Mughlai Indian Cuisine - W. 55th
I ate at Mughlai with a group of 6 friends. We live in three different boroughs, so it was great to find an affordable and tasty place in midtown that could seat 7 on a Friday night. The service was great, we order a bunch of dishes to share and based on what we ordered, the server recommended we also try another dish that ended up being everyone’s favorite of the night (I’m blanking on the name of it, but it was chicken with coconut and just a little bit of spice.)
Wonderful small informal place. Portions are quite large. Spice levels are medium so if you prefer spicy you can ask.
Really enjoyed our meal here. I’ve eaten a ton of Indian food originally being from the UK, and this was fantastic. Food very well cooked, tasty and fresh. Very friendly accommodating nice staff and owner. A must try for Indian cuisine fans in the NYC area.
Fabulous food with sensational spices and very helpful service. It’s new. It’s a find.
The food and service were excellent.
We were made to feel as though we were important. Will definitely go back on our next trip to NYC.
Fantastic food and lovely waiters and service. We look forward to returning for another meal!
Great ambiance and food
Service was great too!
Some of the best authentic Indian cuisine I have ever had. We were greeted as if we were old friends. The service was prompt, attentive, and friendly. The food was amazing. Think of this restaurant as a place to get a terrific meal and spend time with close friends. This is far from an elegant venue. Just great food and service.
We had a terrific early dinner at this fairly new restaurant. We were greeted by the owner and he personally walked us through several suggestions in the extensive menu. We enjoyed the Lasuni Gobi appetizer that he recommended. For dinner, we had chicken tikka masala of course, as well as the Lamb Bhuna and Navrarttan Korma - all excellent! This is an exceptional dining value in mid-town Manhattan.
Excellent food and very charming atmosphere. Staff are very nice.
Terrible experience. Came at reservation time and was told we would have to wait 30 minutes. We had theater tickets which made delays problematic. We did have to wait that long, then the dishes took very long to arrive. We ended up having only about 20 minutes in which to eat. No one was apologetic or accommodating. Food was mediocre. Very disorganized.
A good option for authentic Indian; the lamb curry and saag paneer made the grade. Excellent value and convenient for going to concerts or theater. Don't assume a reservation will assure you of a table at the designated time, though.
For the area, the restaurant is comfortable, not heinously overpriced, and not swarming with loud, obnoxious tourists rushing to get in a meal before theater time. The service was fine, the noise levels low, but the food was bland - not bad, but a bit mediocre.
A nice new Indian restaurant in the neighborhood. Welcoming staff and standard good food. My entree did not come with the usual additional condiments and I did not ask. A double front door would prevent the cold air from coming in which would be good. I recommend trying it.
