Food and service were amazing!
I redemmed open table points, but the restaurant was unaware of this when I reserved the table. Open table never sent me a voucher which the restaurant required. Please send me this voucher...I do not want to lose these points
One of the most charming restaurants in town - big windows great for people watching and the brunch is a delicious delightful assortment of tasty dishes.
Fabulous brunch serving many different courses brought to my table. Superb service and excellent food. Great value. I have loved this place for years.
Took friends on first trip. Eggplant spread and rice balls were great way to start. Cocktails and wine were excellent. Pasta dishes are excellent and cooked perfectly. Real excellent Italian food. Service is always spot on and staff always ready to help!
Long story short, I got sick off the beef crudo on Valentine’s Day so that was less than ideal. It literally tasted like what I imagine raw chuck steak from Giant tastes like. I LOVE tartare and carpaccio, so it def wasn’t a fear of raw beef or anything. I got through 2 Trader Joe’s-quality raviolis before I realized I wasn’t feeling too hot, and the rest of the evening was a bust! Still not feeling good 2 days later. Disappointed cuz my boyfriend and his mom have been raving about this place forever. Just not good food.
We did the Valentines Day dinner. The light above our table was full of dead bugs and the portions of the food were extremely small and we're not anything worth exclaiming over. We both have had stomach issues since. Our waiter was very nice, however.
Visited on Valentine’s Day eve - a lovely experience. Great food, great service, relatively quiet, and covid friendly. It’s also super cute!
Beat Italian in Dupont Cr & in DMV. Great service, great ambiance inside & outside especially if you are looking for nice antiques in their 2nd floor. The food came on time from starter to main course. Very delicious & beautiful for Instagram picture. Must visit & enjoy.
Took a friend there for their first visit and they said, they are coming back! Arrincini were the starters. Excellent drinks to start with also. Pasta bolognese was perfert! Staff and service are always attentive and helpful.
Delightful! Always a wonderful experience. A special neighborhood place.
One of DC's BEST italian food places. Great cocktails to start with my guest. Eggplant spread is very ghood filled with great different flavors. Pasta Nero and Scallopppine dishes were outstanding!!!!
It was our 15 wedding anniversary. I was looking for a really good experience with my husband, and we got it. The service by Marcos was the best. My husband always complain about his drink (long Island) but this time he loves it. Delicious food, we order the crudo carne and the Branzino fish 🐠. No complaint about the price because I knew about it, so no sorpresa. Overall I think it was worthy.
Will definitely return.
What a nice way to celebrate my birthday. And the complimentary Prosecco was a unexpected bonus!
Excellent food and excellent service! I ordered the squid ink pasta and it was fantastic. I will definitely be back soon.
Had a lovely dinner outdoors on the patio. They have a nice Covid setup with lots of heaters. The food was all delicious, honestly would recommend pretty much everything. Will definitely be back soon.
We had a safe and lovely New Years Eve dinner for 2021. The service was perfect and the food was authentic and delicious.
I’m really sorry I got too stoned and almost knocked over the family statue. I must add, the general manager looked highly familiar to one of our elder family members, Lucca Changretta.
Anyways, great food great service
Met some friends and we had to sit in tent area. La Tomate did great job in keeping us warm. Cocktails may have helped. Great starters and some salads. Whole Fish was cooked perfectly. Seafood pasta and Rigatoni dishes were excellent. Very good COVID set up. Great staff.
Perhaps not elegant decor, but the food was very good, authentically Italian, as was the professionalism of the service. And they were good enough to call beforehand to check we would be happy having to sit outside despite the chilly temperatures expected. We ate here 3 times in total and consider ourselves lucky given we found it by accident.
Atmosphere was good and prices reasonable. Good location and very exceptional service 👏
Maybe everyone is looking for warm outdoor dining like I am so thought I should review la Tomate. Firstly, the food is really amazing and we had a great time. But about the outside... I was all excited about a tented outside when I drove past the restaurant as I love la Tomate so made my reservation right away. When we got there the tented area was freezing. I think it’s important to have a little draft in the tenting so there is fresh air circulating for covid safety. But this tent only had the heaters above the two tables being used (two of four heaters), and the sides were not closed at all. My friend asked the server to close one of the sides and they made it slightly better, but without all the heaters going I just don’t see how it could ever get warm in there. I was dressed very warmly and left everything on while eating, but my friend wasn’t really prepared for eating in 35 degrees (maybe 45 under the heater) and I felt bad. So the crux of it is yes, it’s a tent. But you do need a big coat and gloves and very warm shoes in order to be able to not freeze. If the restaurant could turn on all the heaters and close a little more of the tent, I think it would be a much better experience. They have decorated in there and put lights in the ceiling, etc, their effort really does show. Only the cold factor detracted from an otherwise slam dunk of a winter covid dining choice. I think with a few minor changes, maybe it could be enhanced a little. :)
Always be ready to relax , sit back and enjoy real Italian food made to order. Eggplant spread starter was outstanding. Had not had something like this at other places. Seafood pasta was perfect with a touch of red sauce and lots of fish. Great service always watching out for you!!
Date with my wife. The restaurant has done a great job with social distancing. The food is always great.
Great service and ambience! Perfect for a date night
Calamari very chewy
Excellent buratta to start. Great paired wine. Pasta dishes were outstanding. Pasta Nera was perfect! Spaghetti made of corn was outstanding! Excellent staff and service
If I lived in DC, I would be a regular at this restaurant. We were greeted with a "Buona sera!" as we walked in and the whole experience—from the food to the incredible service—was quite reminiscent of dining in Italy.
The restaurant is overall very delightful. The staff is friendly and fun...and Nando was very patient as I practiced speaking Italian!
We started with some cheeses and meats, allowing our server to choose some of his favorites for us. Dinner was the cacio e pepe and scaloppine limone. Both were delicious! Dessert was a semifreddo-style treat with apples. We had plenty of time to enjoy our date night, filled with great conversation, food, and after-dinner drinks.
The interior is quite charming and well-decorated for Christmas. They also have many items (food, drink, retail) for sale. Take home a panettone for the holidays!
Take your time—don't rush through the menu...enjoy the experience at La Tomate!
This is an unfound gem that should be ranked as one of the best restaurants in Washington DC, or anywhere. Not only will you find amazing, authentic, gourmet Italian food by a real European owner, chef and servers, but the restaurant has beautifully decorated, socially distanced tables both out-door and indoor. The inside has a cozy fun feeling with the tables interlaced with antique decorations many of which are for sale. The outside dining is in lovely setting, heated, seasonally decorated, sunny and mainly sheltered on a fun, colorful corner in the picturesque and historic downtown Dupont Circle
Marcus was awesome. Very attentive! Thx
As always, La Tomate provides the best, from food and service to outdoor, safe seating during COVID! Thank you.
A perfect way to start a relaxing eveing here is with coctails and starters. Burrata is perfectly served. Dinner of course is pasta. Pasta dishes are best in DC!
The brunch just can’t be beat! The menu is superb - the service and setting is just amazing 😍
As usual, and despite the pandemic, the experience of dining at La Tomate is always very good. Owner and staff are friendly and welcoming, restaurant is spacious and tables are far apart, particularly these days, the nose level is very low if any and the day was warm enough that we could sit in the patio. To top it all, the food is always evenly very good.
La Tomate has well-spaced indoor seating and lovely patio dining with heaters to keep you warm. A lovely in-town place to dine.
Excellent coctails to start the evening. Buratta and the Octupus starters were Perfect!!
Dinner was lamb which was excellently prepared and pasta Nero!! Great dinner and Staff is always helpful and always on their game.
Excellent! We had an outside table for lunch. Wonderful food. Some of ordered off the lunch menu while others chose the dinner menu.
The most amazing home made pasta on a lovely outdoor patio with heat lamps and lovely lighting.
Outstanding dinner once again. La Tomate has continued to provide safe indoor dining with spaced off areas. Great cocktails and their veal starter was perfect along with the burrata special. Great way to relax before Cacio e Pepe and their risotto special calms and Snapper! Wow!!
Excellent staff and always great service!!
