By Renowned Mexican Chef, Enrique Olvera, Manta is the culinary centerpiece of The Cape, A Thompson Hotel. With an intriguing double meaning, the manta ray symbolizes the kitchen"s focus on seafood, while manta, the Spanish word for blanket, conveys the chef's emphasis on comfort. Acknowledge by the New York Times for his "way of confirming and subverting expectations of Mexican food at the same time," Olvera has drawn inspiration from the izakaya tradition to introduce a pan-Pacific concept of Mexican cuisine. The intimate, richly textured space features a dramatic exhibition kitchen and a curated beverage menu focused on mezcals, tequilas and sakes.

Me and my wife have had the pleasure of visiting Enrique Olvera’s Pujol and Cosme as well as Chef Daniela’s Atla. We’re familiar with their excellent restaurants and style. Manta is their pacific coast style cuisine and since we grew up with that kind of food we were pretty excited about the place. The place delivers, mostly. Unlike Cosme and Pujol, Mantra seems to cater to a more casual crowd and dress code even though the place is extremely nice. I would’ve loved to see a little stricter dress code but I guess this is the kind of client they want to attract. Food was excellent. They have a mixture of Peruvian, Baja and Japanese fusion which tastes as interesting as it sounds. I felt some of the plates were kind of out of place. The Scallop Sashimi was amazing as well as the Tuna a O Toro, the problem was that they don’t seem to flow together. We also had several salads and ceviche’s that were from very good to outstanding. My biggest problem was with our main course which was something out of menu that was highly recommended by the waiter. It was so hyped up that we decided to give it a try. It was a Mariscada with rice, in other words: a Paella. I wish he would’ve described it that way as we would’ve never order this as we are not big fans and I don’t think it’s remotely close to what they want to sell here. The flavor was predictable (unlike everything else we’ve tried in all their restaurants) and was easily the worst plate we’ve had in any Enrique Olvera restaurant. It was in no way bad, it was just not special. Overall it was very good, I would definitely recommend it, it just doesn’t get the perfect score that their other restaurants get because of those two things. Next up: Elio!

Amazing food, amazing views, amazing service, amazing experience! Yes it’s pricey but it is worth it. Each course is so thought out and meticulously composed. We (party of 3) did the chefs sample and lost count of the dishes we had and were stuffed! I wouldn’t describe this restaurant as “fusion” food because the ties from Mexican, Peruvian and Japanese are so seamless. Even there kids menu was super tasty! If you’ve gotten this far in this review, thank you but also go make a reservations already!

Fabulous meal in an incredibly beautiful setting! Food was amazing! Afterwards we went upstairs to check out the Rooftop Bar which we also loved! Highly recommend this delightful place!

We had an unbelievable experience on the balcony patio overlooking the sunset. We enjoyed a fabulous 10 course dinner paired with premium wines throughout. Each course was delicately displayed and tasted wonderful. We highly recommend the octopus skewers, scallops, sashimi, watermelon salad and ocean salad. They were very kind for the birthday celebration and brought a beautiful dessert as well ❤️ the service was absolutely divine.

Manta is a very unique experience in Cabo. We started up at the rooftop with cocktails at sunset. The music was atmospheric. Then on to dinner at Manta. The decor has a great vibe. Service was outstanding. The food was a mix of Peruvian, Japanese and Mexican with very fresh ingredients, beautifully crafted. We loved it!

The four of us did the individual $90 tasting menu. Everything was good except the urchin tostada and the sashimi. The mushroom soup and the prime steak were outstanding. The server brought out all the desserts, which were excellent. On a side note, they added on a 15% gratuity on the food bill. I am glad I asked about it before paying. We throw in extra cash to make the tip 20% as all the servers were very patient since we had a lot of questions regarding the menu. We went to the rooftop bar first to order our cocktails. Unfortunately, when it came time to pay, I didn't notice the 15% gratuity and added on another $12.00 to the bill. So be aware of this. Otherwise, it was a good once in a lifetime experience. The views were outstanding.

Honestly may be one of my favorite restaurants all time. Almost perfect. The food amazing, the ambiance was wonderful. The service however was very disappointing. It wasn’t crowded and our waiter took a while to come ask us what we wanted to drink/ eat. We were annoyed trying to find him so we ended up ordering from another waiter. We also asked our first waiter for suggestions and he said everything is good. So overall It was good and I would go back but it was the service that I was disappointed in and hope it gets better next time I come.

Excellent, creative food. Waiter a bit distracted while speaking to us. Music way too loud (like everywhere at The Cape Hotel, except the Ledge restaurant), in a room that already reviberated from a noisy table nearby. Reserved an outside table through Open Table, but inexplicably not available--"40 minute wait." Overall, a disappointment, and we should have gone back to the wonderful outdoor dining at the Ledge.

Amazing dinner! The fish was delicate and fresh and everything was super flavorful. Cocktails were inventive and absolutely delicious. Our servers Sofy and Mau and Manuel were excellent. Attentive and fun to talk with and gave great recommendations.

Everything about our dining experience was exceptional. Our waiters Oliver and Raul were knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and every dish they recommended was delicious.
The Sommelier (sorry I can’t remember his name) was outstanding and returned to our table time after time to refresh our glasses and check on us. Is it a cheap night? No, but you go there knowing what you are going to get, and boy, do they deliver!

Fantastic meal. Recommend the five-course tasting menu. We had a perfect Casa Madero wine with dinner, but unfortunately, it was 4x-5x retail price. Manta doesn't need to gouge that much. But all in all one of the best meals we've ever had.

Had a group of 8. Went upstairs to The. Roof for sunset and cocktails before our reservation. They were gracious enough to let the restaurant know we were running 10 min. Late. Had a wonderful meal. The Fried chicken was the most popular. The octopus was good and the rest was fine. Had an after dinner Cocktail and it was amazing.
Definitely worth a trip back. It was very pricey!

Manta is certainly one of the best restaurants in Cabo. The restaurant is beautiful, view is magical, the food is outstanding, and the service is impeccable. My wife even got Spanish lessons from Manuel between courses. I recommend trying the tasting menu which allows each diner to pick out 5 course from the menu. . Each diner gets to pick out his/ her own courses allowing you to try out most or all of dishes on the menus. Together my wife and I picked out 9 dishes, saving one for dessert. Each one was better than the next from the ceviche to the N.Y. strip steak.
