I dont like This !!!
A must experience in Manhattan. One of the best dinners I've had in town. The service is impeccable, no surprise.
Just perfect ! What a Master.
Thanks to Christophe and Alain, the Show goes on. Merci.
Everything was good- the food, the options, the service.
However, for a $175 + per person (excl. wine) I did not find something really extraordinary (except for the deserts - they were incredible).
Highly recommend the duck and the chocolate souffle.
Great food! Great service!
Great experience! It was a birthday celebration which they forgot, otherwise everything was fantastic!
Great bar, friendly service, outstanding food and creative options. The only thing we would change is to have some salad options on the menu. This was an outstanding experience.
Went with great expectations. Ultimately disappointed. Food was good, but not what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The service was the only thing that was above average. Ambiance is very clubby with loud music. Ordered the tasting menu. I didn’t find any dish to be outstanding, mostly average to slightly above average.
Excellent food and service. Unique preparations carefully explained.
We went for our 30th wedding anniversary because we had been several times to the Paris location and it is our absolute favorite. The New York location is at least as great, if not better in some ways! The atmosphere is, like the one in Paris, sophisticated yet comfortable and the bar seating allows a view to the amazing kitchen and a great dialogue with the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food is beyond comparison. We opted for a series of small plates so that we could sample a lot. Our order, combined with the amuse-bouche courses and the extra gifts from the kitchen allowed us to try almost everything! The Hamache, scallops and duck were the best we'd ever had. Bar none. The vegetable dishes were magic, with flavors I cannot even describe. Our champagne recommendation was spot on and our server Lisa was incredibly nice, even inviting us into the kitchen to meet chef and co. and take photos. Best evening and meal Ever. For a special occasion, this is IT.
We had a very memorable experience. From the beginning to end, service was top notch, attentive, and not overdone. They educated us on their menu items, best wine pairings, and engaged in making sure we were having the best time possible. Chef Alain came out to say hello and topped off a great night. We can’t wait to be back.
One of the best meals in my life! My guest and I experienced the 8-course menu. In comparison with the 4-course menu and a la carte choices, it appeared to be their greatest hits. The flavor combinations were spot-on. No odd experiments or much that was too acidic. I have recently been disappointed with desserts at other restaurants offering tasting menus, but this one got it right: a chocolate dish pleasing to the palate and eye. The service was unobtrusive, and no one yanked our drinks or dishes prematurely. While seating was at the counter overlooking the kitchen, it felt removed; glass cases separated you from the server and another glass display set sat between the servers and the food prep. Lovely decor. Our evening was paced at 3:15 hours, which was a delightful amount of time to have with my guest. Others may have gone through in a shorter time frame. This is a must for foodies!!
Outstanding from beginning to end. Very pricey but no surprise there. Bellota, duck pate, amuse bouche, and bread were eye-rollingly good. Scallops, lobster were just ok. Service was exceptional.
Food is amazing as well as the service
Atmosphere is very modern
We had both the summer menu (4 courses) and we did not left hungry. Just happy.
No doubt tasty food, but boy oh boy, the portions are ridiculously small. Talk about a high margin business. Don't mind paying the price for good food and a nice dining experience, but the portion sizes/price was a bit hard to swallow.
PS: the bread was excellent and much needed!
Went to JR in Las Vegas. It was exceptional. Here very disappointed
great meal. I spent over $1,000 on tasting menu and wine pairing. when we sat down, the server offered us a glass of Champagne. Turns out that was $40 per glass. I was prepared to spend a lot, but felt taken advantage of when they sold me two glass of champagne for $80.
Everything was good except the lobster was over cooked.
Perfection from start to finish. Wonderful staff, service was flawless and atmosphere is lovely. Outstanding Somilier made us feel comfortable and was so knowledgeable. Front desk staff warm and welcoming and great servers. Food is sublime. Worth every penny and then some. Thanks for a wonderful meal.
Extraordinary!!! Never ate food in my life that was so fulfilling with taste and flavor!!
Tasting menu was very good. One of the best I have had. Very well prepared. My favorite had to be the steak followed by the Lobster. I mad a mistake booking for the following week and the restaurant was very accommodating and was able to sit us down. Thank you for not ruining my night out with my wife. I will surely be back for more.
Awesome food and service. Amazing
Amazing food, service, and environment. Went above and beyond our expectations. Will definitely dine again.
From start to finish, a memorable experience. This was my first time in this location, but I'd liked the London location near the theater district so much that I decided to try this one. The bar service was excellent. (I rate restaurants by how good their Kir Royales are and this one was one of the best.) Great staff who graciously moved our table when the first one wasn't quite right. Very helpful waitress who described food and wine selections. Although the place was almost full and wasn't what I would call quiet, we could still converse easily. I'll be sure to go there again the next time I'm in town.
Perfection personified. Doesnt get any better, anywhere.
i would change high bar tables for more comfortable evening tables
Est Nov 2017, this restaurant has become an icon in the vibrant Chelsea area. The trandition of Joel Robuchon can be tasted but the atmosphere is much modern. It must cater for wealthy young couples and groups. The vege pre fix is really creative. You can actually create your own tasting menu (instead of pre fix tasting manu) by ordering 3 or 4 half portion (appertizer) dishes. Relatively high prices are worth paying for considering quality of food, creative emulsion, presentation and atmosphere. Easing at the "counter" instead of table is a great experience facing into open kitchen and chatting with friendly staff. Highly recommended for those looking for new sophisticated French.
Great food and service. Highly recommended.
The only problem is they only provide bar seating for parties under 4ppl. I wanted a table instead of bar. But other things are great!
A friend and I had a reservation for 6:45 PM on a summer Thursday. I arrived early, checked in, and was seated at the bar. I ordered a wine spritzer as it was very hot outside. The bar and restaurant were pleasantly cool. When my friend arrived, we were taken to the restaurant, which we hadn't realized was essentially bar service around the open kitchen, unless you had 4 or more guests. My friend has some asthma, so we wondered if we could sit elsewhere. The host promptly took us back to the grill (on the bar side) and seated us without a quibble - same menu as the atelier as well! And then the bartender brought my spritzer back to my table!
I had the summer discovery tasting menu with the premium wine pairing, and my friend had a few small dishes, but he wasn't as hungry. The service and the food were excellent, which of course I'd expected. We were each offered a foie-gras "custard" amuse-bouche to begin. The kitchen timed our dishes perfectly, and were gracious enough to offer my friend a plate each time my dish came out, in case he wanted to try it. About half way through, with compliments of the kitchen, we were presented a plate of wagu-beef sliders with some lovely seasoned fries, simply because they wanted us to be able to share more together. It was a really wonderful surprise, and the slider was amazing. All the dishes were of course haute-cuisine and quite creative. (The menu is on their website.) I only wish I had gotten a list of the wines I tasted, which were amazing as well and in fact, the dessert wine was bottled the year I graduated from high school (and I'm middle aged!). Superb all around. The final chocolate ganache dish was perfect - not too rich, not too light, just amazing. And the final offering of madeleines from the kitchen was also a really nice touch.
I can't say enough about how well we were treated. I recommend L'atelier very very highly, even given it's quite high cost. If you can afford to go, do so!
Meh! We’ve dined in L’Atelier du JR in Paris and we should’ve been satisfied enough not to try the NYC location. If we never visited the NY location I would always have a great memory of our Paris visit however we wanted to have the Paris experience again and we should’ve flown back to France because the NYC LOCATION IS a WASTE of TIME and MONEY!!!
An eight course tasting menu should never refer to the first course as an Amuse Bouche, an AB should be an unmentioned extra.
Extremely small portions even for a degustaion menu. Service very rushed on a Saturday night, dining room nearly empty for a 8:30 reservation! I’ve been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years and had even told my waiter that I had worked with the chef before at Le Cirque. Chef never came by, whatever, he was too busy talking to one young lady only and then running back to kitchen.
As for the service, some of the staff had to struggle to place plates or wine glasses for guest. The counter seating in the original was charming here at this location is seemed a very “Vegas version” of a great restaurant elsewhere. None of the food really left an impression on us seemed to lack the greatness we had when we dine in the Paris location. Lobster was over cooked. No passion for the food just to get you out of the place fast!
Probably the worst part was the cutlery provided for the last two courses, a sorbet and self-proclaimed Chocolate Sensation, aweful overused plastic spoons! Why is there a plastic utensil with a $250 tasting menu? When I said something to my husband about the spoon the waiter snapped quickly back at me “I didn’t pick the spoon!”
That was enough for me!
I left the restaurant still hungry, how was that possible?
In short, No where near the level of greatness that we were thrilled to enjoy in Paris! I don’t expect this location will around long.
A wonderful dinner
One of the best in NYC.
I have been going to a L’ATELIER de Joël Robuchon for the past 23 years. Paris, London, Hong Kong Las Vegas and New York. I was sad when he closed up shop at the Four Seasons years ago, but was ecstatic with his NYC return with this location. It was a shock to read that he had passed away, but I can tell you that his spirit will continue to guide each and every one of his locations. The NYC restaurant is no exception. It is top notch five star. If it was his only restaurant, it would easily stand as a testament to his commitment to great and exciting food. The ingredients, preparation, presentation and flavors are a work of art. The decor, the staff, the service will not disappoint. Everyone should experience a meal at Joel Robuchon, and the NYC L'ATELIER location is the perfect place.
We learned today of Joel Robchon's untimely death. May he rest in peace. We are all better off for having had him in the culinary world.
Having said that, we dined Saturday night. We had to cancel Friday night as our flight from Florida was severely delayed. The got us in and seated the four of us at the corner of the counter!
We have not been to L'Atelier since it closed at the 4 Seasons. It is every bit as good as it was and then some.
We all had the seasonal tasting menu. Every course was outstanding in flavor and presentation. The staff could not have been better. They are definitely competing with the absolute best restaurants in New York.
The Sommelier was knowledgeable and our wine was perfect.
When we left, we took one look around and vowed to be back on our next trip to New York City.
If you can afford it, don't delay. L'Atelier is fantastic.
Great omotenashi !
Was sad to hear Joël Robuchon passed away.
RIP Joël R.
Outstanding, best service ever gad in NYC
Opportunity to attain knowledge and great experience on food, einse , ambience and how to serve professionally
Congrats to new nyc venture
Fabulous wine pairing with multiple small courses - excellent! You can basically put together your own unique tasting menu!!
Very close to the Paris experience - great to have it back better than ever in NY
