Palaminos at Ingleston has been a favourite venue for me and the family for a long time. The setting is fantastic and the staff are fantastic. I was there for lunch on my most recent visit and was a bit disappointed to note the lunch menu was reduced. I almost always chose the soup and sandwich deal at lunch time. I opted for soup and a starter instead which was good. I have also booked to stay over at Ingleston soon.
Happy with service. Staff pleasant and helpful. A little overpriced for the food.
It was a lovely experience. Staff were helpful and attentive
Enjoyed the food we ordered but was disappointed that it was a reduced menu
Staff were very friendly, good service, food was really nice.
The food was lovely but we were left waiting an extremely long time for our meals. Over an hour from when we had arrived. Even after we had explained we had been waiting quite some time to receive our meals we were then asked during our desert that the table would be needed for the next booking in 15 mins at which point we explained to the member of staff about all of our delays in getting our meals etc. Slightly disappointing on what was a birthday celebration meal
Food was excellent, staff very attentive and one way system worked very well
Our experience here was 10/10. The staff were lovely and so attentive, the atmosphere in the place was lovely and the food was amazing! Will definitely be back.
I love coming to Ingliston, brought friends who hadn't been before and they were so impressed, really any excuse to come there. Will be glad when the lunch menu is back on but the food was amazing as usual
Food was lovely, it did take 45 mins to get to us. I had to ask for ketchup twice and noticed the table beside us was the same, despite loads of staff standing round the bar to be fair they did have the same server as us, so perhaps our server was having a bad day. Just one more thing to say the restaurant was freezing cold no heating on so wasn’t as pleasant an experience as the other times I have been.
Attended just as we emerge from lockdown. Staff were capable, friendly and efficient. Can’t fault them.
The environment is really nice, clean and feels opulent.
Food was of reasonable standard. My only issue is the price of some of the dishes.
Macaroni, easy and cheap to make. Good taste but a bowl with a side of one slice of burnt garlic bread. Was in the region of £13. Yikes!!!!
Soup £4. Average main is around £14/£16
Our party was 4 adults and 2kids.
4 starters, 2 kid’s meals and 4 adult main. No alcohol. Cost £123.
For me the future visits will be special occasions only.
Fantastic night at Ingliston. If I'm being honest I was expecting a wait for food and drink etc given the staff and hotel had been closed for some time. The staff where fantastic, very attentive, there was a wait for food, but under circumstances not too long at all. Food was exceptional. Can't wait. To go back
Won't be back.
No social distancing at our table.
Slow service took to long to take orders food not great.
Feel it's lost its self.
A wee wait to get served but the staff were really busy.
Amazing food and service. Been here several times and have never had a bad meal!
Amazing food as always but service was extremely poor ! Took 50 minutes for food to arrive lack of staff interaction, forgot my child’s pudding and no apology for poor service. Waitress nearly threw my mums dinner at her without an apology until my mum commented.
Very disappointed although the food was amazing as always
Staff were largely very professional and explained service might be slower than usual due to restrictions in the kitchen. Since we were in need of hours to catch up, this wasn't an issue for us. Mains were great and in generous portions. Patisserie desserts were oversized, expensive and exceedingly sweet!
Great to be back and great services for outdoor drinking/dining
Booked for breakfast at 10.30am. Drink came out pretty quickly but we waited a further 20 minutes for our breakfast order to be taken and a further 30 minutes for the food to come. By which point my coffee was stone cold. waiting an hour for food when you have a 3 year old is no use. When the food came the order was wrong. We couldnt wait any longer so just said we would take it as it was. The food was really lovely and fresh. They seemed very understaffed. A shame as normally we really like it here.
Waited 40 minutes for drinks and wasn’t until I said we didn’t have drinks the staff noticed. Food took an hour and half to get to us and when we received it it was the wrong order and cold. Actually shocked at this level of service
We’ve been to Palominos loads of times and rarely been disappointed, though there was one time we waited 90mins between starter and mains. Anyway this time the service wasn’t much better. I know it’s tough right now for hospitality businesses but the waiting staff here seem to lack direction and guidance. Bit of a free for all really. There was no one to great us as we arrived but were eventually sent inside to meet the maitre’d. We had a table outside booked so promptly went back outside again. Was seated at a wet table and handed paper towel to dry it off, along with a copy of the dinner menu. Then had about 25min wait before anyone came near us to take a drink order, which took a further 20min to arrive. The food was good though and we didn’t have to wait too long for that to arrive.
Let’s be honest now, most people at this time of year want to eat outside of its nice and now, given restrictions will certainly want to eat outside so they can have a drink. That was evident from our visit. Palominos have done nothing to embrace this need though. They have loads of seating available outside, only 3 of which were under cover. Businesses the length and breadth of the country have burst their arses trying to create outside space for their customers. Not Palominos. Overall it’s just a bit, meh.
Waited about 40 minutes for us to be even asked about drinks whilst seated! Had to take the food away eventually because it started raining and no brolleys where provided for every table on 2. Very very disappointed.
As always food and staff where fabulous. Only comment was the restricted menu although do appreciate the reason why. Will be back again very soon.
All over the place, drinks going to the wrong tables, taking ages to serve then 3 of us go our desserts and 1 of the wee girls was waiting for 20mins after we FINISHED ours before I could even get anyone’s attention to say then still waited another 15mins for it. Then asked for the bill and 20mins later someone came over and asked if we needed anything I said I asked for the bill at least 20mins ago, turns out our bill had gone to the table next to us and they were waiting ages to tell them they had the wrong one. No real apologies about the delays, mix ups etc
Drinks order was taken 4 times before I was told my choice wasn’t available, waited 45 minutes for 2 cokes. My prawn pasta came with sausage and chicken mixed in, this was sent back and replaced while my husband finished his meal. When the food arrived it was very good- the only redeeming part of the experience. We were left for a long time after we had finished and it took several attempts to get the attention of staff to ask for the bill including a walk over to the bar where I was ignored by at least 10 members of staff including a manager. I appreciate it was a busy day but for not a single person to acknowledge me is just ignorant. Still had to pay full price for a truly shocking customer experience!
We were on table 17 all was great until we ordered coffees, they took over 45 minutes, we had to ask 3 times and then they had to retake our order. We also asked for cakes to take away which they got order wrong twice. The error was on the bill so charged for extra cakes. We also had to ask for coffee charge to be taken off a good will gesture of the coffee being taken off for the wait would have been nice. When we were about to leave another round of coffees the wrong order came. Been to Palominos numerous times, services was a bit of a shambles this time. Food was absolutely fantastic sooo tasty!! Thank you.
I loved our visit... the only thing I wasn't pleased with was that I had asked for Palaminos to out a Happy Birthday message on my partners dessert plate when booking and this wasn't done. There also wasn't a high chair at the table or us when we arrived, I had to ask for that.
Other than that, food was superb as was the service
Fantastic food as always. Service was great and great prices.
Food was lovely and we bought some delicious cakes to take home afterwards. I must admit that this was the first time I was slightly disappointed by the overall experience/service at Palaminos. Usually staff are so attentive and the service is normally prompt. We waited a long time for our drinks and food to arrive and had to repeatedly ask for condiments etc. Hopefully things will be back to being fantastic as normal next time we visit!
The menu at the table was not the same as the online version. There was no mention of the sandwiches and the online version seemed to be cheaper. Have you forgotten to update your website
Disappointed at Palominos, very restricted menu. I had spaghetti small portion with large prawns (4) to be exact not great value for £13.95 and my friend had fish and chips again small portion and batter soggy, she didn’t really enjoy fish and the peas looked withered.
Staff as always were very pleasant.
Enjoyed our lunches. The only reason for not using the highest rating was that it was a very limited menu at present.
We've dined here a LOT. Sadly it's unlikely we will again in a hurry. Once kids meals arrived (we'd been there 45 minutes from ordering, they were starving, we asked, theirs came,) the 4 adult meals were forgotten about. 90 minutes in (we'd been asked to be patient, so we were) staff finally clicked we hadn't been served ANYTHING. "Soon!!!" became more than another half hour. When it came? Not Ingliston standard. "Have a free coffee"? 3 days post-lockdown they just weren't ready, basically. No work flow, a very young staff run ragged and making errors, food not Palomino's standard. This was a celebration day as a family. We'd so looked forward to it. We paid a few pence short of £140 for 4 adults starters & mains (burgers, pizzas) & 2 kids pasta dishes & ice cream (no alcohol on that bill, as this is Scotland this week and ours was seating indoors.) Yes, they were cer so apologetic. But it was just chaotic, I'm afraid. We've dined there, stayed there, and always liked it. But it will take some SERIOUS persuasion for us to go there again, which makes us really sad. It felt as if they'd done no prep or rehearsal for re-opening a big, busy restaurant and kitchen. At all. We're betting that this lovely young staff is paid peanuts. It's so unfair they had to deal with that whole situation, but the whole team seemed very young and inexperienced and just a bit lost. We weren't the only ones with issues, there were other diners also taking the lovely young manager to task. We aren't normally complainers and this review is so hard to write and put up because what we experienced yesterday evening doesn't match our previous experiences there over several years.
Service really slow, 1 hour wait for 1 course. Ordered 2nd round of drinks which didn’t come. Understand businesses are getting back into swing of things but this wait was excessive
First restaurant to visit following the reopening.
Very pleasant staff who explained the reason fir the smaller menu and possibly slower service. In the event, the menu covered most tastes and the service was fine.
Scrupulous adherence to government health guidelines did not detract from a very pleasant dining experience.
First time visiting, won’t be the last!
Tasty food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere.
Great food and service. A bit pricey for both the quality and portion sizes.
Pleased you accomonated my request for wellblight table. Unfortunately swe felt the bstter on the fish was rather heavy and greasy. Regards J. R. Currie
Food was quick and very tasty, very reasonably priced and the cakes are superb!
The burger was just lovely and the atmosphere fantastic.
