Third anniversary of Perch's opening - didn't know that, but lucked into making a reservation for dinner that night. As always, it was an absolutely glorious meal, superb/thoughtful service, delightful humans work here and dayum do they do good work. This is one of the best restaurants on the east coast. No joke.
Delicious dinner! Enjoyed dining mid week, as it wasn’t so crazy busy!
Never disappointed whenever I leave Perch. The food and drinks are always on point. Chef Mike along with those under his tutelage are very creative and makes eating a sensory experience.
I won’t be returning. The one thing that really dislike is learning after the meal is that they automatically add 18% onto the bill. I always add a tip of 20-25%. Here I got an “oh btw…” when I was handed the bill. There are plenty of restaurants for Sunday brunch that trust a customer.
The brunch here is just fabulous. Can't recommend the Benny enough. I've tried both the pork and the vegetarian one now and they were both great. Definitely save room for the espresso martini after! Ryan, our server who was super nice, recommended getting the martini on ice, and it was like a delicious boozy iced coffee.
AmaIng Sunday Brunch!!!
One of our favorite spots. Great food, drinks, and service.
Good was good service was great, sat outside was a bit noisy and there was no real breeze in the tent, thankfully we were able
To sit by the one open side panel so it wasn’t too bad out there. Small plates were great for sharing lots of flavor will go again
Everything was delicious! Great cocktails (tropical mule and old fashioned), amazing app (pork belly) and killer entrees (paella and beef short ribs)! Wonderful & thoughtful service!
Good ambiance and great food. We will definitely come back.
We really enjoyed the ambiance - Pacific retro vibe. Our appetizers were a salad and hanger steak. Salad was delicious, hanger was delivered sitting in a bed of mostly soy sauce - so very salty and not balanced. My fried had ordered scrimp and grits for dinner and we had to ask for a spoon - and the whole think was underseasoned. I had the "sweet and sour" scallops. Scallops were fresh, but were just chard and place on a unseasoned bed of noodles w/veg - also unseasoned. 3 underseasoned scallops for $36 - not exactly a good value. For dessert we had a cheese cake - horrible. My friend had the "apple pie" which was ok, but was icecream with apple in it between two soggy layers of "crust". Very disappointed - won't be returning.
Perch was outstanding. The food was sublime and beautifully presented. We ate slowly so we could enjoy every bite. We kept commenting "It is so good!" We have already recommended it to family and friends.
The only reason I downgraded the atmosphere was that we were eating outside on the parking area. I appreciate the opportunity to dine outside during the pandemic. Once COVID is over, we will definitely try out the interior.
ALWAYS an amazing experience here. The service is the best in Richmond, hands down. The beef udon is my boyfriends go-to, amazing! I go for the seafood dishes—always a hit. You will not be disappointed.
Delicious food, great ambiance, excellent service
I was really looking forward to this experience given the hype around the restaurant. We brought friends from Boston to show off Richmond dining. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. The meals were disappointing from the too tough steak tataki, whole peppers that were hard to eat to the bland paella. My husband had to spend 20 minutes on removing shells from crab legs, shrimp before he could eat his paella and by then it was cold. The watermelon gazpacho we sent back because it tasted ripe. The service was very good as was the overall ambiance. Lastly the check came with 18% gratuity already for our party of 4 which we found odd. We would have tipped more. However the overall value and experience did not meet our hopes.
Great food and service!!
Everything was outstanding. The food was highly creative and delicious. We were well taken care of. Very cool ambiance as well.
Beautiful and delicious cocktails. Ryan, our server, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Food was excellent.
We sat at the bar and the service was just great. The food was a bit of a mixed bag.
The crab dip appetizer was good except for the stale rice crackers (I don’t eat wheat), these were replaced with something like a plantain chip, which was better but way over salted. This was a theme for the night as it turned out.
My wife had the Hanover tomato gazpacho which was delicious in every respect.
Next I had the scallops over rice noodles, the dish is labeled as GF so no need for any substitutions. The scallops were good but the rice noodles were so over salted I couldn’t eat them. I asked that they replace the noodles which they did. Gave me a new plate with the noodles and I transferred the remaining scallops, which at this point were now cold.
My wife had the vegan crab cakes(for the second time!) which are great and taste amazingly like real crab.
The entire dinner was over $220 (wine was $70) w/o the tip for two people and if you’re going to charge this much, act like a real fine dining restaurant and don’t make me replate my food.
Update: emailed with the folks at Perch and upgraded my review.
Food was excellent. A little on the expensive size, but the portion size made it valuable for what your were paying for. I recommend getting an appetizer and an entree and splitting the meal. Good drink concoctions. I never had a mixed mezcal drink, since I usually drink mezcal solo; the Desperate Prayer was excellent. Service was fantastic. They do automatically charge 18% gratituity, but for the level of service I experienced, I tipped them the extra 2%.
I will return back here another time.
This was our second time at Perch. We wanted to give it another shot since it has such good reviews. Started out with a fly at the bottom of one of the water glasses. While we got an apology from one of the waiters, it was then followed up with us finding paper in the amuse bouche. While again, we got an apology, there was never the acknowledgement that we found two foreign objects in our food. A manager never came over, nor did we get an apology or discount at the end of the meal.
The food and drinks were underwhelming. Peach mocktail was particularly bad. It’s an interesting menu, but the food is just ok. Definitely not worth the price or comparable to places like the Roosevelt in terms of food quality. Disappointing overall and wouldn’t recommend it.
Great food. Lovely service. Beautiful decor. A bit hard to hear my dinner companion across the table.
The staff was wonderful and the food was amazing! I would highly recommend as food is made with attention to detail. Wife has gluten allergy (celiac) and no issues whatsoever. Even deserts were gluten free
Another stellar meal at what's got to be one of the best restaurants on the east cosst.
We had a wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary. Great libations as well.
The service at Perch is TOP NOTCH! The cocktails are wonderful, and the food menu is unique and interesting. Our appetizers and entres were all great! Highly recommend!
OMG OMG OMG. I was here 2X in ONE week, just for the Gazpacho. I have NEVER had more flavorful food than in this venue! Not only was the Gazpacho unanticipated and spectacular, but the choices I made for main meals were also from another Planet! Joey, our waiter, was patient; I had tons of questions, attentive, friendly and just the perfect addition to our experience. What a thoroughly delightful, flavorful and extraordinary evening!
The pork spring roll (Lumpia) was enjoyable. The scallop dish my wife ordered was delicious. The Philippine Paella was okay. In the paella, the octopus tasted chewy, the shrimp tasted like plain, scallops were small, but the rice tasted good.
Overall, the ambiance was nice.
The food was outstanding and plentiful. Appetizers were large enough to make a meal!
Service was great and the ambiance lovely.
We dined outside, and felt very safe during our experience. Tables were spaced out very well. Service was impeccable and food was delicious. I had the whole fish of the day -- branzino and it was cooked to perfection.
It was our first time there and I have to say the Ambience is Wonderful. The Hostess, The Service, and everyone we encountered were absolutely Incredible. I have to say the Service was the BEST in Richmond. The Food was Good and we will be back....
Great meal. Amazing Afobo and Kraft cocktails. Great service.
Since we sat outside, the ambience is the outside of a another facing restaurant and parking spaces. However , the weather was good and the enclosed space was pleasant.
always a great time. never disappointed. Chef Mike and his team are always on point - the food: creative, inviting and so delicious, the atmosphere: a great vibe, the staff: attentive and above class
Great waiter. Food was VERY good. Artfully presented and yummy. Gratuity included in the check which I am happy to pay with good service and food.
Well done, Perch!
Really appreciate the opportunity for outdoor dining. It made the noise level a bit higher, but the food more than made up for it!
Delicious small plates - was great to be able to mix and match. Friendly, attentive service.
absolutely amazing. came here for the first time on july 1st and i was so excited to come again. loved our waiter and the food was excellent.
The atmosphere, service and food were all amazing. This has risen to our favorite restaurant in Richmond! Don’t pass up Perch
Fantastic service as always!
