First time visiting DC which we came to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary so we wanted something different.
As soon as we arrived we were greeted and accommodated us.
Our server came welcoming us and asking it was our first time, we said yes. A few minutes afterwards she arrived with two glasses of wine and said happy anniversary. We respectfully expressed that we don’t drink and she right away frowned and said you don’t, we said no. So she took the drinks and went to the side table which had two traveling nurses and said here are two free drinks because these people don’t drink. First time I ever felt disrespected because I don’t drink. So, we just ordered two soft drinks.
Well, I ignored it and gave our order, which my wife and I ordered the same thing, a Caesar Salad, Filet Mignon, Mash Potatoes and a Macaroni and cheese dish. Our salads came out with some delicious bread and then only one dinner plate came out.
We sat right by the register, so I knew right away she made a mistake. She came back said she order my plate but the system didn’t register it and she put a rush order. I said fine.
Mindful, this is our anniversary dinner and my wife is eating by herself. I finally told her to cancel my order. She was upset, said she will give us free ice cream, I said no thanks my wife wanted something else. She apologized in an unapologetic way and the proceeded to offer me an onion soup, I again stated no thanks I don’t eat that either. I wanted the check. I wanted to leave. I felt very disrespected and uncomfortable. So she brings the bill and charged us full service for the food with no discount just an apology. I asked her she got upset went to the register and took off the sodas and the salads.
I said fine, so I paid it just so I didn’t have to deal with her attitude. We left and at the entrance I asked for the manager. Explained the situation, she apologized and stated that waitress never told her about it but she will take care of it.
