By Renowned Mexican Chef, Enrique Olvera, Manta is the culinary centerpiece of The Cape, A Thompson Hotel. With an intriguing double meaning, the manta ray symbolizes the kitchen"s focus on seafood, while manta, the Spanish word for blanket, conveys the chef's emphasis on comfort. Acknowledge by the New York Times for his "way of confirming and subverting expectations of Mexican food at the same time," Olvera has drawn inspiration from the izakaya tradition to introduce a pan-Pacific concept of Mexican cuisine. The intimate, richly textured space features a dramatic exhibition kitchen and a curated beverage menu focused on mezcals, tequilas and sakes.

Enrique Olvera’s food shines at this fun and inviting restaurant. Although The service and atmosphere are not to go unmentioned as they alone would be reasons to visit the trendy and sophisticated cove. The wine list is wonderful as they cover all areas and include some wonderful wines from Mexico. The cocktails match the menu well and the staff can speak to all of the offerings eloquently.

I wouldn’t miss this seafood restaurant with Japanese omasaki inspiration. We had spectacular food (letting the chef do his thing) with the 4 course tasting. I wouldn’t have expected some if the dishes yet wouldn’t change a single thing as the combinations were comforting, playful and traditional feeling like they all belonged together.

Get there early and grab a drink and appetizer on the room, for yet another great view of Cabo San Lucas.

We sent back wagyu beef because it was pure fat. Then sent back the fish of the day twice because it was missing the sauce then came back cold.

For expensive pricing in an upscale hotel the food was less than average.

Definitely not worth the trip nor the money.

This was our 2nd time to Manta. Went last October and loved it but this time was disappointing. We started with the miso fish tacos and those were very good.
For dinner we ordered the catch up the day, sea bass. I asked if it came with any sides and they said no. The menu sides were sweet potatoes for $32 or rice for $22! So
we decided to just go with the meal. They served the fish in a small bowl on a piece of lettuce. The smallest portion of fish I’ve ever had. Looked more like an
appetizer. Was also extremely spicy hot! So hot I couldn’t eat it. I told our waiter and he offered to bring me another order of fish tacos instead yet still
charged us for the sea bass. The waiter spoke English so fast that we had a hard time understanding him. They also had a lack luster attitude and never smiled.
I told them that my water glass was chipped and after they replaced it they wanted to charge me for another bottle of water. My husband said but her last glass was chipped. Then another waiter said they won’t charge us for the water. The bill was expensive but we knew it would be going in, yet we thought we’d get excellent service with good food. We got neither. Won’t be back.

We had a reservation for an indoor able, ended up waiting 25 minutes only to be seated outside on a very windy night (and surrounded by open tables), which really ruined the experience. We literally had garnishes blowing off of our plate, and the food became cold almost immediately. Food wasn't bad but definitely wasn't worth the price. Almost $30 for the fried chicken which turned out to basically be 4 chicken tenders with a bland sauce. Seafood was good, would recommend limiting your order to that.

We were very excited to eat here as the hotel is magnificent and the restaurants looks spectacular . The service was excellent, the sommelier came to our table ( we sat outside T 7:00 pm to see the views of the beach ) he asked us if we wanted a recommendation but we decided to have the sake the waiter recommended instead it was delicious, $17.00 a glass but worth it .
I ordered the blue fin Tuna sashimi to start and my husband got the watermelon salad both very fresh and delicious . When we received our entree the “ catch of the day “ sea bass we were disappointed as the dish looked more like an appetizer then an entree it was very tiny and we finished it in about 3 seconds, it was less then 3-4 oz of food for $33.00 each . We actually thought he split our entree ... we were still hungry and took another look at the menu to see what else we could eat but at that point just got dessert . That was good it was a chocolate sponge cake with vanilla ice cream for $15.00.
All in all it was a beautiful restaurant but potions are tiny so just be aware of that . Service was excellent!

Excellent views with outside seating. Service is quite good but value is terrible. Charging $28 for 3 pieces of sashimi is outrageous. Wonderful dish but the prices for appetizers are not in line with other great dinning options in Cabo. Guacamole and chips are also very mediocre and not well seasoned. Fish of the day was very good but be warned... all portions are quite small. . Fish tacos were also average flavor. Not sure if it was an off night but no one in our party felt this was a dinner worth the big price tag.

Setting , desserts and service are the highlight. There are better dinning options if you are looking for a memorable meal.

The dinner was vastly overpriced and the food mostly very mediocre- trying to be unique by being unusual (ie sweet potato with mole). Only really good thing was blue fin sashimi- rest was not very good. Corn salad was particularly boring.

Gorgeous view; wait staff was cold and unfriendly. Food was not good- I ordered strip steak and my husband ordered chicken. Both were seemingly fried and did not taste good at all. Save your money as it was very expensive for horrible food

As is the case with most restaurants in this areas, Manta is at a resort. The outdoor patio overlooks the water and has a great view. Service was over the top with 2 waiters assigned to our party of 2. They were helpful and attentive but did not hover. The food was good but honestly was not great and so I would have to say the value proposition here is lacking. We knew going in that the servings were tapas sized so we each chose the 4 course tasting menu. You get to select 4 your courses (with the exception of the Wagyu which is extra) so my husband picked all protein courses. I had the watermelon salad, the hamachi, hanger steak and lobster tacos. The watermelon salad was great. Refreshing but with a bit of spice kick. The hamachi was also superb. The steak was not great. It was tough and had a fair amount of gristle and fat. The lobster tacos (you get 2, each is on a 3 inch tortilla) were good but there was so little of it to enjoy. The wine prices were very high and our mixed drinks were $18-$20 each. Overall I thought the food experience did not justify the cost. But the view is great and if you want to try a number of items with no budget in mind give it a try.

Surprised my husband for his birthday. We started out at the rooftop bar. Great band and the view. AMAZING !!! Then we went to Manta. Beautiful table outside We did the sampling. Great way to have a little of everything !!! Our waiter was so knowledgeable. He picked out one of our courses. And we bring from NY was informed they have. Restaurant in NYC. !!! Overall experience 5 star.

Loved the sunset. The corn salad was outrageous. Loved the service. It was our birthdays and they were kind to bring a piece of cake for us. Couldn’t sa a negative thing about the experience. We also loved the band playing in the lobby. We listened to them play a set.

I ordered the fried chicken bites and when I cut into them they were completely raw. Everyone knows you can’t eat raw chicken as it will make you very sick. They took it back and recooked it. Unfortunately I lost my appetite at that point. In the end they still charged me $30 usd for the chicken We were also guests at the resort, so during our checkout I had to ask for a refund on that. They didn’t seem very apologetic which was unfortunate. Maybe this happens often, who knows. But I don’t recommend ordering any meat products from there.

This is a spectacular place with very creative food beautifully prepared and elegantly presented. Portions are definitely on the small side and prices are very high for the area, but for a special occasion meal I can't think of a more impressive and memorable location.

The ambiance was terrific. The food and drinks were expensive for the offering. Food was very good, best the entrees were more appetizers in size. The drink portions were a joke.

We had a wonderful dinner at Manta with amazing service from Samuel. I highly recommend getting the 4-course tasting menu as the plates are small and this will give you the most value ($78 for tasting menu vs. $20-30 per plate). And if you can get a table for sunset the view is incredible!!

Always delivers. View is great from the terrace dining. We did the tasting menu this time. Winners were the sashimi, corn salad, scallops, suckling pig and lobster tempura tacos. Only the ramen missed as it was too salty. For desserts the fried bananas and chocolate sponge cake really topped the meal off. Great service for food and wine. Reasonable prices for wine and food for the quality and experience. Will be back again next year in January when we visit.

The restaurant was beautiful and the staff very attentive. Unfortunately 2/4 diners could not find selections they could eat.
This restaurant is good for foodies. The staff directed us to another restaurant in the hotel -The Legend- where we had an excellent meal!

The views from outside or in the corner at Manta are breathtaking. The food is exquisite but having eaten all over the world and in Michelin starred restaurants, I think the prices are too high. The portions are VERY small. Cocktails are in the $15-20 range. This has been our go-to fancy meal of the trip but prices have gone up over the last year.

The setting is dramatic and beautiful. The food is creative, fresh, and artistic. What appeared to be a traditional steak dish with a dollop if avocado purée was brought to a new level of delight with the addition of hand made corn tortillas that were the best I had all week. The service was superb. We loved dining here and can’t wait to return.
