Masala y Maiz
Probably our best food experiences in Mexico City. From the wonderful menu guiding by Saqib to each amazingly delicious course laced with spices from Mexico and Asia led by Chef/Owner Norma. The design of the space is simple, yet elegant and supports the experience beautifully. We have been many times and are always surprised by the fantastic wine collection that pairs with the beautiful meal. A starter dish as simple as Esquites takes the traditional Mexican street food, and elevates it into orbit with curry spices, a unique mayonnaise and beautiful presentation. Five stars!
Food is incredible and we will definitely return again soon!
Excellent and amazing! Great natural wine selection, amazing host, and THE best food I had in the city.
Masala y Maiz is a very unique restaurant using sustainable foods. The food was absolutely delicious. The portions were VERY small, appetizer size. I would recommend the restaurant.
Sat in a long crowded hallway. Small portions. Left hungry
What a unique fusion of Mexican and Indian cuisines!! The quality was superb!
We all had an amazing time at Masala & Maiz. The dishes specially the fried chicken and the soft shell crab were incredible. Unique flavors and a nice surprise to find out their organic wine selection. Would definitely come back!
Wonderful ambience, food, and service. Inventive flavors, gorgeous presentation, and fairly priced for more upscale dining. Will be back!
Excellent experience, met new friends in a communal dining setting. The owners take care of every detail to create a special meal and make guests feel welcome. Lovely space, and highly recommended in Mexico City!
A wonderful experience!!
I will be back!
It was FABULOUS! The cuisine is creative and tasty. The environment is unique and friendly. Overall, a wonderful experience.
Exceptional. Once in a lifetime food in friendly atmosphere. If you have the opportunity to go, you must.
listen. this is important. THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT in CDMX.
that is all.
Masala y Maiz is an incredible find. Loved the food and the atmosphere, a must for anyone visiting CDMX.
The mix of Indian and Nexican food allowed for the chef to create some outstanding plates. Would recommend sharing, do you can enjoy more.
Most restaurants hyped as much as Masala Y Maiz don't really live up to the praise. Masala Y Maiz absolutely does - they deserve every word of praise they've gotten in the press and then some. Really unique, delicious, thoughtful cuisine with excellent FOH service too.
Comida creativa y diferente.
Una sola mesa común, por lo que es muy difícil no tener la necesidad de interactuar con los otros comensales, que son gente desconocida.
The food is innovative, the space is clever, there are tons of servers - but the service was very disappointing. When we ordered, our sever. Insisted we order six plates (although it was lunch and we felt 4-5 was likely enough.) five came quickly. We waited 35 for the 6th. When I asked, twice I was told it was coming and the third time - that we had already had it. I said, no we didn’t Waiter insisted we did. We went back and forth - I was astonished - even if he thought we were wrong surely the right thing to do was just bring it. Finally I said we would skip it and could we just have dessert. Waiter said there was one choice. My friend ordered it. Then the people next to us were offered an array of other desserts - which looked far nicer. All in all it left a very bad taste and we won’t go back despite all the buzz about this place.
Everything was tasty and it was a great experience. The seasonal wine selection was a nice surprise as well.
Phenomenal breakfast! Such interesting combo of flavors. Though a bit more straightforward, the biscuit was outstanding. Chole masala was so unique and wonderful. Dessert was fantastic. Well deserving of all its accolades
