Some servings were barely enough for one person, let alone three. Mostly all of our food choices were extremely tasty. Staff very attentive and friendly. Toilet bins overflowing and paper towels over the floor. Ambience was not very warm. Some simple fixes and attention to details would easily raise the experience.
For four people thought the antipasto was very minimal and need more bread!
Nice spot to have lunch. Dined inside but outside was set out well. Took a while before staff attended to our table and had to ask for menu. Timing of courses was good. Food was good but for the price we paid per head we expected more - not more food as there was plenty but expected quality to be better than it was. Had high expectations so was a little disappointed. The rest of my family also agreed on this. For example the antipasto was great but not enough bread between everyone to finish off the course. Pasta was a little bland and not hot enough. Chicken was good with lots of flavours that went well together. Eggplant was also good but I preferred the thinly sliced ones to the eggplant that was cut in wedges. Nice with the pomegranate and chickpeas. We were all excited about the dessert - we all had the affogato - we all agreed that there was not enough icecream - a shame because the icecream was very good - nice flavours.
Our table of 3 had the Feed me like Lou menu on Easter Monday and did not enjoy our visit as much as we'd hoped. We've been to Lou's Place before in January and felt the food quality was not as good this time. A few of the courses seemed overcooked or undercooked and we wondered if the kitchen was just not keeping up. It was fairly busy which gave a great lively atmosphere. Service was great with plenty of friendly, attentive staff. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Our side of greens were so undercooked they were almost inedible. Our tomato and mozarella starter barely had any tomato with 3 halved cherry tomatoes. Our mains of pork and beef were both well cooked but could have done with more pan juices or sauce for moisture and flavour. The food wasn't bad enough to complain about but was probably not good enough to come back for.
We had the feed me slow option from the menu. Food tasted great and serving sizes generous. We couldn't eat it all.
Food service flowed nicely and staff are friendly and professional.
I loved the food and the surroundings but I am afraid I dislike the ordering system. I much prefer to choose my own meal without having to worry if my choice is acceptable to others. I would recommend Lou's Place to friends but with a warning about the menu.
Delicious, fresh food. We had a celiac on our table who was well catered for - they got gluten free pasta while the rest of the table had regular pasta. Lots of food, great value for money.
Fantastic food. Service a bit slow to start (they were very busy) but then very attentive. Has been excellent both times I’ve been there recently.
The food was very good but it is the inflexibility of the choice of food for 7 of us that was a BIG thumbs down! The restaurant should cater to the needs of the guests not the kitchen. Not everyone of us like the same food. We will not go back until this change.
We will recommend to friends but with a big BUT!
A lovely dining experience. They catered for food allergies without hesitation and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was a problem. This was a fabulous place to dine and catch up with friends and family or have a quite romantic meal. Highly recommend.
we had a fantastic afternoon sharing wonderful food with great friends, wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable with the menu and recommendations were spot on.
Will be back
We were curious about Lou’s new shared meal concept and having lived in Asia for a long time knew how common and pleasant shared dining is.
Lou didn’t let us down. The menu is extensive, the food well presented and delicious. And off course the wine is superb. My wife commented that it was the best meal she’s had. I wouldn’t go that far but it was pretty special. We’re going back soon
Fabulous. Went there twice in one week and enjoyed it both times
Lovely food, the pasta ragout was our favourite along with the antipasto plate
Great experience. Nice to see owners/chefs mingle with patrons and help staff
We choose the feed me menu and every single plate that came out did not disappoint.
We had the middle choice on the menu; found it plenty to eat and enjoyed our choices. The service and atmosphere was excellent.
The agnolotti was amazing. A good range of interesting wines.
Fabulous food but far too much of it, we had feed me like Lou if I went again I would go for the $59 option. Wine was expensive with a big mark up on the cellar door price $40 bottle of wine was $65.
Great food, value for money and excellent service.
Great food and service. A nice venue in the Barossa for a long and relaxing lunch.
A serated knife would have been in order to cut the beef main course as it was very slightly under cooked and we could not attract the floor staff to ask until it was too late.
Overall though a great experience.
Throughly enjoyed our day relaxing, enjoying food and wine and the sauce making day !!
Amazing! Beautiful food and beautiful place to dine, relax and unwind. Well worth the drive
The service was very prompt, with plenty of staff to meet our needs. The range of food was good. You could have a decent conversation without having to shout. It was good to have a bit of history, photos etc of the winery around.
Food was delicious and very generous serves. An enjoyable afternoon with good wines.
Food was ok, the garfish and potato salad were extremely acidic and lacked depth of flavour. The garfish was cooked perfectly and this should be the hero of the dish. Charred greens were perfection. Although ordering a wine, staff kept hassling us to purchase more drinks and even suggested soft drink. This happened on 3 occasions and we clearly were happy to drink water at that stage.
Everything was perfect. Great setting, great service, friendly, awesome food.
Great place for an awesome lunch and a glass or 2 of wine. Food was exceptional quality and just a fantastic place to visit.
Lous place is a must visit in the Barossa Valley. Great food, atmosphere, service and wine!
I recently picked Lou's place for my partners birthday, and it didn't disappoint. I highly recommend giving it a try.
It was the second day of the new menu, we enjoyed being able to select a variety of dishes to eat. The staff were great and the food lovely.
The food was very fresh with very interesting flavours. We loved it.
Beautiful food great wine service exceptional
Fantastic service and interaction from staff and owner
So much variety with food but all pairs well
Great food, great place! Lovely ambience although chairs outside can use a cushion if you are sitting there for over 1 hr!
We ordered the larger meal, then selected the individual dishes. Each dish was wonderful. Even the bits that came with, like walnuts were beautifully cooked. I can't remember everything but the overall feeling was outstanding. We even took some home.
I definitely want to come again.
Lovely venue and service but there where it stops. The food was soo disappointing, some courses were overcooked, some undercooked. The flavours weren't balanced and most dishes were not pleasant to eat at all. Not one thing I would order again. The tables around us didn't seem to be finishing their meals either.... hopefully a bad day in the kitchen but certainly won't be back to find out. So many other nice places to eat around the barossa and wine regions in Adelaide for the same $$$. The wine was nice but food was beyond disappointing.
Amazing food and value. Well worth a visit or for a special occasion.
A beautiful selection of shared plates - each more delicious than the last. Simple dishes full of fkavour.
