to fulfill our desires for a special meal. However, they were out of raw oysters which we had planned as an appetizer in advance. Mind you, this was a 6:15 reservation, early. Okay, we didn't make a big deal about it. Things happen. Then when I ordered the veal for my entree I was told they were out of it. Sigh. I ordered the Beef Wellington and my husband selected an appropriate wine to accompany our meal. Out of stock! The server recommended an alternative which was wonderful. And the Beef Wellington we both had was one of the best I've ever had. However, I kind of felt like maybe Christmas wasn't an important audience for Plank. Maybe they were saving their fireworks for the New Year's crowd. No, it wasn't a bad experience, but it was disappointing. I won't be looking to go back when I return to Playa.
Food was average at best. Friendly service. Pleasant atmosphere.
For six of us the Plank was an excellent choice. The service was excellent and she had an excellent bottle of Mexican, Baja California wine. Had some excellent appetizers, specially noted were the oysters. For the main courses we tried tuna and Rib Eye with a wild mushroom side dish that was outstanding. Recommend the Plank highly.
Fabulous steak and cocktails 👍
Great meal and service. The waiter Jesus recommended the ribs and they were amazing. Highly recommend!
This was one of the best meals I’ve had a long time topped with great service and for a really great price. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for great quality food in Playa Del Carmen
Brunch was frat but a bit pricey as the buffet bar was light.
Food tasted like cardboard. Would not recommend or go back. Service from Israel was great though!
Great find in Playa del Carmen!
Steaks were delicious and properly prepared, asparagus was a perfect side dish. Wait staff was attentive. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
Amazing!! Everything about this place was top notch!
Fantastic evening! The entire Plank team made our night truly memorable. The food was absolutely amazing! Thank you, Jesus! We can’t wait to come back again.
Very consistent- always great!
Food and service was out of this world. Ambiance was perfect!
Great service food atmosphere
Modern but very cozy. Ambience was very nice but not too crowded. Went in mid July so not too busy that week in playa. Great staff but very small portions of food compared to price.
Great service as always. Had some bad watermelon martinis but they took them off the bill. We try to go a few times a year.
My husband and I went to Plank for Mother's Day brunch. We sat outside and had an amazing meal! I would like to go back for dinner at some point, but their brunch was spectacular, we will go back.
Our dining experience at Plank was exceptional. It was by far the best meal we have ever had in Playa del Carmen. The fantastic food, outstanding service and beautiful design created an evening for 6 adults that will be remembered for years to come. If you are in Playa del Carmen, do not miss a chance to visit Plank.
I thought the prices were way too expensive. On the other hand location was great and the place looks very nice.
Great dining experience in playa. Great service, fish on salty plank simply delicious.
Although is one of good dining experience in playa, this is also one of the expensive one in the city
Really outstanding restaurant in a sea of good restaurants in this town.I had the seared Yellowfin Tuna served in bite sized cuts of the Tuna Steaks beautifully presented on what I believe was a Salt Block.
We had an amazing meal at Plank. The four course tasting menu was wonderful. Fresh ingredients expertly prepared. Service was fantastic. Can't wait to return.
Valentine’s Day dinner was exceptional and our server was amazing
Was a little disappointing. Charged for 2 bottles of water that we thought we free. Scallop appetizer says pork belly was a strip of over cooked bacon. Brie was excellent. 2 had the chicken and thought it a little bland and they hate spices. 1 smoked meat sampler, ribs excellent, brisket great, pork dry. 1 smoked bass, excellent. Ordered side of pzrm potatoes, disappointing, rather dry, Mac and cheese excellent, asparagus, perfect. Sides are big enough for 4 so I would recommend 1 starch side and 1 veg side. For the style of restaurant we expected a better music selection, but it is playa after all. Ps smoked mojito was excellent but not as sweet as normal just so you know what to expect.
This little gem has become our favorite restaurant in all of Playa!! Outstanding food and service, as well as creative cocktails. Fig, goat cheese, and arugala flatbread was fabulous and our server, Josue, was delightful! We will be back!!
Celebrated an evening out whilst staying at Sandos Carocol. The team of professionals who took care of us were nothing short of honourable and professional. Jesus was our waiter for the evening and all of his recommendations were dead on. The ambiance was so comfortable and serene. The food...the only regret was we were not able to sample anymore after our main courses. The ribs were melt in your mouth, baked corn on the cob, asparagus and cauliflower all had unique spices that made them flavourful beyond words. All finished up with great dessert cakes. Jesus was one of the reasons we will return again. Thanks to all of the team for a great dining experience.
