Very nice and friendly servers and employees in the restaurant. They were working (construction) on outside dining, so we had to eat inside. Food was ok, nothing special.
Took a party of 8, 5 adults, 3 kids. Restaurant was empty and it still took 1.5 hours before kids food arrived. Also Manager thought it was not our of line. Unbelievable disaster from Hyatt and manager made little or. I effort to deal with situation. Also lots of staff on hand really don’t know what happened
Location and ambience: The view from the patio is wonderful and the resort has done a lot to deal Playa's current seaweed problem so there is no weird smell emanating from the shore. The restaurant itself is clean and the music is fun and vibey and is just soft enough that you can enjoy it while still having a conversation.
Food and drinks: The food was simple, tasty and every dish was a decent portion - we also got a large bowl of free guacamole and chips which was lovely and unexpected. The cocktails, however, weren't great. We were told they had recently rolled out a new cocktail menu... it was very limited and didn't have many we wanted to try.
Service: The service was great: the hostess was friendly and the waitron was very attentive. They kept referring to us by name (which they got from our reservation) which was a nice touch. The resort also offers valet parking which was also helpful as finding parking so close to 5th and the beach isn't easy.
The breakfast buffet is great and there are some truly unique and tasty options. The juice bar had an awesome green juice and the Chia seed pudding cups were amazing. Chilaquiles “build your own “ bar with homemade tamales hit the spot after a night of tequila!
La Cocina was having a special event the day we went. There was no menu, but a fabulous buffet instead. I am usually not a lover of buffets, but this one had everything from soup to nuts. Fabulous salad’s, homemade whole grain breads, lots of main courses including chicken, beef and seafood as well as beautiful desserts. We live the ambiance and food here!
La Cocina was a great find! It is in the Hyatt Hotel and is a Mexican/American restaurant. The blackened salmon tacos were great! It overlooks the Caribbean; beautiful!
La Cocina was the perfect place to have a final breakfast/brunch for our family. Although we did not stay at the Grand Hyatt, we were treated wonderfully as diners at the restaurant. The service was highly attentive without being overbearing. The dining area itself is bright and comfortable with options of indoor and outdoor seating. The spread of food and beverage was outstanding in terms of choice, freshness and a mix of local and international fare. The buffet is not as affordable compared to most breakfast options in the area but it was certainly worth it to cap off a family great vacation.
It was a very nice place, with a sea / beach view and outstanding attention, even we had breakfast buffet (which by the way, is expensive)
Fantastic and extensive Breakfast Buffet as well as an A la carte option. My girlfriend and I did the breakfast buffet and were surprised by how many options they had. A salad bar, A fresh fruit bar, omelette station, quesadilla station, fresh juices, fresh bread. Amazing Brunch drinks as well! Not cheap but definitely not very expensive for the selection. Overall I thought it was a good value for the amount of options. The service was great as well. Overall we truly enjoyed the restaurant and the Grand Hyatt Resort as a whole. I will definitely be back sooner than later! Give it a try! You have the option to order off the menu or do the buffet and all the food we had was fantastic. Thank you!
Although the ambiance and the service were outstanding the main course was just average and way overpriced!
Excellent steak dish. Nice ocean view. Bread was amazing deserts very good as well. Whole family enjoyed dinner
Mexican buffet was great! The views were amazing! The exceptional service was a plus!
La Cocina is the more casual restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen. The dinner was ok but not exceptional. Breakfast and lunch were much better. Drinks are good, service excellent and the scene beautiful. We were at the hotel for a conference so we were limited on leaving the grounds to seek other food. I wish they would have had more variety for dinner. After 4 days were a little tired of Caribbean/Mexican food. the t
We were guests at the hotel and ate there twice - once at taco night and the other because it was raining and we didn't want to go to town. Food is simple and fresh. Not sure I'd come to the restaurant if I were not staying at the Hyatt but if you are staying there, worth going for sure!
