Omakai is nestled in historic downtown San Jose, one block away from the art walk. The restaurant includes a spacious cocktail bar, a sushi bar where you can have a unique Omakase experience, and an outdoor patio by a fountain. Open for lunch & dinner, starting at 3:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Excelente servicio, tuvieron mucha atencion a los minimos detalles, la musica en vivo muy agradable, el sonido de la fuente es un detalle increible, no nos queriamos ir. Todavia pedi unos nigiris para llevar de lo rico que estuvo todo. Tienen opcion de cocina caliente para los que no comen nada crudo como fue el caso de mis amistades. Totalmente recomendado

We came away from Omakai feeling as though we'd been robbed. We had the "premium" omakase experience - costing an eye-watering $2500mx each - and the experience was anything but. We started with cocktails and ordered a bottle of wine for the meal. We then got told the wine had already been opened and that was their last bottle, so we got it with a 15% discount. They poured the wine before our meal had arrived and the cocktails arrived about three minutes later. Our first course arrived a few minutes later - although it was taken away because the waiter accidentally dropped it face down on the table and then scooped up with his fingers. The rest of the meal is what I'd say was very average sushi - not terrible but appalling considering the price we were paying. The waiters would just place the dishes on the table and disappear so we had to call them back to ask for an explanation of what we were eating. We've eaten sushi in a New York Michelin restaurant and paid only slightly more - it's crazy that this is the standard of service for such a high price. Salmon sashimi was served ice-cold - in fact, it had the grainy texture that suggested it was only semi-defrosted. We complained to the waitress and she said "I'll let the chef know" - no effort to apologise or take that item off the bill. If you're craving sushi in San Jose del Cabo, you may think this place will satisfy you, but we urge caution. It feels like a tourist trap - and a staggeringly expensive one at that. Our final bill - with drinks - came to $5800. On a cost-to-quality scale, it's probably the worst meal of our lives.

We are so glad we found this place. We strolled the darling streets of San Jose and ended up with a reservation here, where we were welcomed warmly into the most stunning, modern, zen-like restaurant. The cocktails were lovely, and the sushi was outstanding. We were pleased to just ask for recommendations and ended up with the perfect meal. The entire team was attentive and kind, and the quality of the food was great. We’d most certainly go back!

What a nice surprise ... omakase sushi in San Jose (cabo). While they don't have a huge selection of fish what the chefs do with what they have is outstanding. The ambiance is clean and hipster, the food is awesome (they need more sake selections) and the chefs are awesome. Definately worth the visit.

While the food was good and we were not disappointed in the quality of the fish, the “True Omakase Experience” is not true omakase. The price listed on Open Table is not at all a reflection of the omakase cost. We had to ask several times before being told that the sushi bar will continue serving courses until you ask them to stop. You will be charged for each course based on the listed menu price. This restaurant was given the stars only because of the kind and wonderful sushi bar chefs.

While anything fried/cooked was decently good, I was quite disappointed at the limited raw fish options (I think out of their menu of maybe 24 they had 8) and the scallops we were served had to be the worst scallops we’ve ever had. They were unrecognizable in fact. Maybe just an off day? I hope so! Service was prompt and polite, but did lack engagement. I’d maybe just go for anything fried/cooked instead because they were decent.

This is a must visit if you like exquisitely prepared, highest quality sushi. The room is fantastic. The fish was amazing. Super friendly and professional staff. Loved everything we ordered. Amazing flavor combinations on the nigiri. Highlights were the Pork Belly Gyoza, Chutoro with truffle, NZ Salmon with tobiko, and quite possibly my favorite bite of sushi ever - Kampachi with toasted garlic crumble on top. The only suggestion I’d make would be for them to make the (delicious) Nori Tostada appetizer four bite sized pieces instead of one large one. Amazing! Go to this restaurant people!!! You won’t regret it.

We reached out to Maria last minute for a large reservation celebrating a Wedding. Not only could she accommodate but she created the most AMAZING family style menu that blew everyone away. We have now gone twice within 2 weeks! Once for sushi on their terrace and last night for their tepanyaki experience. We definitely will be going to go back to try their omakase experience as well. I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful this Japanese restaurant is. You will have unique creations with beautiful presentation, the freshest fish, the best service and want to be back for more. I highly recommend having their pork belly gyoza, it has a light crunch with the right balance of fat that will make your eyes roll into the back of your head. Also, if the King salmon is available try it with the truffle butter. It’s a melt in your mouth luxury of silky salmon with a luscious umami. Everything we tried and we tried a lot was wonderful. The beautiful atmosphere makes you feel like you’re in Japan. They’ve paid attention to so many details to create an impeccable dining experience. Going to downtown San Jose del Cabo can always be a challenge for parking but Omakai provides a valet service! That’s a HUGE plus. Arigato gozaimasu!!

Omakase was absolutely phenomenal. The chefs were fantastic and came up with the most amazing combinations. We have been to numerous omakases and this has been the best! Ambiance was gorgeous and service was great. Very intimate and a great experience. We will be going back again soon!

Family dinner for five. We allowed the chef to bring out what they wanted to make. I’ve never done this before and it was amazing. The freshest seafood I have ever eaten anywhere. We had sashimi, nigiri , rolls and a couple of rice dishes. It was all delicious and fresh.

The food was okay. The issue is the bait and switch menu tactic this restaurant manages. Their menu is just “for reference” but the actual prices are market price. For example, the spicy tuna roll is $180MXN, but they actually bill $350MXN. The nigiri is also 2-3x the price. The menu states salmon nigiri is 2 pieces, but they actually only give you 1 at 2–3x the printed rate. The waiter even gets annoyed when he has to tell you more than once the “actual price” of the sushi. Beware that you’ll spend 2-3x as much as the menu if you eat here.
