I love the casual and easy going feel of this restaurant. The drinks we’re delicious! The oysters were great, but the tuna belly tar tare was just OK. The salmon entree was tasty and filling. Service was well-timed and friendly. Overall, the ambiance, the drinks, and the service were great. The food was average, but worth going to hang out with friends!
The focus is bourbon and they do it right . Greyhound and strawberry bourbon creme brûlée - heaven . Smoked salmon is also amazing .
Favorite business lunch spot in NYC.
I went to Maysville based on the reviews I had read about their burger. The burger did not disappoint! It was cooked perfectly with the most amazing combination of arugula, cheese and sauce. The restaurant overall is pretty hectic and loud. I would go back but during more off hours if possible.
Excellent variety of whiskey (including cocktails) and one of the best burgers in NYC
I had been a huge fan of Char No 4 (RIP) and liked Maysville when I visited 2 years back for dinner (same owner). Fast forward to a brunch in July 2018 - what a difference! The Eggs Benedict entree was TINY (and why was it on a croissant vs. a biscuit?) but luckily the chipotle bloody mary was still good. The duck omelet was okay but the service and venue - urgh. A dour waiter, flies around our table and black creepy crawlies in the bathroom. Freaked me out.
Overall Maysville was an overpriced let-down which is such a shame as it's so pretty but there are tons of better places in the hood than this.
Went to dinner with 8 coworkers. We got seated in the back room, which was very quiet. Front room was extremely loud, but couldn’t hear it from where we were.
Cocktails and beer selection for the whole group was good. The risotto and burger were excellent.
Great beef the ravioli were too sweet but a great over all
Overpriced and underwhelming. Limited food and wine options. Had to ask for wait staff even though place was empty.
Nicely appointed bar/restaurant. About 50% each. Tables a bit too close together for comfortable dining. Menu is creative; outstanding cucumber salad, hot "smoked" salmon with peas, and beef entree. Service is friendly and efficient. Wine list is limited but vg at the affordable end, huge reserve selection at high end. Noise level is pretty vibrant when place is full. A bit pricy.
Loved every bite! Great ambiance, great service, good drinks!
Alexis waited on us and she was incredible! Food is some of the best I've had in NYC, hands down. Excellent spot.
Great food . Unique
We wanted to eat at the restaurant that was named for our hometown. It was terrific. We had the deviled egg appetizer with country ham on top and it was outstanding. The cucumber and chick pea salad was yummy. Our entree was the chicken salad and asparagus with fingerling potatoes. Everything was fresh and had such a different taste. Would definitely go again the next time we visit.
Have dined there fairly often and always enjoy it. Last time, we had 2 butchers steaks and it was great. This time, we ordered butchers steaks and it was only so-so. Seemed to be a different cut of meat, more like london broil than steak. It was neither as tender or as flavorful as what we had before. Other than that, it was as enjoyable as usual.
I am a Bourbon fan and was looking a fun whiskey tasting experience. This was great. Loved all the1 oz. pours my "barkeep" recommended. Ordered dinner and was not disappointed . Delicious raw oysters and a smoked salmon that was to die for. Go for the food. But, if you like bourbon, go for a tasting.
The food was good but our waiter really rushed us. There was only one other table and we were early on Friday night (with reservations). We were unable to really look at the extensive bourbon menu and he rushed us to order. Otherwise it would have been a great evening.
Great Bloody Mary and sausage gravy. Staff is friendly and professional.
We booked a table for 8 on a Friday night and I was worried about the noise level. Surely enough, some groups at the bar were very loud, but we were kindly seated in the back and it was fine in the end! Not the quietest place (Friday night, yes, I know), but we didn't have to speak loudly to each other to be heard.
Great selection of drinks and dishes are quite creative. We really enjoyed the food!
Very pleasant service, but we almost forgot to tip because they didn't include it on our check (although I expected they would, since we were 6+) - so, if you're a larger group, keep an eye on that and don't forget to tip!
Maysville has reasonable prices and a fabulous array of bourbon! The staff always look happy to be working there. I met the owner Sean several times at Char No 4 in Brooklyn and he's a super guy. Food is delicious, you can't go wrong here.
Best grits this side of the Mason Dixon, easy! And the biscuits are the best anywhere.
High quality cocktails and shellfish rendered ho-hum by petite portions and pallid table service.
First time visitor to Maysville NYC. Neat restaurant and bar. Loved the atmosphere and the food was fantastic. People there were so nice and accommodating. Will visit there again on our next trip to NYC and would highly recommend!
Attentive waiters; fun whiskey drinks and delicious “ribs” special. They were “out” of several appetizers, so tried pork belly(!!) and deviled eggs (don’t bother..... egg yolk mixed w/too much mayo! Not much flavor)
Always reliable with great seasonal choices.
Great drinks and range of Whiskeys. Limited Menu. However, the food was very salty. Appetizers; cucumber salad was (blah); steak -- salty. Chef is very heavy-handed. They have a thing for sesame seeds or some other seeds on everything. I would stay at the bar for drinks but not for food.
Great food and an impressive selection of American and international whiskeys. Only con was we were seated in the room at the back of the restaurant rather than the area by the bar. Less noisy but less interesting as well.
The waitress was friendly and perfectly attentive. The drinks were good but the entree choices were limited. Shrimp toast were delicious, pork rinds were salty and sweet, and the oysters were...well oysters.
LOVE Maysville!!! Kiko, Stefan and Chloe are amazing!!! And Talia, everyone LOVES you!!!
Excellent food from the new chef, especially the burger!!
Great service, but more of a dinner spot than a brunch spot. The potatoes in the chef's breakfast were too sugary. I had the duck omelet, which was good but too salty. I don't think cabbage really works in a hot omelet (the texture just gets wilted and unappealing).
This was the most disappointing experience. Our waiter wasn’t super friendly, the food was mediocre at best. I’ve eaten here several times and have always loved every meal but this last one was not good. We ended up going across the street to get more food (+ our bill was about $130 alone at Maysville).
Good Food and Good Service. Will definitely be back.
We went for dinner & drinks with friends. The bartender gladly moved the tab over to our table. We sat in the back (by private dining rm & bathroom traffic) but we didn't care as it was away quiet as the after-work happy hour crowd was full-on. Our waiter answered all our questions & was pleasant. Got lots of apps (deviled eggs, hush puppies, tuna crudo, oysters, pork rinds & the country ham on toast.) Of all the apps the country ham stood out by far. The ham & beer cheese were excellent & the bread was perfectly toasted. Oysters were fresh, served with minionette, no cocktail sauce. We ordered the tuna crudo afterwards and while our waiter was very polite, we had to remind him about the tuna, as it was clear he forgot to add it & entered the order along with our entree order. The bus staff didn't wait ONE second before pulling away our oyster tray after the last shell was discarded. Our mains were tasty. Had the burger, the skirt steak & the trout schnitzel. They were all spot on taste & texture wise. The reviews about small portions is on point. Steak was about 6oz & served with 1/2 a potato. The schnitzel was a good portion but served with a canelle of potato salad & a sprig of watercress. Burger was the only decent plate. We had the fried apple pie & the banana bread dessert with bacon ice cream. Both were less than memorable. They had a chocolate mayonnaise cake & although probably really moist, the description deterred me. They changed our plates & flatware out which was great & cocktails were delicious. My main complaint was that they dont serve drinks with cocktail napkins. The waiter was repeatedly wiping down the table from the drinks sweating on the table. Silly place to cut costs. After a hefty bill of just about $300 we can say that it's a cute place, but not rushing back anytime soon (when hungry) as there are others in the neighborhood I would love to try that would be heartier.
The food was delicious and creative. The service was excellent.
Again, not disappointed at all. Second time here and think it might be a great go to spot. It's off the beaten path so pretty easy to snag a table and the food is always delicious.
Mother’s Day. When you get a biscuit and gravy the biscuit shouldn’t be bone dry. I mentioned the lack of gravy to our server, who said: hopefully the taste makes up for it. It didn’t.
Maysville is always a great place for a good meal and cocktail. If I were a serious whiskey aficionado, I would become a barfly here.
Good cocktails- tasty food
