Escargots de Bourgogne
Snails in parsley-garlic butter
I hadn’t been in a while and went for brunch...my steak and frites were good...I had the Nutella crepe for dessert. My guest also enjoyed their food. The brunch is a great deal!
Great food but be prepared to wait, both appetizers and main dishes both took about 20-30 mins to make it to our table but when they did it was so worth the wait, if you’re a fan of French Onion soup you’ll want to try it here. The ambiance is dark and romantic and the downstairs is cozy and intimate, looking forward to returning.
Great food and service.
Nice location, ambiance and really good music.
This was our 3rd meal here. The first two were dinners and were great - worthy of 5 stars. This time we came for brunch and had an incredibly disappointing experience. It started with the coffee which was lukewarm when served. Our server was not very attentive and had to be flagged down several times. It took quite a while for us to place our orders and even longer to get our food. When the food finally arrived one of the egg dishes was stone cold. Several of us ordered eggs Benedict and the English muffins were rock hard and impossible to cut with the knives provided. At no point we’re we offered any type of compensation for the sub-par service. We
Won’t be hurrying back...
We enjoyed our evening at Le Grenier immensely!!!!
Love Le Grenier - a real, classic French cafe without the pretentious prices. Half price wine bottle night was a bonus. I’ll be back!
Food was outstanding. Service was a tad slow/unattentive but not bad.
My pork dish smelled off--I told the waiter. He made some excuse that what was on the pork was the reason. Why would you serve pork that was off? And, then, he charged me for the dish!!
Never to return.
Service was excellent, food was amazing, really all you could ask for in a good date night.
Some highs and lows.
- Beef meal was fantastic, including sides, garnishes, etc
- Ambiance was awesome
- Free champagne while we waited
- Seafood was phenomenal, but sides were very subpar and pretty sparse
- We waited 45 minutes for our table in Valentines Day. We were not seated until 915 for 830 reservations.
- I listed gluten free on our reservations. I just recently started doing this and have been blown away by the service, with servers offering gluten free menus, breads, etc. Nothing this time, plus they just gave us the normal bread
Overall, I'd go back, but it had some pretty low points and I'd expect a bit better in some areas that should be no-brainers.
Great french food on H st. Nice ambiance though the music was a bit louder than expected. Excellent service and amazing food.
We love this neighborhood refuge. The owners are so welcoming, the service from everyone there, including at the bar, is so friendly, the ambiance is so warm, and the food is always very well prepared. Who would think whipped parsnips could be delicious???? Well it is, prepared by LeGrenier chef. Thank you for being here for us. I am certain the Washingtonian was quite mistaken to not have included Le Grenier in the top 100 for 2020.
The food is always amazing but the service is just soooo sloowwww. I get the whole “no rush European” thing but there’s no preparation for that and we’re hungry!!
Food was great; service was superb, great atmosphere!
Everything looked as it should but didn’t taste as well as it should —all form with little substance. Definitely not the best French food to be found in the District.
We live close to Le Grenier, and tried their brunch this weekend. The food was delicious - the baguette was warm from the oven, the onion soup was rich and savory and cheesy, and overall we had no complaints. The atmosphere is cute, a little kitschy (depending on your taste I guess). Overall I think this is a good option for small groups and casual dates. The brunch special was also a good price.
Mitzy is the best tasting somm, and Stephanie is the greatest bartender. Thanks
This restaurant is adorable and their brunch pre-fix menu is delicious as well as super affordable. We will definitely be coming back!
Awesome. Such a gem of a restaurant!
After seven years I still think this is one of the great staples of H St. NE. Brunch is solid – with great choices for everyone. Dinner is what you would expect of a neighborhood French restaurant- consistent and satisfying. Service is always good – and plenty of locals at the bar chatting with the bartender. All in all a lovely, warm place that I count on.
Quiet, intimate and charming. We made reservations around 8:30 on a Saturday night and were given the balcony table, which was a really great experience. We were able to just sit, talk and enjoy a fun meal from there until closing. A hidden gem.
Food is ok but nothing impressive or worth making a reservation to revisit. Our server is keen to present the name of the dish in French even though we’ve been speaking in English all along - feels kinda weird tbh. There are definitely better choices for French cuisine in DC.
The food s fantastic, live the decor and service!
I am in between because the flavors were excellent but I got a long hair in my duck! So that was gross. They did apologize and changed my food but that made the whole experience not that great!
Great night, ambiance, and the food and service was top notch
The food was excellent. I had the ground lamb, oh so wonderful. Very cozy atmosphere. We set upstairs
Le Grenier definitely rank in my top Fav5 of Restaurant Week experiences. From the helpful host/server to the delicious experience from the Starter down to the Dessert...which I'm usually not a dessert eater. I could go on and on raving about the experience. I will be returning soona!
Very cute restaurant! I loved the ambiance and space. My friend and I went during restaurant week for some really great food. I had the mushrooms, duck, and chocolate mousse. They had the escargot, the coq au vin, and a sorbet dessert. The food had excellent texture and flavours, but could have been a bit warmer in temperature? Overall great dinner that I would recommend to a friend.
Service needs to be improved
How do you run out of food on the first day of restaurant week?
Wow! Our 1st time here! The food was superb! We chose the duck and lamb from the "restaurant week' menu. The service was outstanding even though the restaurant was totally full. We loved the " antique attic" decor.
