North Italia - Washington DC
Very nice place. Open decor. Very clean, seems brand new. Young atmosphère.
Food was excellent, service was impeccable.
The food and service were both excellent. It was nice to eat in a restaurant where one could actually speak with his colleague. I really liked North. The portions were HUGE. I ate about a third of my dinner, but how could I complain about that?
Food was very good. I had pizza (excellent) and my family had pasta (they shared “It was pretty good). Service was excellent and I loved the restaurant’s motif.
Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon to find a lively crowd and delicious food. I ordered a pizza and my husband had a short rib pasta dish- both were fantastic. The place is very clean with plenty of seating inside and on the patio out front. We also both had drinks- me a glass of wine and my husband a cocktail- both great. The service was a bit slow, but we weren’t in any hurry and enjoyed taking a moment to relax. Will definitely be dropping by again!
Nice airy feel to the place. My pasta was excellent and my dining companion raved about the chicken parmesan. I have had their pizzas before, also very tasty. Iced tea was especially good.
Took my friend there for her birthday lunch and we were treated
royally from our 1st step in the door! Fabulous service
and fabulous food -- so inventively and beautifully
presented. The pistachio cake at the end was pure
perfection. Can't wait to return!!!
The portions are very big which was so nice and something I'll keep in mind next time I go so I don't snack before like I did this time. The calamari appetizer was enough for 4 people so make sure people want to share. I had a ginger margarita which was so refreshing. Our server was excellent, answered all our questions, was attentive but not overbearing and was friendly!
Fantastic food and service. Kelly was absolutely precious. We enjoyed everything. Would come back for sure. Beautiful decor.
Short rib pasta was fabulous as well as calamari and red wines we had.
The food was good (except the chicken was extremely dry in my salad), spot was trendy, but the waitress was fantastic.
The food was excellent!
Nice hostess and was easily able to accommodate having my 11 month old baby with me. Service was fine.. I didn’t know who our waitress was because there were multiple people taking our order and servicing us. The meal was coursed out fine; however, the pastas we ordered were really salty, especially the bolognese. We didn’t complain... just didn’t finish our dish. I’ve had North in Scottsdale and food wise was wayyyy better than DC. Maybe they were having an off day, who knows.
Service was impeccable, great recovery!
My family - wife and 2 kids - were seated first while I searched for a parking space, then I arrived later and we still had to wait 10 additional minutes and server had not returned; I informed the manager who quickly sent someone over, apologized etc..This would have been enough - I was satisfied with the apology, but NO, manager still insisted in comping my appetizers and drinks, this was amazing and unexpected. Manager returned often to our table to make sure we were ok. Great recovery, great food, great place!!! I highly recommend it, the Tortelonni were amazing!!
Delicious, beautifully presented salad - The hostess and servers were lovely toward us and very helpful - Noise-level was quite high but understandable since people were celebrating an event
Very good salad and desert!
Gluten free pizza special was amazing!
Wagyu skirt steak was over cooked and the children’s spaghetti tasted like jar sauce.
Food was great. Service was very good. Would definitely go back again. Great place for casual, modern take on Northern Italian cuisine.
I can't comment on the indoor noise level because we sat outdoors. Because of GW Hospital beware there might be ambulances.
Food was good-but service was awful.
We were seated and waited over 5 minutes for someone to come to table.
Server finally came to take drink orders-we also asked for water.
Server came with drinks-asked for water again.
Server took order. We each ordered full salads and asked for order of grilled bread. We were splitting an entree.
People were then seated next to us-server immediately brought water.
Asked for 3rd time for our water.
Finally got water.
Salad brought out-no bread. When asked he said he had ordered it with the entree.
ENTREE delivered-(and bread) had to ask for extra plate (despite him knowing we were splitting).
Food was very good-slates and pasta were excellent.
Not sure if this was his first night, or what was going on.
It was late on a Sunday night and place was NOT busy-empty tables everywhere.
Would rethink going here next time we were in town.
Simply due to the service. Too many places in DC to have this type of service.
Delicious food and great service in a comfortable atmosphere.
Very mixed feelings about this place unfortunately. My initial impressions were great. Lovely restaurant, beautifully decorated, very clean, and super friendly hostess greeting people at the door. Unfortunately things went downhill.
Our server, while polite and professional, was not very outgoing or friendly. I'm assuming someone was training with him that day because he had another server following him around, but I found it odd that he didn't tell us this since normally that's what I've seen.
I was in a party of two and we each ordered a drink and appetizer to start when we arrived at 6pm. The restaurant had maybe 5 other tables there and it took us almost 15 minutes to get our drinks. We then ordered our main meals. At 6:45pm (45 minutes after being seated) we finally got our appetizers. The servers basically disappeared during this waiting time, and only came by once about 20 minutes in to let us know the appetizers were almost ready. We also had to ask for clean plates since our bread plates were dirty. It took 2 tries to get plates that were totally clean.
The truffle bread appetizer was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately the avocado salad had avocado that was very brown. Our main meals arrived about an hour after sitting down (7pm). I had the squid ink pasta for my main meal, and while the pasta was very good, the shrimp were super overcooked and tough. My friend had the chicken pasta which he enjoyed a lot.
I wanted to try dessert, but was afraid it would take too long. We asked for our check which came quickly, but after providing our credit cards it took almost 10 minutes to get them back.
Mostly my complaints are about the long delay. For a simple meal with two people and a fairly empty restaurant, it took us 1 hour and 40 minutes to have dinner. I would have been okay with this if someone had explained the delay to us, but we were treated as if it was normal. I wasn't super upset with the food quality, and overall it was acceptable and still tasty.
We reserved this night as an anniversary dinner for our two year. I think we just had wrong timing. The sever was extremely busy. It still sucked to have only one entree come out with our dinner after waiting so long. I had just expected an awesome evening. The manager however did give us a gift card for the inconvenience. It’s a good place. Just don’t go there with intentions of having A special dinner planned. Good food, great setting.
Excellent service and food was delicious!
The food was very delicious but on a popular Thursday night, the service was haphazard and unpredictable. We had long waits for our cocktails and food and had to ask multiple times for both.
It took 42 minutes from ordering to receive our pizza. The food was good and we had a nice server, but the wait was way too long. Also, other food runners kept bringing us other tables’ food (4 separate times). The management needs to ensure staff memorizes their table numbers. That is basic for restaurant service.
Como siempre, servicio eficaz y agradable. Los Mafaldines ... para repetir. Fantasticos!!
Had the worst waitress ever and the sea food pasta eas not worth 22$
Nice dinner menu. Pizzas are fairly large for one. Save room for dessert!
It was good, but very small portions
Food is outstanding. You have to scream to carry on conversation.
Great pasta! But don’t expect bread with the meal... Needed something to mop up the wonderful sauce!
Service was fantastic. Food solid.
Great salads and pizza and service. Got a nice booth. Enjoyed dinner in relaxed atmosphere.
Service was positively terrible. Our server disappeared after our food was delivered. We had to ask three different servers to get our check and then had to ask a manager to process the credit card payment.
Excellent restaurant except for the noise level. Good service, good food, reasonable prices, great expresso but so noisy my table companions and I had to almost shout to hear each other.
We enjoyed the food and the service very much. Thank you.
While sitting @ my indoor table chatting with colleagues, waiting to be served, I felt a bite on my legs. I excused myself from the table to confirm my suspicion. I was right…mosquitos were dining on me. So, I asked for bug repellent and much to my surprise the Manager appeared with a bottle of repellent to spray my legs and a sincere apology. Suffice it to say, this wasn't an isolated incident. I'm nursing my bites today ):
The staff and the food are amazing!! I love eating here they treat you like family. The manager Joelle does an outstanding job!
My food was amazing and I had a wonderful time. The ambiance and service was fantastic.
Everything was excellent with one exception. It took a very long time to get a cocktail.
