Everything was excellent as usual. The ambience is spectacular and the food delicious. All precautions were taken as well regarding distancing and sanitation. Can’t wait to go back!!

Beautiful setting but food needs work. For high end Italian, fresh Parmesan cheese and cracked pepper should be offered with food. The olive oil was low end. The “grilled” vegetables were not grilled.
This is third year we have visited. Staying at Solaz this year. I think is top restaurant at Resort! Food and service very good. Pay no attention to some earlier reviews?!
Ambience the ultimate in romance. Manager Jose took great care of us, even moving our outside table to near a fire pit as evening g cooled. Not to be missed!!!!

The service was very slow and the presentation of the main course was abysmal. Cost was very high until we received a 20% "local" discount. Wine corkage was twice what we were told it would be.

Dinner for 6 of us and all of our food was way too salty. My wife's sea bass was very fishy tasting ... and she didn't feel very good after eating it. Nice wine list ... except they didn't have a couple of the wines that we were interested in from the list. They put the bottle of wine we ordered out of reach and didn't pay attention to filling wine glasses, which is annoying. Please put the wine on, or near, the table so we can pour it ourselves. Beautiful setting but would not go back.

The service was not attentive and we had to ask for everything, wine, water....all of it. There was also a very drunk man that was allowed to disrupt those dining in the restaurant for 1 hour before being asked to leave. Good food and flavors, but service was not matched to decor and expectation.
Beautiful location and ambience at this beachside, luxe-casual spot with great attention to detail on the fit out. Saw some reviews carping about prices and service - our experience was flawless and charming service and pricing not out of line with anywhere else at this standard and in such a privileged location. Some dishes were a bit salty for our palates, but having said that others were amongst the best we’ve experienced. We also tried Mako in the same resort and this place beat it hands down.
I’ve eaten at La Deriva two other times with excellent experiences unfortunately my most recent experience was not the same. The service was horrible... the wait staff (other than the sommelier) were non-attentive. They offer a pasta carbonara which is always fantastic. The waiter stated it was available but then came back later to tell us they didn’t have the pork to put in it. Offered to make it into cacio di pepe... which was fine... but it came out very dry. To make matters worse, there was a table with an obnoxious woman (obviously not the restaurant’s doing) with a screeching voice that was like fingernails on a chalkboard.
We had brought friends and totally boasted about La Deriva... but this time they missed the mark. Will give the restaurant a “do over” some other time... but probably not this trip.

Every item we ordered was divine. Kampachi crudo starter and watermelon salad, hubby had prawns and I had smoked rib tacos—yum! Kids loved their burgers. Oh and churros y chocolate was delish!!! We sat outside by the fountain and enjoyed every minute of it!
Been to la deriva many times. Things have changed. Many items on menu unavailable and quality was poor. My wife ordered the octopus appetizer that was so overcooked you couldn’t eat. My pasta was no better than out if a box at home. Service was just ok.
Our waiter was horrible. We had to ask three times for water, blankets and a menu. He literally disappeared for ten minutes while our glasses sat empty, he was busy chatting up another table. We complained to the manager and got the standard apologies but nothing improved though the balance of our visit. We will not go back.
Table lighting is unacceptable. Couldn’t even see to read the menu. When we asked for a flashlight we were given one with low battery and that was only marginally better than nothing. Wound up using the phone flashlight to see the meal. When the bill was presented it included an extra entree. Cross this place off our list.
The restaurant is absolutely stunning and the bartender was great. The service at the table was not great. We had to ask for menus, water, and waited 30 minutes before getting our wine (and that was after getting the manager). The service got better after we shared our experience with the manger.
Came here on Thanksgiving 2019. Everything was great including the specials for the holiday. I would recommend this place if you’re staying at the resort for Thanksgiving.
Food was underwhelming. Everything over seasoned (especially the steaks) and it took a crazy amount of time to come out, despite the restaurant being fairly empty.
We had a below average experience at la deriva. We were with our two children and the dinner took forever. We had to ask for menus, ask for bread, and ask for
Wild boar equal to what I ate in Tuscany. Excellent gnocchi.
Food and service were excellent.
The food and general dining experience was fantastic. May be the best meal and wine pairing we had during the week we were there. Our waiter was great once we were seated. However, though the bar was almost empty, the service was slow before we were seated. The resort is pretty but not really our first choice design wise. It was very quiet and for that reason, lacked some of the authenticity and energetic ambience that our long-time destination, Hacienda Del Mar and the restaurants there and downtown have. We had three young children between 2 and 5 with us and they were treated well. They loved the beach and mini-golf course and we loved that they were able to play without us worrying about being a disturbance. Overall, I think we'll certainly come back to La Deriva and will probably also explore Solaz and other restaurants on the property in the future.
One of the very best dining experiences in Los Cabos.

Ate outdoors 2nd week of September, there has been no rains for awhile and was not humid. There was 4 flies buzzing relentlessly around my chicken when my wife said "they should have ceiling fans". Flies ruined the meal but not the occasion.
