Tamarindos is a Mexican farm-to-table restaurant located in San José del Cabo, at the tip of México's Baja Peninsula, only a mile from the Sea of Cortez. The farm and restaurant occupied the side of a former 19th-century sugar cane plantation. In 2003, owner and executive chef Enrique Silva spearheaded the property's return to agriculture, this time becoming a sustainable farm, one if the first in the area. Today Tamarindos, in addition to the restaurant, offers cooking classes, roasts sustainable Mexican coffee onsite, and has just opened bungalows for our guests.

Quite an interesting drive to get there, but we’ll worth it. Atmosphere is unique and comfortable. Food we amazing. Service was spot on.

By far the best meal in the area! Fantastic service too. Highly recommend any fresh fish, we had yellowtail sashimi which was perfection. The shrimp tacos in jicama tortilla shells was so fantastic, we had them for appetizers AND dessert! Do yourself a favor and take the trip.

We were celebrating our 7 year anniversary and it was not only not mentioned but also not celebrated. Hospitality goes a long way and maybe they didn’t read the notes on the reservation but we also happened to mention it to the server and nothing. Not even congratulations. Maybe they are homophobic? Wouldn’t return.

El ambiente es muy atractivo. El diseño del restaurante es rústico y me encanta. El servicio es excelente. La única degradación de este restaurante es el sabor y las opciones de la comida. Por la clase y el precio considerables de una comida aquí, la comida debería ser mejor.

The ambiance is very attractive. The design of the restaurant is rustic and I love it. The service is excellent. The only downgrade for this restaurant is the food taste and choices. For the considerable class and price of a meal here, the food should be better.

One of my favorite dining experiences in Cabo. Laid back atmosphere. Wonderful view and good. Friendly service. The quail was AMAZING and fresh vegetables and desserts were great.

We made a note it was a special occasion. Waiter congratulated us, gave us a nice table, then forgot us. We ordered apps and drinks, but only got one app. Then our meals came, so we cancelled the other app, ordered a 2nd round of drinks but he forgot those as well. We finished our meals with no cocktails or water and asked for the check. Waiter told us they would comp drinks and send dessert but we wanted to leave. They took our card, forgot about us again… when we finally got the bill there were no comp’ed drinks, but they did write a note to ask for tip in cash… we couldn’t help but laugh, then promptly leave.

The flies made dinner almost impossible to eat. The drive to the farm is downright sad, why doesn’t this owner use some of the money they earn to clean up the neighborhood? It is tragic the conditions of the small community outside the restaurant; seems he would take more interest outside of just his property. Pretty farm, shame about the flies and the condition of the neighborhood.

The food was beyond amazing. There were 3 of us at the table. We all had different cocktails/drinks and different appetizers. We had the vegetable crudité, grilled caesar salad and coconut grouper ceviche. The coconut grouper ceviche stood out as the tastiest and we would all definitely order that again. For our entrées, two of us had the local catch of the day (sea bass) and one had the pork shank which was an off-menu special. The pork was fall apart tender. The sea bass seasoned to perfection. For dessert we had the mango pie, key lime pie and chocolate ice cream. The chocolate ice cream was thick and creamy. Definitely order that for dessert!

Our waiter, Jorge, was very helpful with descriptions of the specials and food recommendations. We have recently relocated to Cabo and have only had about 6 weeks of Spanish lessons. Jorge allowed us to stumble through our dining experience with Spanish so we could practice and spoke English when necessary. He was patient and entertaining.

Just a caution--as another reviewer noted, the menu prices posted on their website do not match the receipt given to us. They were all about $20 pesos higher. The website pricing needs to be updated. Also--tips are CASH ONLY.

Gorgeous setting. Incredibly fresh food. The best ceviche I’ve ever had in my life! The management and ownership are very involved and helpful. Impeccable service. You must visit while in los Cabos.

Great ingredients misguided execution. For example the farm had a whole grove of ripe fresh mangoes but the mango pie on the menu was this dense congealed matter that was devoid of any mango flavor. The coconut ceviche was swimming in coconut sauce where you could not distinguish between the fish and other ingredients which made it one-note lacking complexity that is in great Mexican cuisine. The Rosemary Gin and Tonic was as unimaginative as it is diluted. Perhaps infuse the Rosemary into the gin rather than just sticking a stalk of Rosemary in a Watered down version of a classic? The British would be rioting. The place has potential but they need to improve on rethinking their understanding of the farm-to-table concept. The service was fine at best. Waiter was more interested in looking at the iPad than helping customers. Need to rethink their concept of hospitality as well. To summarize nothing was particularly terrible and nothing was terribly good. Please don’t take this personally just want to be honest. Perhaps it was an off day.

This is a hard no. Don’t waste a good meal opportunity on Tamarindos. The farm to table dining experience in Cabo has some amazing options and this is not one of them. The setting is fine if you don’t take exception to pungent herbs being burnt all around you to ward off bugs. We sincerely looked forward to dining here and when we arrived we had open minds. The service was awful. Saw our waiter once for drink order and then not again til he picked up our partially consumed entrees. A manager took our order and a busser did literally everything else. The appetizers were fine but bland - caprese and grilled romaine. The entrees were not edible. We all ordered either the lemongrass chicken or the pesto pasta. The chicken was beyond dry and inedible. The pasta took al dente to a whole new level.
Our biggest concern though was the bar staff. We were seated in close proximity to the bar and the bartenders were continually talking about our daughters. One of us in our group is fluent in Spanish and the bartenders made no effort to disguise their constant banter and dialogue about our table. But worst of all was witnessing the bartender TASTE CUSTOMERS drinks with his mouth on their glass before sending them out to be served multiple times. He didn’t even try to hide it - pandemic or not that is just beyond unsanitary and disgusting.
Acre is the most amazing farm to table experience and the staff are professional and the food is beyond amazing. Do not go to Tamarindo under any circumstances…..

Wonderful F2T experience. Visited one of the other F2T places in area and Las Tamarindos was by far the best with a more local atmosphere and helpful friendly staff. We were met when dropped off by Uber and shown around and led to bar area prior to dinner seating. When "we" decided to eat dinner we were seated and proceeded to try man things on the menu between the four of us. The Coconut grouper ceviche appetizer was especially memorable as were the specialty drinks from the bar. Will definitely go back the next time in San Jose.

Always outstanding and this meal was no exception. Tried the pesto pasta with shrimp for the first time and it was amazing. Also had the monkfish special as well as a couple of incredible seafood appetizers. Servers were warm and attentive, not in a rush and stress free.

Tamarindo is a beautiful, laid-back and special place. If you’re looking for glitz and glam in a farm to table restaurant, this is not the place. But if you want amazing food and service, incredible drinks and a beautiful rustic atmosphere, there is no better restaurant.
