This historically unique location houses the new restaurant from Matt O'Neil chef/owner of The Blue Ox in Lynn. O'Neil collaborates with Executive Chef, Daniel Gursha, formerly of Bambara, Cambridge and A Voce and Bouley in New York City, offering a progressive New England concept, where traditional 19th-century dishes, cocktails, and techniques will be elevated with 21st-century resources.

    Our rating is due to some mixup in kitchen . We waited over an hour between appetizers and main course. Wait staff did apologize but did not explain or own the problem . Also very very loud and not good for people with hearin aides. That sai, the food was excellent and good portions

    Our absolute favorite restaurant in the area. The food is consistently delicious, not to mention the drinks. And the weight staff is outstanding. Eating outside in the fall in Salem is wonderful.

    Overall, not a pleasant experience for us. We chose it over others because the ambience looked cool, being in an old bank and all. But we were tucked away in the back by the kitchen galley door despite our asking not to be, so we didn't quite experience the vibe. There's also a 3% added charge to every check, apparently to be able to hire better staff, but it feels like nickel and diming. The food is already pricey, but seriously, better to add a dollar or two to every meal than make the customer feel taken advantage of. The food was actually really good, but if I were to ever visit Salem again, for what we paid, I would choose a different place that made me feel more appreciated.

    This was our third visit to Ledger. The food is always delicious and the waitress was gracious. However on this visit the noise volume was really high and we waited a long time for everything. Although it looked like there were plenty of wait staff, it took a long time just to give our food order. Our drinks came pretty quickly. Our appetizers were reasonably well timed but then our entrees didn't come for a long time. We were there at 6:45 and didn't get our entrees until around 8:30. The waitress was very gracious and our appetizers were comped and it was clear that something had gone wrong, though no one told us what. The food was great though there could have been more than one special as the menu is small. Last night's special was filet mignon and it was priced at $70, approximately twice what most entrees cost. It would've been nice to have another option for a bit less. The noise level was very high. Higher than the last two times I'd been there. That's probably hard to control. It's a beautiful space with nice people and good food, but waiting almost two hours for our entrees was a bit much.

    We had a fantastic evening at the Ledger. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. The service was impeccable—our server Maggie was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quality evening.

    We dined twice during our Salem stay. Food is exceptional, we tried multiple appetizers and main courses, no complaints about anything. Super friendly staff!

    Great meal, get the duck. Tuna tartare was amazing, my husband thought it was spicy. But he’s a wimp.
