Pavo was our last meal in Mexico for the end of our honeymoon and WOW did it deliver! We started with really creative Mezcal cocktails (Mezcal Manhattan? Yum) Then, after a surprise amuse bouche of chicken satay, we had the mussels and coriander cream soup to start (both amazing). For entrees, I had the seafood pasta (excellent) and my husband had the surf and turf and we both agreed that the filet was one of the best we've ever eaten. They brought us a surprise dessert to help us cap off our honeymoon.
Service was personable and attentive to every detail (one couple was having a beach proposal the same night!); sharing so many stories and background on the region and cuisine. Truly old world charm and elegance; we won't forget our special night.
Everything about Pavo Real is Magical. You need to give yourself some extra time to get to the restaurant since Taxis can’t really go all the way up to the hotel. Then you drive through a jungle to get to this amazing jewel by the beach. The restaurant has about 15 tables. My wife and I went for our anniversary and were treated to an extra special table almost by the sand. Miguel our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and charming. The food was amazing. Right up there with Michelin stared restaurants we’ve been lucky enough to have dined in. The potato soup was a particular stand out in the first course. The rack of lamb I ordered for the main course was also amazing. A perfect medium rare just like I ordered it. Their wine list is also filled with unusual gems. Great Mexican wines from regions other than Baja along with American and European wines from smaller producers. And to top it all off. The prices were incredibly reasonable considering the quantity of the food and the general ambiance. So if you’re in the area and want a special romantic night out, this is the place for you.
There simply not words to describe the setting, and the food and the service are even better than that. If you are wanting to dine on extraordinary food in quiet seaside beauty, there is surely not a better place for that on the Riviera Maya.
Charming, beautiful, and relaxing environment, with outstanding service and cuisine. This was my second visit to Pavo Real, and will be a part of my yearly holiday here on the Riviera Maya.
Food was fresh and fabulous!
El lugar, Ernesto y la comida son las 3 rasones porque regresamos cada vez possible y vamos a regresar el Proximo año.
This is a wonderful place for a special occasion. The setting is beautiful - dining in gardens by the ocean, and the food and service are top-notch. Would highly recommend.
Estaba excelente como cada vez que estaba a Pavo Real
Great location on the beach ... One of the most enjoyable restaurants my wife and I have had the pleasure to dine at ... Food, service and view are incredible .... Look forward to dining there again soon ...
Incredible experience from beginning to end. I felt like James Bond driving up to the villa and being personally greeted by the manager Jan. Perfect spot for a romantic dinner or even a proposal. Views were breathtaking. Hope to come back soon.
We had a wonderful experience at Pavo Real. Beautiful beach setting, lovely drive in through the jungle. Our waiter was most pleasant and helpful but was quite busy with a number of tables and did comp us with a round of Tequila shooters. We had dinners of fish(snapper), steak, and rack of lamb. All were very tasty but the steak and lamb were both more well done than had been expected. The medium steak had no pink and the medium rare lamb was just a touch pink. We had a bonus of watching a next to the water, surrounded by tiki torches, serenaded by Mariachis romantic dinner that looked like something from the Bachelor.
If you are in the area and can afford a nice dinner. Go to the Pavo Real
Went here for Valentine’s Day, what an amazing experience. From first booking until we arrived the owner kept in touch, provided the special menu and made sure we were taken care of. The atmosphere, service and food was perfect. My only complaint is that it was windy that night so the crashing waves and wind was a little distracting, but they offered my wife a shall to keep her warm and we didn’t even notice the wind after a little bit. If we come back again we will definitely eat here again.
We went to Pavo Real by the Sea Sunday a week ago, and I loved it! It was my favorite restaurant in the week that we were there. First, the taxi dropped us at the front entrance to the drive to the beach where you wait before going to the restaurant. Ricardo greeted us at the door and showed me the beautiful garden there with the quiet fountains while waiting for a van to take us to the restaurant. He was incredibly kind and proud of the garden. Then a van took us to the restaurant on the beach where we were met by the waiter in the parking area. Our waiter, Carlos, gave us a choice of tables and recommended drinks. I had a cocktail with a smoky flavor which I am going to try to repeat at home. The view is beautiful, and the meal absolutely fantastic. Service was outstanding. I plan to return to this restaurant every time I am in the area. After our meal, we had a short tour of the beautiful hotel there. The hotel is expensive, but I can see why. It really is lovely.
Love this place, the food, the service, the location! a bit expensive though. We had a great time celebrating my friend's birthday! THANK YOU!
Second time eating here and as usual it was fantastic. Will be back.
One of the really pretty spots in Mexico. Great ambience and food with attentive service.
Beachside views with cool sea breezes.
Absolutely perfect in all aspects
Everything about the night was perfect. From the moment we entered we felt like we were all that mattered. Food was amazing and the views were breathtaking.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great for a special occasion. This restaurant is an adventure in itself. Drive through a couple miles of dense jungle. Then coming out to a building ,which seems like on the edge of the earth. At night it feels totally isolated. Personal service, and inventive foodViews of a small pool and beach makes for great atmosphere. If your a beer drinker, ask about their selection of beers from all over the world
What an absolutely fantastic place to enjoy dinner the ambience is fantastic the staff were friendly and the owner Michelle was lovely would really recommend this to anyone celebrating our just what a really good night
Amazing restaurant and dining experience. Definitely a true 5 star, beautiful view, personal service, delicious food. I travel around the US on business and always try out the newest chef owner restaurants in whatever city I'm in. This was a top of the line restaurants on food and much better service than you get in most high-end restaurants. Pricey but worth it for the overall experience.
We were staying in a all inclusive resort and getting tired of the same food so decided to look for a nice restaurant. I found Pavo Real and it was worth the taxi ride! You have to take a taxi to the outside gate of Amarte villa. Then they take you in and have a escort which drives you down a couple mile jungle like road were we saw wild life and arrived at Kin Sol Soleil villa nestles in on the Caribbean. We were escorted by the general manger to take a seat overlooking the blue waters and ordered refreshments. Then they brought snacks and lighting while they prepared our table which looked over the water as well among the palm trees. Emilio our waiter was very attentive and informative as he explained the history behind these little villas. We order the Beef Stroganoff which was the most tender filet ever and potatoes and veggies and the Lamb chops which were 6 lollipop chops that were Amazing!! They give you generous portions, we could hardly finish as it was so rich and delicious! Before are dinner arrived they brought over fresh baked rolls and bread and small sample appetizer like a Mexican bruschetta. The Ambiance was incredible as was the view and waiters. It is never crowed and they pay special attention to you every need while giving you the privacy to enjoy a romantic evening will not forget!! For those very special occasions you can have a table setup on the beach and they bring everything to you, we saw a gentleman propose to his girlfriend from afar. Very Romantic!!!
What a beautiful spot in Maroma beach with fantastic food and impeccable service! A must try in Riviera Maya.
After eating at an all-inclusive resort all week, we were bored with the same food every day. We wanted a meal we could remember and Pavo delivered in a big way! The seaside location is stunning, and we were seated at a table overlooking the water while we enjoyed a welcome cocktail. We were then seated at an outdoor table and were waited on hand and foot. The good was outstanding; I had the snapper and my daughter the seafood risotto. We left full and satisfied. I highly recommend this hidden gem!
Muchas gracias Gustavo, Jony, y Michel
Amazing restaurant and staff located in a secluded cove that's a challenge to find. Truly exceptional cuisine. One of the five best restaurants we've visited anywhere in the world!
Lunch on the beach. It was like paradise in a dream. Wonderful appetizers and main courses of seafood including shrimp and grouper. Service was exceptional
We took a cab from Playa del Carmen which cost us about $25 one way, but worth the drive! My boyfriend had the grilled shrimp salad, which was delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the goat cheese salad, yum! My entree (I had the chicken with grilled figs) was a little over cooked, but had good flavors. My boyfriend had the beef stroganoff, beef was cooked perfectly. I wish we would have been there before sunset so we could take the view in 100%, but we sat outside and the ambiance was wonderful.
Excellent place. Great atmosphere and food. For romantic dinner or verynice evening with friends.
A wonderful night, amazing ambience and incredible food! My family loved it and will make this our first stop when we come back!
Nice ambiance and good service. Traditional courses, no surprises... worth the rather long and exiting drive through the jungle (!) to get there. Soothing sound from the ocean during dinner.
Un événement paradisiaque à tout point de vue: nourriture, service, todo 👍😍
Wonderful experience! You park outside the gate and they take you in a private van down to the restaurant about 5 minutes away. This is a very exclusive hotel with only ten rooms. The restaurant itself is tables around a small pool facing the ocean. The staff is incredibly attentive. The food was great but we felt it could have been better given the rest of the experience.
Very good place even if very difficult to reach after several gates and small tiny road. The view on the beach/see and sitting are breathtaking. Very nice atmosphere and location. The question marks are on the service and the food, not on the awaited level ! Mismatch overall and lack of competences. Some adjustments could change a lot. Regards
Exactly what we wanted for Valentines! Romantic, beautiful setting & wonderful food!
great location, great food, symphatic manager(belgium ofcourse), great service, unbelievable beautiful suites to stay, 👌
Incredible venue for a magnificent dinner. I visited twice during my visit to the area, and was overjoyed each time. The food is delicious, the presentation is inviting and the menu is creative. Do not miss this spot. The ride on the private road to the entrance is truly priceless. This is a most unique place and you will not be disappointed.
Great spot on the beach.. in a small boutique hotel.. Food was among the best we had in Mexico. Service was impeccable. celebrated an anniversay and the manager went well above and beyond. Its a must go spot near playa del carmen
We were misled by the positive reviews . Unfortunately, we see the place differently and can offer very few positives. The view is simply terrific -- but that’s it! If you do not stay at the resort, you will find it difficult to get there. First, you take a cab to the resort main entrance and there you will have to wait for 10-15 min for a resort car to transport you to the restaurant. Then you get a tour by the manager, who will show you around and tell about Hollywood stars staying here (really?). The tour leaves an impression of a pretentious place that assumes that you are a rube. The wine list is outright awful – nothing special and only one white and one red by the glass (both are mediocre). Presence of Belgian beer on the menu is promising, but the pretentiousness is there too. The menu reads "Chimay", only to explain that it is “coming soon”. Why do I need to know that? Initially the atmosphere was okay, albeit a bit stuffy. However, 20 min into our dinner a very loud group was placed right next to our table, and the charm was gone – no more sounds of the sea, just someone’s loud laughter. On top of that, the group was smoking and the management did not enforce the local non-smoking rules. There is nothing wrong to be seated next to a loud group in a bar or a diner, but this place bills itself as a 5-star dining experience! Service is mediocre at best: the server brought the wine list without the menu, and when we asked for the menu suggested that we order drinks first. Could not convince her that we wanted to pair food and wine. On top of that, she could not explain simple things about wine, beer, or food -- had to go and bring the manager. Finally, food is nothing special. My wife and I had salads and duck with mushrooms and the dishes was very bland. In sum, this is a highly overpriced place for what they offer and their pretense should not fool you. Stay away! There are many fantastic places in Playa! Just try Oh Lala or Imprevist.
Exceptional experience from beginning to end. The best Grouper we have ever had.
