Being that this was my 7th time at this location I was surprisingly disappointed. Reservations were at 8:15 I received 2 calls and a text to confirm my reservation which was weird. We arrived at 7:50 and we were seated. Our waiter greeted us about 10 min after that and we ordered a salad and drinks. Which took about 15 mins to get to us. The reason why I am disappointed is that I ordered my entree was ordered shortly after ordering my salad and we did not receive our food until 9:40. We did not see our waiter for about 45 mins we needed a refill on our waters and needed additional cocktails. Everytime that I have visited this location in the past we had amazing service. This time the manager told us that they had large parties that night. This was why we received such poor service. We were so disappointed in our experience we did not order the famous butter cake. We just wanted to pay the bill and leave. If you are looking for a good steak and good service this is not the place.
Literally the WORST fine dining experience I’ve ever had. Horrible service. Non-existent managers to monitor anything. This is a clip joint. Food was actually good. But way overpriced given the inexperienced waitstaff, 40 minute wait to get drinks etc. I will never return.
I’ve been eating at Mastro’s for years beginning in Chicago several years ago. I’ve eaten at the DC location several times and also a location in Arizona Their steaks are good but the side items lack flavor or seasoning. It almost seems like their sides have gotten worse. It’s still a nice place to go on occasion but no longer my favorite … something is happening with them. The butter cake was decent but almost mushy inside. I have started to like Del Frisco’s more than Mastro’s but I’ll give them one more chance.

We’ve been to a number of Mastro’s around the US, and being from SoCal the Thousand Oaks and Malibu locations are always great. We decided to go to our tried and true and the Mastro’s DC location did not disappoint. From the great cocktails mixed up by Ron and Terra, to the delicious food and even better ambiance, we loved it!
There was a party of 40 being served downstairs and this was the restaurant’s main focus for the entire evening. Our wait time to receive our food was astronomical. The quality of food wasn’t as subpar as it typically is because our table was not the priority at that time. We get it. The food tasted like it was rushed to be prepared and it was not hot. The gnocchi was a spongey texture. The Chilean sea bass lacked flavor. We were grateful for the live entertainment though. The piano songstress was rather boho and soulful. We enjoyed her. Maybe better luck next time?

Service slow, inattentive, dirty dishes and empty glasses left on the table way to long. Kitchen errors and delays. I go to the best steakhouses around the world. This was a disappointing experience for the very high price point. Steak was very good. Veggies were also good but oily. Music live was great but in-between they played odd pop music … not a match for the formal setting. I hope they can get their act together so I can try it again down the road.

If you are looking to have a great night out, with excellent food and service, this is the place to be.
Out waiter, Rice, was the best. From start to finish. I really appreciate his superb customer service and support. We will be returning.
The steaks 🥩 were Perfect ! All the sides were so good.
The restaurant was very nice my dinner reservations were for 7:45 but I ran into lots of traffic and there was an accident I called and they had no problem with us running behind we were seated as soon we got there but I didn’t like the fact that although I requested the bar area I was out in the back of the restaurant where it’s freezing cold that was my only issue everything else was great

Disappointed that I had reservations to eat in the dining room but because my guest didn’t have a collar shirt on, we were offered to sit in the bar area.
Service was very slow , waited over two hours for my food. Also was out of the large lobster tails
Good Place For Dinner Outings That Are Romantic, Like Valentines Day Or On A Date. Was A Little To Dark For Group Outings Like A BDay Dinner
Overall, I thought Mastro’s was over priced and they even charged for the bread (though it was delicious). I ordered the scallops and they were definitely the star of the dinner and worth every penny. They were cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. I thought the rest of the meal, including the warm butter cake that is so hyped up, was good but not worth the price.
First time at Mastro’s and it wasn’t what I expected for an upscale restaurant. Tables weren’t spacious, the music selection didn’t seem to fit for this class of restaurant. The music was so loud I could’ve barely hear my waiter Pat. Pat was really nice!
However, the food was delicious!! I had the 8oz steak, medium well. My steak was so tender and juicy!! The sides were really good too.
May give Masto’s another try considering the food was so good!!

I took my husband here at this location for his birthday on 8/29 and we ordered are usual that we get and it didn’t taste the same at all. We we’re so disappointed. We been to Mastros so many times in New York City which is out fav there. What we experienced was the food not being seasoned Nor tasting the same. My husband rack of lamb wasn’t not seasoned, had no flavor and meat was very red. My food wasn’t seasoned well nor the sides. None of our food tasted good. Like it was missing something. Our Lemon drops wasn’t made well, so I got the dream berry which was better. However, our server and the manger was very understanding and accommodated us! Thank you so much! So my Husband got a steak which he liked and said it tasted much better. I just got crab cakes and we decided to get no more sides. I was just very turned off at this point and it was my husband birthday! We drove from philadelphia and was not impressed with Mastros food here in DC!

Very poor customer service . Sat in a mall crowded table . Took 45 minutes to sit and 1.5 hours for food to arrive . Awful experience
Overall it wasn’t a good experience. First it took them about 30 mins to sit us at a table we had reserved for 8 , secondly our waiter forgot the bread we ordered. We asked him where it was and he said the kitchen was backed up , however a table that was seated about 15 mins after we were seated received theirs but yet we never received ours . I went there for my birthday dinner and I had to ask about the cake after we got our bill because clearly that was forgotten as well . Everyone at the table complained of salty food , one guest even had to send his Mac and cheese back because of it . Then when the bill came even tho 20% for gratuity is suggested that doesn’t mean you have to do it everyone gave their form of payment for the original amount and we’re going to tip on the card the waiter came back and told us we had to pay the price with the suggested tip pretty much forcing us to even tho his service was horrible . I’ve been to mastros several times but this was by far the worst experience I had with them and the fact it happened on my birthday made it even worse .

As always Mastro’s exceeded expectations. Rice was our server and he was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable about the food and cocktail menus. The ambience was on point. Perfect date night!

The food was not great. The steak we ordered was just terrible.
For a fine dining restaurant, it took too long for me to be served. I sat in the high chair area of the restaurant near the bar. The bar area was moderately full. There was only one bartender who doubled as the waiter in the bar area. I waited 15 minutes after being seated to receive service. I also wasn't offered a smaller portion size as done at other fine dining restaurants. I have had issues with the service at this restaurant on multiple occasions. The food, however, is outstanding. I hope they can get it together—otherwise outstanding experience.
I’ve this place, the food and drinks were awesome and the live entertainment was absolutely amazing.
I mean can Mastros do anything wrong. Their steak is impeccable. The service is nice. And even if they undercook your steak, they’ll fix it very quickly and professionally. Highly recommend and of course I’ll be back. Yes it’s expensive but highly worth it.
Food was poor- overly cooked - not cooked to the right temperature and everything was served Luke warm ( you could tell things were sitting for a while before it was served). In addition, everything was over salted. Quality of food and service was unacceptable for a steak house. Had to constantly send items back to have them re- done and water was never re- filled, we had to request and even then, slow to be filled up and food took forever to be served - only to be served Luke warm and cooked poorly. Very disappointed as we have been to other Mastros which is always a terrific dining experience however the DC location was very disappointing all around. Would not recommend or go back. There are many other steak houses to choose from that are consistent with quality of food and service.
