Food proportions need revamping
Beautiful restaurant with views. We sat outside on the balcony. Food was great and our server provided great recommendations. Unique drinks.
Between the heavy traffic getting there and then having to walk more than half a mile from the parking garage since all 3 of the closer parking garages in the wharf were full, we were flustered trying to make our reservation on time. However, once there, we were greeted by a lovely hostess who directed us upstairs via a crowded elevator and greeted by another hostess who immediately sat us at our table and told us that we had only 2 hours to dine starting the moment we sat down. So we felt rushed again but the beautiful water views, decor and ambiance lightened our moods. Unfortunately, that was interrupted yet again by having to correct our waiter a handful of times throughout the evening with mishaps and botched orders. However, he was very nice and apologetic so we remained light-hearted and never complained. The food and cocktails were good but not great considering their high prices. The four of us left feeling very underwhelmed. Our bill ended up being about $300/couple (including a set 20% service fee already included in the bill). At that kind of price, you should expect impeccable service, excellent food/drink, beautiful ambiance, easy parking/valet and NO rush. We won't go back but the views and decor were amazing.
The food was brought cold. It was definitely not worth the money spent!
Very bad service. They have gone down since the pandemic. Very slow. Not attentive. It’s disappointing. Went for my birthday and no acknowledgement nothing. Also extremely pricey. Mandatory 20% for tip. But the servers ignore you and disappear. Food is good. Yes. But if you need anything other than that or have questions forget it. I won’t be back until they get it together. Which is crazy cause it’s always packed so they definitely can hire people.
Beautiful view of the harbor. Very nice place to go for dinner.
Very nice views, ambiance and food. Perfect for dare night!!
Sunday brunch needs work. It is a price-fixed, all-you-can-eat menu @ $54. No ala carte ordering. The menu is written in courses. We were asked to put the entire order in at once, but promised that the delivery would be staged by course. It was not. The waiter brought all courses to the table within 3-4 minutes. So, what we ate first was good, but what necessarily waited until the end was cold and not-so-good. There were three of us. We had 3 Bellinis. The total bill for each of us was $94. We will go elsewhere in the future to places that understand those spending $94 per person for brunch expect better service and freshly prepared food.
Service and location was amazing! However for the price, the brunch was nothing spectacular, would try again for dinner as I suspect that might be there signature service
Le Vie is really great, and I do like this place. However, I am giving 4 stars for service pertaining to the check-in hostess process. When I arrived with my reservation, I checked-in at the front door before entering the elevator. I was the first person to check-in and after a few minutes, more reservations checked in. Then we were on the elevator. While I was the first on the elevator, I was the last to exist and this was a complete mess. All the other parties were given priority as they existed the elevator. Then, I had to wait especially longer while the table was not ready. I would hope management could address this issue and keep the order of those who check-in before the elevator will have the same spot when they exist the elevator. The food server was excellent…and the food and drinks were superb. I do recommend La Vie and hope you’ll have a perfect experience once management resolves this check-in issue.
Amazing atmosphere, beautiful views and the food is always amazing! It's sometimes a challenge to hear your date across the table, but, that won't stop me from coming back!
Amazing ! Best restaurant , the food is exceptional
The food, drinks and service was amazing. Will definitely go back!
Everything was great! Except the fact that i made my reservation a month a head to be seated outside its my parent’s anniversary and the girl who checked us in said that its first come first serve and that there is nothing available outside! Then another person helped us out and found a table for us in the terrace, there was also an empty table right next to us,that was empty the entire time we were there! So not sure why we were seated indoors first! Indoor is very loud and it doesn’t smell great, the waiter was great and made the whole experience a 10, food was good too. I would definitely go back .
The one star reviews are fairly accurate after the fact.
Planned a lovely birthday dinner for my husband a few close friends. I was really excited by all of the hype that everyone was telling me about this place.
I will say that the drinks were beyond incredible. From the drinks that we had ordered and seeing the other drinks around us, we really wanted to try everything. The appetizers were really good as well. We ordered the Mediterranean trio, the burrata and tuna tartare; all of them were really tasteful, just needed more bread.
The main courses left us all a little underwhelmed. My dish that potato gnocchi was too rich, definitely not Mediterranean. My husband ordered the chicken, he said that the chicken was dry and that the sauce saved the dish. Our friend ordered the lobster risotto, definitely not the best tasting risotto I’ve ever had; reminded me paella with a sauce.
The dessert was terrible. The baked Alaska was much to be desired, where is the meringue? The only thing good about that dessert was the the cotton candy. The birthday dessert was not terrible, there was one meringue that was slightly under cooked.
Oh did I forget how horrible our waiter was. Couldn’t recall his name if it was to save my life. When our meal came out, we had to ask for silverware from another waiter, who by the way said that was a problem when we asked. When the dessert came out, we asked him for silverware only to have him go to another table. I did not know that were expected to eat with our hands.
The price for the food is not worth the visit. You are paying for the ambiance and nothing else to be fully honest. If I wanted Mediterranean food, I would have gone to Fig & Olive and paid way less.
Word to wise, go for the drinks and appetizers. For dinner, you are better off going somewhere else.
Celebrated our one year anniversary at La Vie where we got married. Loved it, food was great, service was great and the lamb chops never miss🙌🏾🙌🏾
I went to La Vie as part of my birthday celebrations. The hostess greeted me with a card, candy and hand sanitizer upon
entering. Our view was amazing. We started off by
ordering cocktails, I had the All Smoke No Fire and it awesome, the presentation was a plus. For an appetizer we ordered the seafood misto and that was the best calamari I’ve ever tasted; crisps to perfection. For entree I had the lobster risotto and it was delicious, there was a generous portion of lobster and the flavors were spot on. The desserts were all tasty, but I think the lemon lush was my favorite; it had just the right amount of sweetness. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant. 10 out of 10 highly recommend and I will be back again!
Everything was amazing. I loved receiving the anniversary card. And the restaurant was beautiful and clean. I loved the ambiance. The service was amazing. I can’t wait to visit again.
Fantastic food, service, ambiance & people. Presentation 💯. Great location & the different dining areas were spectacular!
I lo-lo-love La Vie!!! My fav place for brunch. Every food item is amazinggg! My favs are the hummus, the lamb meat balls, steak and eggs, and the smoked salmon toast! The ambiance itself and the opportunity to get dressed up and go eat great food and have great drinks is enough to make me love it here. This place is at the wharf so there’s wharf garage parking. And every seat in the house is a great seat with great views!
Enjoyed it so much will be returning with a whole group soon!!
Birthday celebration for a dear friend. The ambience was perfect and made her feel very special. We had a table overlooking the wharf by the window. Very elegant and the server was very attentive.
My experience at La Vie was amazing!!!! When I back in town I’ll definitely be back!
Exceptional service, ambiance and quality of food!
A bit noisy for a quiet anniversary or romantic dinner. Lively if with a group or looking for such ambiance.
Tables are tiny, makes it awkward to place and eat multiple items
The food itself is stellar.
We had a great time at La Vie. The food, ambiance, service, drinks everything was amazing! you should definitely try the Lamb Chops.. They were mind-blowing...!!
I used to brunch at la vie before COVID and I can tell the quality of the service is definitely down as well as the way the food tastes now. I went for brunch last Sunday and was disappointed overall looks like they have new severs and probably a new chef too.
It was everything, for any occasion for any event. This is the place
This view is beautiful the food isn’t that great especially got the price the food is like buffet food in my opinion. Everything was warm not hot even m my fruit seemed a little old. I ended up paying 200 for two ppl and we had o e drink. It’s nice for a photo off but the food isnt worth the price.
Food and service was great. The brunch and drink prices a bit expensive. Overall great time tho!!
The food, service and let's not forget the view was exceptional. It's top of my list of DC favorites.
La Vie, treated me so special for my birthday—card, chocolate, and my own personal sanitizer—to my surprise I also received cake with a sparkler on top and a glass of champagne—the view was so nice—the staff was very friendly—-Jose was such a great waiter!!! The food was outstanding and I’m a very picky eater—If you want to feel special on your birthday this is the place😊
It was great. A little too noisy but the service was great & also the food.
The service was not good. I’ve gone 4 times and this time made me never want to go back. The food was Luke warm and not personalized when we asked for substitutions. It was a horrible experience, do not go on the last couple of hours of brunch.
Beautiful decor but awful food. Not worthy at all. We don’t think will ever comeback
I booked this for my boyfriends birthday and i was more than blown away. The food and the ambiance was incredible i will definitely be back to celebrate something else soon!
The place is spectacular. The service good. The food was ok. Certainly not worth the huge check. We had a good time.
Pasta dishes as I've never had before. Outstanding. My cocktail was not very good, however.
