For the voyager in everyone comes a restaurant that evokes wanderlust – and awakens your palate. The specialty: ceviche, fresh from the sea. The setting: a beautiful nest-like structure suspended between ocean and land, and surrounded by “espejos de agua,” literally water mirrors, magical in their own right. It’s a setting t for an adventurer. Incidentally, Nido is inspired by the travels and research of John Steinbeck and Ed Ricketts, who fell enamored with this region along the Sea of Cortez. Just as you’d expect from a restaurant overlooking the crashing tide, Nido serves small, chilled bites that refresh and relax you. Escape with a local specialty (seaweed salad, aguachile, sashimi), as well a number of ceviche selections from around the world. Equally satisfying is the innovative and vibrant drink list, which includes house-made sangria, pisco-based cocktails and beer-infused libations. All perfect for toasting as night falls and discoveries unfold.

The look of the Nest from the reception and how it’s lit at night, the decor of the restaurant is very cool.
The food was only ok and very pricey for what you got. There was four options of white wine by the glass. My wine was $24 a glass and my husbands was $18 a glass. It was a nice wine glass but it was a half pour, unacceptable at that price. My daughter (who is 6) ordered Miso soup (which she loves, she eats everything). It was very spicy, a lot of jalapeños in it. She couldn’t eat it. I mentioned this and it was ignored. We paid $18 for uneaten soup. We took the kids out for dessert elsewhere after dinner. It’s expensive for not very much. And they add a 15% service charge to the bill automatically.

The setting is amazing but the background music was sporadic and the service was as well. Everyone was well-meaning but for the prices they charge, we were disappointed in our experience. We spent well over $200 for the two of us (apps and drinks) and I believe that it may not be sustainable for most people.

$20 per glass for Josh Chardonnay is really high! I don’t think we’ll return with so many great options in Cabo unless the prices become more aligned with the experience. If we do, it will be for a cocktail in the beautiful setting.
