Welcome to Lil's Bar & Bistro; we are a small, family run British Bistro serving fresh homecooked food to order. Located on the River Ouse we have a one-of-a-kind view for our customers to enjoy whilst they dine with us. Our talented chefs have created some exquisite dishes for us, their signature dishes being the Philly Steak sandwich and our most popular being the Steak, Ale & Mushroom Pie.

We offer 2 for £25 on selected meals and sandwiches Monday-Friday!

Customers can also get cosy with a Coffee and Cake. We have a selection of cakes and hot beverages to choose from for our customers to sit back, unwind or start their day with.

Our renowned Sunday Lunch is a must try. A choice of 3 meats served with all the trimmings & homemade Yorkshire puds.

We are located a stones throw away from The Grand Opera House and York Dungeons and a short walk into the city centre for all other attractions.

It was a beautiful Friday to start May off and a bank holiday weekend, the banks of the River Ouse were teeming with people enjoying themselves and Lil's had a lovely spot by the river, however, we chose to sit just inside where the windows were wide open and we could sit at a high seat and table watching the world go by. For our meal we sat at a lower table and nothing was too much trouble, we were looked after by Ben, who was fantastic and always checked on us to make sure we had all we needed and to replenish our drinks. A lovely venue, food was lovely and the atmosphere great. Thank you

It was a Sunday teatime . Very quiet . We used the £15 voucher 2 courses from York restaurant week. 2 of the group ordered fish & chips . The fish was dripping in oil from the batter which covered our plates . We had to use serviettes to mop up the oil off the plates . Food was nothing special . The £15 voucher made reasonable value . The Steak & Guinness home made pie had a full pastry case and friend said it was tasty . Service was quick & polite .

Really enjoyed our meal. Great steak pie, full of meat. Boys loved there burgers and fish. Lovely staff. Great location.

Had a lovely intimate valentines meal at Lils. The front entrance was closed due to the river flood however they reached out in advance to let us know where to find the rear entrance. The food was delicious and it was a lively atmosphere. The service was fantastic and cocktails also lovely and good value. Would definitely recommend and come back.

The food here is amazing, I had the steak and Guinness pie and wasn’t sure what to expect however, I was certainly pleasantly impressed. It wasn’t just a bowl of meet with a pastry lid but an actual pie. The only thing I would suggest is maybe having the option to switch from chips to mashed potato. My friend had the fish and chips and said that it was perfectly cooked and the batter was nice and crispy. The service from the welcome to the leaving was very polite and professional. The only down side from a personal point is it was a little warm but that’s neither here nor there.

Food : pie was homemade . Lots of meat . Delicious. Sirloin steak cooked to perfection for Medium. Fish & Chips large fish . Service top rate friendly staff . Ambience , sat in front BA looking o to the river . Very loud with voices from next table . Echoing. Overall good performance experience. Def go again

Amazing food and service! We had a lovely meal here, such a lovely find by the riverside. We sat in the window which was perfect looking over the river. I had the halibut which was especially lovely!

I booked for my hubbys birthday as he loved this place when we went to York. My booking was all confirmed 2 weeks prior to the date and when I turned up they was shut. I didn’t get notified that they was shut or anything. I know there was flood a few days before, would not of hurt them to send a email out saying that they was not open due to the floods. All other pubs was open nexts door, so no excuse really.
