FRENCH ONION SOUP BURGER

FRENCH ONION SOUP
Food was outstanding. Professional staff understood our dining requirements (I.e. not in a hurry). Wine pairing suggestions on target. Discrete service. Little things made the difference (I.e. water glass never empty, food came out hot). Definitely a repeat place.
Nice French atmosphere (if eating indoors). Large portions of very good food. Save space for the genuine Tarte Tatin -- my favorite dessert.
Been coming here for many years. We haven’t been disappointed prices are fair and the food is amazing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
lovely French restaurant with traditional dishes. Jazz trio was a nice addition.
Always a ‘must’ when visiting NYC for the best steak au poivre in the City! Charming, intimate ambiance transports you to France.
Really enjoy the live jazz which always has a mix of stellar players but last night was the first hearing a wonderful pianist/singer Barrett Taylor whose mix of Broadway and classics added perfectly to the ambiance. Great, attentive service. Merci!
Terrific meal. Trout Almondine was perfect. Love this place!
This place is great. The French onion soup, steak frites and beef bourginone were to die for! Plus, the ambience on a Saturday night on restaurant row with live jazz music playing was so fun!
Ate outside and it was most pleasant. Outside was on the southern side of west 46th st.’s
restaurant row. Very little auto traffic-lots of people watching. Food and service was very good. Staff happy to have you there.
I meet with old friends at Le Rivage. This is the second time we have gotten together here. We were so happy to learn they came out of the pandemic and are open for business! They still had the 3 course prix fix for $35.00 which is a wonderful bargain. The food is delicious and the service very good.
Just wonderful with an excellent menu. I chose to eat inside which was very comfortable while there were more people eating outside.
The service was very good. My husband and I ordered the escargot and baked seafood crepe. Both were divine. The snails were very meaty! The crepe... Oh my God. For our main courses, my husband got the boeuf bourguignon and it was very delicious. The beef practically melted in my mouth. I got the Canard à L’Orange and it was OK. As someone who LOVES orange, the orange flavor was overpowering. I will have to revisit on a cooler day because I really wanted to try the French onion soup but it was a hot evening and not cool enough (for my preference) inside to try it.
I recommend Le Rivage for all good reasons: the service was perfect. The cuisine was amazing, and the choice was great. Food and wine were delicious.
The food was great as well as the service. There a few authentic French dishes on the menu. Friday through Sunday live jazz.
We try to come here on every visit to New York. And to celebrate New York reopening, we booked our first dinner here. How lucky to come on a night of live music at the piano. The food was just as good as we remembered, and the service outstanding.
Fabulous dinner, superb service -- thank you! We look forward to returning soon.
Dinner before a play! A sign that life is returning to normal!!!
Love the house made Sangria with our meal
Excellent Traditional French Cuisine & the star of the show: French Onion Soup Burger. No other burger comes close.
I have dined at Le Rivage for probably 10 years, every time I am in the city.
I have brought many friends here and we have always enjoyed the experience.
The food is always wonderful. My friend loves the frog legs. I have tried most everything on the menu at least once, and have never been disappointed.
This year they have outdoor dining. We dined in the back room, which is my personal favorite. Don't miss dessert, the peach melba is wonderful.
Le Rivage is a gem.
Excellent and attentive customer service. Outstanding cuisine selections and very tasteful. Reminds me of Paris. Jazz performances were very good.
I’m so glad this restaurant made it through COVID-19. Traditional French bistro fare perfectly prepared. I had delicious escargot and my friend opted for moules farci, and we both had the trout almandine. For dessert creme caramel and chocolate mousse. Wonderful hospitality and service. Looking forward to my next visit!
I am staying at a hotel nearby so I decided to come here because I was thinking of ordering the onion burgers. Instead I had the squash soup special as an appetizer. It was just okay. For dinner I had the calves liver special which was very good. Overall a pleasant experience with what I believe to be consistently reliable food.
Friendly, professional service. Excellent French food.
We had a lovely outdoor dining experience at Le Rivage. We were worried about the temperature, so the staff installed a heater on the spot in case we were chilly. Delicious meal (marrow bone, seafood crepe, escargot, duck a l'orange) with everyone trying so hard to help get this city and it's vibrant restaurant scene moving again. Thank you.
The food and the service is always great.
Food was very good and the service was great! Also liked that we could eat outside even though it was raining. Will definitely be back.
We're long time fans of Le Rivage. Good news: They are on the way back!
The live music was very nice and the ambiance was great. French onion soup a little bland but otherwise great experience
I have been dining at Le Rivage for many years and it is always a wonderful experience.
Food was delicious. Service was good. Live jazz music was great!
This is our favorite restaurant in the theater district. It's run by a French family and they create the most wonderful tasty food. And they also have quick prix-fixe offerings if you're in a hurry. At this lunch our group enjoyed croque madame, mushroom risotto with chicken, duck a l'orange, and a butternut squash soup. We ended by sharing a lovely apple tart. By the way, their Le Rivage cocktail is so delicious that two of us consumed three of them! (It's based on grapefruit vodka, Aperol, lemon, pineapple and sparkling wine. Mmm!)
Food was only OK. The 4 piece band was obnoxiously loud...geez guys we're having dinner already! I was incensed when I noted a surcharge had been added to my bill for using a credit card....when I objected, the manager tried to convince me that this was standard in New York and that it was noted on the menu...he finally took a small item off my bill to make up for the surcharge. The place was freezing cold and when I asked the manager to close the front door he finally did so very begrudgingly. Dson't waste your tme or money here....very, very disappointing.
French onion burger is a must-have. Duck was very good too. Great service and warm, cozy, romantic ambiance. Staff did a wonderful job.
Had a wonderful dinner at one of my favorite restaurants after almost a year. So glad that outside dining was possible. Look forward to coming back soon. Food & Service as good as I remembered.
Delightful, delectable, delicious! My fiancé and I had been hearing about the French Onion Soup Burger, and could not wait to come try it when the restaurant re-opened. It blew our expectations away, and we cannot wait to return again!
On my husband's birthday i decided to treat him to Le Rivage restaurant
We both enjoyed the atmosphere ,the food and the service
There was live music that friday
Besides that ,the owner went out of his way to provide some useful information to my husband
I will recommend Le Rivage to anyone who is looking for a french restaurant in manhattan
What brought us here was the live jazz since most of the jazz clubs in NYC are still closed. The food was generally good but the frisee aux lardon traditionally is topped with a poached egg, their version had hard boiled eggs. The poached egg is what makes that dish special. Otherwise, you are paying $18 for a small side salad. My trout almondine could have used some little bit of sauce. Perhsps it was because I asked for gluten free, but the fish was a little bit on the dry side. The accompaning sides of green beans and rice were really good. My partner seemed to like her duck l'orange but I noticed she did not eat part of the filing of her seafood crepe, I'm not sure why. The molten chocolate cake was one of the best things I ever ate! Overall, I did enjoy the food and I would eat here again. But there is some room for improvement.
The jazz was great. For now, they have jazz every Friday and Sat evening. The musicians rotate but they are all regulars from the pre covid NYC jazz scene.
The decor is very nice and the service was very good. The prices are roughly the same as other fine NYC restaurants.
It’s just that we’ve never had a 3 star rating for the food, and that is our claim to fame. It’s definitely not a morale booster.
Nice quiet old-school and romantic place (inside) to spend our anniversary. Food was really good! - I have to say, better than the pictures would suggest. Service was superb and attentive without being overbearing. Go there! Keep them going.
Expect to have a foie gras at a french restaurant
Excellent value. Food and service were wonderful.
