Our appetizers were really good – the watermelon salad and the plum salad. The plum salad in particular looked beautiful on the plate. The hostess was very nice and we were seated promptly. We were there for over an hour before we got our entrées and it looked like other tables waited quite a while as well. Tired decor. No daily specials. Our server didn’t know where the octopus was from, which we suspected was from Spain, so one of the hosts or managers was able to tell us that. Other “upscale” restaurants in Wilmington also serve octopus, even though it’s not local. I guess the restaurants figure they have to have certain things on the menu in any event when there’s seafood bounty in the area not sure why they would serve octopus when it obviously isn’t local ordered the pasta dish because there was nothing else on the menu I wanted to eat or could eat. The menu description for the pasta dish said “local peppers”. I had a long discussion with both the server and that manager about wanting peppers other than bell peppers in the dish. The manager told us that the peppers were not bell peppers so I said please leave them in. When they delivered it, the man put it down and said “no peppers no mushrooms”. I didn’t say anything, but I had told him I did want the peppers that were in it. The pistou sauce was really thick and there weren’t that many clams or shrimp. The kale didn’t work—it was boiled to death and in one small clump. Not sure if they make the sourdough noodles. Other “upscale “restaurants in Wilmington also serve octopus even though it’s not local. I guess the restaurants figure they have to have certain things on the menu. In any event, when there’s an abundance of fresh seafood in the area, not sure why they would serve octopus when it obviously isn’t local.

We had a very good meal at Pinpoint. Our cocktails were tasty, and we were pleased with the per glass wine selections. The server was excellent, and he offered good recommendations about the food and wine. We especially liked the charred plum appetizer, and the seafood pasta had good flavor. The restaurant was busy, and it was really, really loud - hard for us to have a normal conversation without yelling.

Everything I have tried on their current menu has been fabulous. I look forward to trying the octopus soon.

Pinpoint never disappoints! The food is awesome and the staff is better. The drinks are good too. The team was so very friendly and flexible. It was a great night.

impulsive late dinner and what a great choice. we had a watermelon mojito & the brown butter old-fashioned which, yes ma’am! lived up to the name - a gorgeous cocktail. oysters were fresh. the fingerling potato confit starter was one we almost passed and thankfully, our server persuaded us to try. we shared the grouper - delish - and the vanilla bean cheesecake for dessert. all in, an absolutely lovely meal.

We have visited Pinpoint a number of times in the past year and have always been very happy with the food and service. Our experience last night, with some out of town friends, was certainly not up to par. The service and servers were excellent as always, and the starters were delicious. The grilled peaches with goat cheese was perfect, as was the hummus served with your delicious bread. Unfortunately the entrees were not nearly as good. Lion’s mane mushroom was mushy and drowned in a sticky sweet, bbq sauce that tasted store bought. Served with carrots that were overly salted to the point of being inedible and tasteless beans. The local seafood pasta is a good idea with a tasty sauce but served on paparadelle pasta that was much too heavy and thick for this type of dish. Fried chicken was very good, but a very small portion. Overall a disappointing meal.

As always, the food and cocktails at PinPoint were top-notch. The charred eggplant hummus was new and excellent. Ryan, our server was perfect.

Per usual, the Pinpoint Chefs outdid themselves!I had the pasta and seafood dish and it was out of this world. My nephew had the pork chop and he said it was outstanding. Mom and sister had the grouper and there was not a bite left on their plate. The server was extremely knowledgeable and very attentive to us. Loved it!
