Shishito pepper-miso purée, puffed forbidden rice, pickled shallots, shiso
Japanese A5 wagyu with yuzu sesame dressing, shio kombu, puffed forbiddenrice and quail egg
Todo muy bien, si está un poco caro pero vale la pena, fueron $500 dlls y éramos 2 adultos y 2 niños pero un niño no comió más q un plato de arroz.. si te gusta la comida japonesa, bien sushi, está muy bien..
The food was absolutely delicious, drinks bomb, and the vibes are great!
Great food & atmosphere.
Nara-Ya was fantastic, with great views of Washington Channel, East Potomac Park and the Piers below. The food was very good and priced on the lower end of most of the dine in restaurants at the Wharf, with main courses running from $20-$40 a serving, plus Happy Hour specials. They also carried higher end items like Wagyu and King Crab. The service was great, we sat at a table and at the bar and everyone was friendly and kind. Points for the Jean Paul Gaultier wallpaper in the bathroom too.
I was highly disappointed by the amount of scallops I received. I find it very unreasonable that you only receive 2 scallops for $35. Even the side of puree was very small. After spending $160, my gf and I left hungry.
The vegan tasting menu is just not very good.
The food was absolutely delicious. Best sushi I ever had
Food was good, but felt really rushed by the staff the entire time. Definitely a very "trendy" spot if that's the vibe you're aiming at for the evening.
I had a fantastic experience. My server Christian went above and beyond making sure that I was well taken care of. I will definitely be back.
Parking is really hard. check if there are concerns at the anthem
It was enjoyable but the food and drinks are a bit overpriced although they were very good. $40 for 1 bar drink and a California roll. Pretty intense when we asked our server what his name was and he said why? lol Jose, who gave us our drinks and food was nicer than him.
Definitely a space to experience though, nice decor with a nice view.
This restaurant was absolutely beautiful with a gorgeous view! Our waiter was very kind and patient as we had many questions. I would go back 100%!
Great ambience. Food is a little pricey but great spot for a date or special occasion. Cauliflower appetizer is a MUST. Sushi is great. Would go again.
Great food! Super fresh sushi and great service.
Value is mostly for location and ambience, aesthetic of food and presentation, some items are enjoyable but very steep for value
Looks way better in pictures. Entry way is great for pictures. Was slightly disappointed overall… food was so so. Great service though!
Long wait time
The sushi was great! The other plates we ordered were ok. A little pricey for what you get. The service was good, but we had to wait too long between the starters and the main dish, that was the sushi.
We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday and the gave us a little cake and a drink for singing the “ Happy Birthday”. It was a nice evening.
The wine list is too narrow and too expensive. They should have more options if you don’t want to spend $300 dollars for a bottle.
Food was delicious and the cocktails were tasty. Great view
The ambiance was amazing from the hallway to the elevator to the main dining area. We were consistently checked on, at appropriate times, by our waiter and supervisors to see if we needed anything. Our waiter, Alex, was amazing with his knowledge of the menu and drinks. He even provided free champagne and dessert to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
This is how you treat your customers.
The food was amazing. Bang for the buck—spot on!
The good is our server and the food he brought out was all prepared well and provided a great dining experience. I had the sea bass and the Naya ra roll and started off with the calamari. All were excellent as was our server who was responsive as well attentive. I wish id gotten his name. My problem is the reservation and seating system. Ive worked in Nightclubs and restaurants in DC for half of my life so I know how it works and things that can happen. However, If youre going to be adamant about arriving on time (even going so far as giving the wise advice of NOT driving if it can be helped) and going to the next person on the wait list after giving the patron a 15 minute grace period, AND requiring a credit card to even make the reservation, you cant be 25 minutes late seating someone who checked in 15 minutes early. We werent the only party with this experience that night. EVERYTHING else was outstanding and yes id go back.
Overall very enjoyable. Service was ok but clearly still a work in progress and given current issues understandable.
Food was great and we would go again.
Great view, great service and delicious food and drinks!!!
The wagyu is just a thin strip off a larger chunk they likely bought from a general retailer. Nothing special and really not served correctly. The sushi is very solid, as were the other dishes we tried. No belinis with the caviar which is a weird thing. Honestly it’s a wharf restaurant that goes for jPOP type style which really completely missed the Japanese mark and doesn’t match with the picture of the food they propose to serve. It appears an ultra high quality refined place from the food picture and then you get in and it’s somewhat loud/garish/ and not nearly as defined as anything high end Japanese should be. I lived in Japan for a little over two years, that’s my qualification on the subject. Alex, our waiter was fantastic. Overall it’s just an overpriced place that’s a little too much on that DC bougie hopeful scale.
Great food - appalling service. Ordered the tasting menu. received no description. No idea of number of courses. Drink orders delayed, delayed . Great environment and food overwhelmed by inadequate and appalling service. Would never go back.
Marcus had great costumer service and was very helpful and Daniel helped us in the front with great communication skills on helping us find nara ya this place was amazing 10 out of 10
The food and service once we finally got served was great. My only problem was that we had an 8:45 pm reservation and were not seated until 9:25. Then it took an additional 15-20 minutes to get a drink order put in. I’ve never waited an hour passed a reservation to order food. It was very good off putting considering the pricing and automatic gratuity but the food was excellent and our server was very knowledgeable about our items.
Service was fantastic. The food was great and their drink selection was really good. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
Had to wait 35 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. Watered down cocktails and food thrown on a plate (no presentation). Waiter couldn’t get our order timely and instead of bringing out the dessert assortment that two of us ordered, they brought out one item for each of us (which the menu said assortment of 4, therefore there should’ve been 8 total). This was our second time dining at Nara-Ya and we are sad to say we will not be dining here again.
We went for our anniversary and were blown away by the food and service. Thanks to our amazing server, Marcus! Splurge for the chef’s omakase, you won’t regret it.
The sushi roll options were a little limited. I would have expected for such a fancy place to have super awesome rolls. I'll chuck it up to COVID.
Went there after friends recommendations. Everything was great, setting, food, and service. The food left me speechless and our server, Sherette was spot on with everything she recommended. I can’t explain what a great experience we had. We’ll definitely be going back and requesting Sherette for her knowledge of the menu and great service.
Great view. Great Service. Excellent Sushi. If you get the Duck, ask for Medium-well unless you like it Raw.
Good good good good good good good good good good good (I had to write 50 characters somehow)
We arrived for a 9 pm reservation booked here on open table and we were informed that the Chef’s Luxe Omakase would not be available. That is what we intended to order so we were dismayed that the signature offering was not available even though OpenTable allowed us to book. The server must have conferred with the chef/kitchen and came back and said they would provide an alternate Omakase. While this food was good it did not include the breadth of dishes promised by the signature offering. For example, it did not include any hot dishes. However we were charged the full price nonetheless. I find this to be less than truthful advertising and paying for $1000 dinner for two seems unreasonable given that the signature offering was not provided.
Food was not good at all. Overpriced and tasteless
Loved the ambiance & the service. The food was a little expensive for what we got but it was still very satisfying.
I thought the prices were very high and compared to the value and flavor of the dishes, they don't correlate. The food wasn't poor by any means but I definitely have tasted better food elsewhere at a lower price point. I wouldn't go back or recommend.
Sushi was amazing. Bartenders were friendly, highly recommend a cocktail at the bar after dinner.
