Don’t go on March 12th. It’s a Cathedral saints day apparently. The cathedral bells don’t stop ringing, there are firecrackers, and the violins. All at the same time. It’s a cacophony of deafening sound. Right at sunset.
Spoiled the ambience completely.
Absolutely stunning location above Puerto Vallarta's famous church. Incredible ambiance in this former Nun's chapel looking out over The church tower, Baptistry and Banderas bay. The food was excellent and while a little pricey the uniqueness of the place is worth the extra. A trio of violinists entertained the diners during the evening. Had been once before for Sunday brunch. Fabulous food but you need to book about 6 months in advance to get in! Enjoy. Well worth the wait.
The newest restaurant from the owner of Hacienda San Angel and Iguana. A mostly Italian menu with a fabulous view and atmosphere. This is the perfect place for a very romantic dinner....or to impress friends. Food is well prepared and presented. Wine list has some reasonably priced selections. Dinner music is provided by 2 or 3 violinists.
We were late in arriving but the service was spotty Hard to get the waiters attention and had to ask for things numerous times. We were there 9 days ago and had much better service The experience is still amazing!
Fantastic view!!! I ordered a wonderful fish dish and it was better than you could imagine! This restaurant has probably one of the best views in Vallarta.
Could not get waiters attention. Fish was dry and the pasta did not have any taste. Finished my meal and waiters finally asked if I wanted another drink. Ill give them a pass since they only opened in October. Beautiful views but overpriced.
Amazing ambience. Violin music was beautiful. A wonderful evening!
We found the portions very small, especially for pasta when fresh pasta is so very cheap to make
That being said we had ordered soup and salad so our guys were ok
We would highly recommend for a special occasion
Waiters were very good and very unobtrusive
Beautiful dining experience. The quality, presentation and taste of the food was exquisite.
Our server Luis was wonderful with recommendations and enthusiasm.
Will recommend La Capella to all who visit PV
Wrong salad brought to the table. I requested no salt and it was salty.
A WORLD CLASS VIEW COMBINED WITH EXCELLENT CUISINE AND ASTOUNDING MUSIC
A wonderful elegant evening with delicious food and lovely violin music. The views are spectacular and the restaurant itself is beautiful Dining there will not disappoint you.
This restaurant was fabulous. Our server did take a 1/2 hour before we got our drinks. We noticed that other servers were more attentive. We will return again as our meal was delicious.
Great location. Open dining room overlooking the church. Very good service. Good was certainly very good.
PERFECT all the way around! From the moment you walk in and are enveloped in this beautiful setting overlooking the church you know that you are in for a wonderful experience. The food, service, atmosphere and live violin music all deliver a beautiful experience. Our waiter, Raul, was very attentive without being in the way, he was patient while we took photos and even obliged me in moving to a railing table overlooking the church for our dessert. Can't recommend highly enough for a special dinner out in PV!
Luis was our waiter. Outstanding service and food. His recommendations were correct.
An absolutely fabulous find in PV. The view is spectacular, the cuisine is creatively and deliciously Italian, music to enhance the dining experience, and delightfully engaging staff. Has the sense of an old world European restaurant.
Fantastic location, great view and excellent ambience. Food was pretty good also. My wife’s shrimp were huge and delicious. The quality of the wines did not justify the prices. $49.00 dollars for a mediocre Valpolicella is more than U.S. prices. The three violinists capped of an ejoyable evening.
Es un lugar maravilloso, servicio y comida excelente, la vista es única y el ambiente favorable para que sea inolvidable. Altamente recomendable
Great views, food and service!
From beginning to end everything was perfect. The views of the skyline and cathedral were breathtaking. The strolling violinists created an incredible atmosphere and never intrusive.
Our waiter , Luis , was professional yet warm and charming. Made for a very enjoyable evening. We will definitely be back.
Amazing views, gorgeous space and incredible food and service
We had a wonderful experience at La Cappella. The ambiance and view are amazing and we loved the violins playing that evening. The food was amazing as well. We will for sure be back!
The view was amazing! Food and Martinis were delicious! Luis our waiter was the best!!!
Violins were very nice got a little loud.
Would recommend 😘
We love La Capella. It’s a great new restaurant owned and run by the same people as Iguana and Hacienda San Angel. It is beautiful and has a most splendid view. I’d say it’s a must go on your visit to PV. The violin music is magical and perfection. Only downside of our experience was that on our second visit (a Saturday night) the violinists were not playing. We should have checked. It was a disappointment as they are truly magnificent. Everything else was superb, however.
Was a wonderful experience ...view breathtaking...would definately come back
I was excited to try out La Capella after checking it out when I dined at the Hacienda San Angel Gourmet. I wasn’t too thrilled with the overall meal but this place ... they got it right! The views, ambiance, menu everything is just fantastic. Time your reservation to start about 30 minutes before sunset and watch the sky paint a beautiful picture. I read several reviews about the service being very slow and the waiter not being attentive. I have to say that there were moments when the service felt a bit slow but it wasn’t exactly a bad thing. It is more on the upscale side price wise but if you are coming from the US it’s still cheaper than the steak houses and “fine dining” places we are used to. Go and enjoy ... also you are in Mexico support local and get a Mexican wine to go with your meal!
La Capella is pricey by Puerto Vallarta standards but the setting overlooking the cathedral is breathtaking. We were there for sunset on a clear evening and the view was fabulous. Food and beverages were tasty, portions were small to moderately sized... we had enough to eat but those with big appetites might need additional courses. A trio of violinists played beginning at 7 p.m. Music was relaxing and added ambiance to the evening meal. Save your pesos for a visit for a special evening.
Beautiful setting , excellent service , appetizers excellent , pizza and pasta main dishes average ..
Three violinists outstanding !!
Will definitely be a repeater !
Our first experience at La Capella and we were looking forward to the new Hacienda San Angel creation with high expectations. The food was outstanding, delicious and creatively presented. The caprese salad was a tower of mozzarella and tomatoes and yummy. An Italian restaurant out of lasagna was a major disappointment. I recovered with a filet of beef and it was quite good but not what I was looking for at an Italian place. The salmon dish was very tender and tasty. We won't be returning, though, because the service was outrageously slow, uninspiring and indifferent. Waited a half hour for our table even though we had a reservation. Two wonderful tables were open but reserved for hotel guests. That must be the key because those tables commanded the attention of our server. Glad we tried La Capella but take your chance to a mediocre experience at high prices for Puerto Vallarta standards.
Spectacular location behind the cathedral in downtown Puerto Vallarta with a view of the city and Banderas Bay Beyond. The restaurant itself was a chapel in the church at one time and frescoes, statues, etc make for an inspiring setting for a dinner. The service was great with the waiters in formal attire. Three violinists played after 7pm lending even more atmosphere. The food was very good with the selections covering a wide range but is Italian based. I had a lobster/asparagus lasagna which was excellent. My wife and her cousin shared a pizza which they said was very good. The restaurant is not cheap but not super expensive especially for the blend of view, serve, and food quality. Will plan to go again next year
Everything was wonderful. Setting was unsurpassed. We missed dessert - kitchen closed early and they forgot to tell us. Oops. But otherwise, amazing.
Had an amazing time. The staff were friendly and service was prompt. The hostess is extremely friendly, even offering to take our group picture before she sat us. Food is awesome and the views and ambience are to die for. Love the violins, that is such a romantic touch! Ive been back 5 times this trip and will go again before I leave!
We discovered this restaurant this year as it is new right across the street from Hacienda. It is one of our favorites due to the stunning view, food, service and entertainment. Very special!
Unparallel views and an ambiance of sophistication and complete indulgence. The food was incredible and the service was the us most friendly. We will definitely be back the next time we are in PV.
What a beautiful setting overlooking the coast. The food was magical and the service superb. It was topped off with the beautiful music from the violin trio . We’ll be back next trip
La Capella is a beautifully restored chapel/hacienda . It is situated on the side of a hill overlooking the city and bay with spectacular views. The service was superb and the restaurant was filled with live music by three professional violinists. The menu is upscale Italian. A nice variety for every taste. For a perfect romantic evening in Puerto Vallarta, this is a winner !!
The overall experience did not meet our expectations and was very disappointing. The restaurant is beautiful and the views incomparable anywhere in PV. We arrive 45 minutes early to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail which was not an option. They were however able to accommodate an early seating as the restaurant had already assigned tables (perhaps only two seating's that evening). The server's immediate interaction was great but went downhill from there. It took 30 minutes to order, our second cocktail which was to be served before dinner, arrived with dinner so wine for 1/2 of the table was not an option with dinner. A Martini with an Italian meal (fish and pasta) was not enjoyable. The server never apologized for how late everything was, never ascertained satisfaction and we basically felt like he just wanted us gone and for the evening to end. It was apparent that this was happening throughout the restaurant. The violinist's however were exceptional!
The view of the cathedral was spectacular. The food was delicious, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a special dining experience in PV!
Service leaves a lot left to be desired. The worse service I have ever had in Mexico. The pizza was great. The other food was mediocre at best. We waited over thirty minutes for our check. I pointed out to the waiter the time it took us to even be asked if we wanted dessert and then he asked. I told him we were done. He did not apologize. He was the rudest server I have ever experienced and I am a very frequent diner of Open Table restaurants.
