Table lighting is unacceptable. Couldn’t even see to read the menu. When we asked for a flashlight we were given one with low battery and that was only marginally better than nothing. Wound up using the phone flashlight to see the meal. When the bill was presented it included an extra entree. Cross this place off our list.
The restaurant is absolutely stunning and the bartender was great. The service at the table was not great. We had to ask for menus, water, and waited 30 minutes before getting our wine (and that was after getting the manager). The service got better after we shared our experience with the manger.
Came here on Thanksgiving 2019. Everything was great including the specials for the holiday. I would recommend this place if you’re staying at the resort for Thanksgiving.
Food was underwhelming. Everything over seasoned (especially the steaks) and it took a crazy amount of time to come out, despite the restaurant being fairly empty.
We had a below average experience at la deriva. We were with our two children and the dinner took forever. We had to ask for menus, ask for bread, and ask for
Wild boar equal to what I ate in Tuscany. Excellent gnocchi.
Food and service were excellent.
The food and general dining experience was fantastic. May be the best meal and wine pairing we had during the week we were there. Our waiter was great once we were seated. However, though the bar was almost empty, the service was slow before we were seated. The resort is pretty but not really our first choice design wise. It was very quiet and for that reason, lacked some of the authenticity and energetic ambience that our long-time destination, Hacienda Del Mar and the restaurants there and downtown have. We had three young children between 2 and 5 with us and they were treated well. They loved the beach and mini-golf course and we loved that they were able to play without us worrying about being a disturbance. Overall, I think we'll certainly come back to La Deriva and will probably also explore Solaz and other restaurants on the property in the future.
One of the very best dining experiences in Los Cabos.
Excellent as always.
We’ll be back again soon.
Ate outdoors 2nd week of September, there has been no rains for awhile and was not humid. There was 4 flies buzzing relentlessly around my chicken when my wife said "they should have ceiling fans". Flies ruined the meal but not the occasion.
We started with the mussels. Really delicious. We’re big fans of mussels. We try them every where we go. This is on the top 5, even better than some we’ve had in France... Then we ordered the gnocchi and the sea bass special.
Both outstanding. Personally I’m not a big fan of gnocchi but at La Deriva I was truly impressed.
The service was great. But we’re staying at Solaz. And the service has been really incredible all around.
Although it wasn’t the worst, it definitely wasn’t the best. We expected more from the fine dining restaurant at the Solaz resort. The servers were polite but the service was not what you expect from a higher end restaurant. The food was just ok. Considering the price point, this restaurant was disappointing.
Miguel was awesome. Knowledgeable and professional
Given the location along a remote part of the Cabo coast, part of the Solaz property, I was pretty impressed that they pulled off this excellent Italian restaurant. The menu was very well selected, the food was well-prepared and flavorful, cooked properly, and the service was the best I had in Cabo. The Location was really breath-taking though. I sat right on the edge of the restaurant with a front-row view of the water and fireworks just off the water - really, really, quite beautiful. A few minor fixes related to the quality of ingredients - the burrata was technically burrata and I'm not sure where it was from, but I'm used to the Italian-sourced burrata with a creamy interior and light, fleshy case - this burrata was almost a curd-type interior with a thicker case, which I've had before but would not be my first choice. The beef tagliata was delicious and cooked perfectly, though the beef itself was a bit tough and again, I'm not sure where it came from and I didn't ask the origin. I would definitely go back and I do recommend this restaurant, it was a very, very nice evening.
Comida, lugar y servicio excelentes.
Definitivamente volvería de estar de regreso a Los Cabos.
Best pasta carbonara in town!! Great wine; warm an careful service.
Es una excelente opción para comer en pareja o para cena de negocios
DELICIOSA COMIDA Y UN SERVICIO EXCELENTE! BONITA EXPERIENCIA
Very beautiful dining experience. Jose and Daniel were our tag team servers who both did an excellent job
Gorgeous views, service was spotty. A lot of people but most weren't sure what to do. Food was pretty mediocre for the price but very nice area.
Food was the worst we had all week. Los Cabo’s has so many good restaurants, this isn’t one of them. Service mediocre. Why they serve toasted bread when their seafood restaurant serves amazing bread and butter is beyond me. Chicken was dry. My husbands clam pasta was ok. Salad was just a bunch of rabbit lettuce drained in dressing. Too much money. Beautiful view and setting.
The lobster Mac and cheese is to die for. Maybe it’s the richness of the dish. The presentation was great!
Food was outstanding. Service was wonderful and the ambience was amazing. Highly recommended.
We loved this place! The atmosphere was great, the views were amazing, the food was incredible and our waiter Edmund tied it all together with world class service.
The service was unacceptable. Very disappointed.
We had a table on the deck overlooking the water. The location is stunning and the food is to match. We had the Burrata and Tagliere starters. They were fresh and full of flavor. Our mains were lobster ravioli and fire roasted chicken with lemons. I recommend La Deriva to anyone looking for fresh and flavorful Italian cusine. We loved it and we will be going back!
For a restaurant that holds itself out as "upscale dining" the service and professionalism seemed to lacking.
Our waiter was non-existent after the food was delivered. For the price the food was nothing special.
We come to Cabo multiple times a year and are always trying new restaurants to add to our list. La Deriva will not make the cut.
The food was amazing and at a very reasonable cost for the view and ambiance!! Amazing property and landscape i would rate it a 10!!!!
It was a perfect evening. Thank you for such an amazing and peaceful night.
The food was good, but the service was very slow, in spite of many waiters there was not coordination or organization among them, no one seem responsible for anything, they seem uninterested in their job. Poorly trained, morale low, I do not know but
In spite of the food being good , it made for a poor evening out.
The food here is delicious! We ate here twice during our honeymoon. I will say that I was disappointed that our special occasion wasn’t acknowledged despite noting it in both reservations. Our service was great the first time (March 5) but the second time we came was disappointing. We were seated in the back corner near the bar (after waiting 15-20 minutes from our reservation time) and felt we were forgotten about. We received appetizers without sharing plates and asked the food runner for them, but he never brought them so we had to ask our server several minutes later, after we had already finished one of the dishes. We also had to wait an extensive period of time to ask for our check. Overall great meal but not great to feel forgotten about on the last night of our honeymoon.
Service and food were terrific. Great place to eat while in the Cabo/San Jose area
Ambiance and service was incredible. Unfortunately my linguine with clams had sand from the clams in it. I couldn't eat it. In saying this, staff were extremely professional and quick to respond to this. They replaced my meal with an " off menu" grilled fish which was quite good. Unfortunately being this was a special occasion it put our dining experience a little off as I had to wait for my replacement meal and others were finished in advance of me getting mine. When I got my meal, others then had to wait for me to finish. This being said.....we will try La Deriva again as the service and ambiance is second to none, and I am trusting this was just an unfortunate incident.
