La Cantina at Vidanta Riviera Maya
I thought the food was good, the service was good and it was a nice experience. My problem was that I found it expensive for what we ordered,
We ordered the grilled octopus it came out charred. So, we wanted a good dessert, and ordered the baked banana. Well, somehow they managed to burn that too. Honestly the only good thing that came of the night was the cocktail mixologist, and the cocktail Carmelita
Our waiter, Christian was very attentive and accommodating. In comparison to last year, the music wasn’t as loud so we could have a conversation at our table, thank you 😀
Poor service, food poor - ordered fajitas x2 which were lukewarm when they eventually arrived with only 4 tortillas for 2 people, asked for another small dish of guacamole and told sorry sir we would have to charge you extra for that! 1 beer and 2 small glasses of house wine just over £60.00. Very disappointed would definitely not go back or recommend!
Food and location good outside. A bit pricey.
Great place to eat great food would highly recommend it. The only small downfall was the amount of help they had and being low season they were a little understaffed.
This is one of the relatively new, upscale restaurants at Riviera Maya. It serves essentially an upscale, and a little pricey, version of Mexican classics and some innovative variations on them. If you sit inside, be prepared for a sensory overload of TV screens and noise. We sat outside, which was lovely and quiet.
Awesome Mexican dinner on Mexico’s Independence Day 🇲🇽! The Lobster Tacos are crazy good! The Shrimp & Chicken Fajitas were fantastic. The margaritas, made table side with dry ice, were a nice display showing and quite tasty
Food was poor, the outside seating uncomfortable and the music was confusing with several groups/ bands playing at the same time
Went for dinner and drinks with the family and it was amazing! Food was great, very flavorful, good portions. The server, Christian, was very attentive without being overbearing. The drink service was very special, bringing the bar to you on a cart and making the drink in front of you a small presentation.
My only problem was I had such a good first experience that when I went back just for drinks at the bar I was disappointed. The bartender just through my drink together. The drink was not very good, not a full drink, no presentation, and I felt I was pushed out like he had other people to help. I was the only one at the bar!
I will go back again for dinner, just not for drinks only.
Food and presentation was outstanding and the best of our stay at Vidanta.
Food was terrific!
This was our family’s favorite restaurant in the entire resort!
The menu was authentic while having many different options for the family. The food presentation was beautifully colorful, creative and charming using authentic decor. The price value for all of this was extremely decent! Our family (4people) had two appetizers, 4 meals, two deserts and 4 beverages for roughly $160!
The atmosphere was eclectic, fresh and vibrant. Not to mention the 80s music videos that played throughout.
This was a fun and memorable meal, I would definitely go back!!
Last night on our Mexico trip we had a great dinner and cocktails. The food was awesome and the service was excellent. I had grilled octopus and mezcal cocktails.
Amazing food and service. Guacamole and cheese appetizers were amazing. Lobster tacos and enchiladas were a favorite. Drinks at tableside with show were both tasty and fun. Loved the music!
It was a very nice restaurant that has authentic food
Loved it!!! Most amazing flautas EVER!!!! Kinda loud, but super fun with all the music videos.
Love the big screens TVs and the music was very nice plus the food was good
Be aware without a reservation, you will not get seated. We ordered fajitas and received everything that was described except the spring onions were huge and not fully cut. The knives provided could NOT cut through the onions that were long, fat, and all tangled up. It wasn't possible to eat them. There were 4 of us and no one could make their way through them. We asked for a mix of corn and flour tortillas and were given only corn tortillas that weren't fully cooked so they were very grainy and moist. we felt that for the money, we had much better food in a restaurant in the Salum section of the resort.
Como todo en el hotel Vidanta, un engaño total, muy buena apariencia, pero un servicio bastante deficiente y un producto final bastante regular, para los elevados precios que te cobran.
Excellent food, best of the restaurants we visited while staying at the Grand Mayan resort. Pork Shank and the Beef Short Ribs were our favorite!
Another fantastic experience at aVidanta Resort Restaurant. Set in the Salum area of the resort where you feel like your sitting in your back yard under the stars and warm summer night. Almost magical, very relaxing. The food was excellent, the service was what we have come to expect at Vidanta- superb and genuine. Highly recommend this restaurant. Reservations required however does not get busy until around 7:30 or 8:00 pm.
Christian was very kind and a great staff. The food was delicious and the mood of the might was fun
Extremely loud music appropriate for a nightclub and not for a restaurant. We were unable to have any kind of conversation during our dinner.
Try the appetizer with the dried steak, and bean dip.
Great restaurant with wonderful service. Unique take on Mexican cuisine. Loved the unique salsa choices
Best Enchiladas we have ever had and we live in Texas ;) amazing soups. Ceviche and fajitas. Yummy! Lamb tacos! Good wine selection. Beautiful outdoor seating
First they tried to seat 3 of us at a huge round table. No way we could talk and hear each other. So we waited at the bar for half an hour.
The food was average at best, especially given the price. The beef fajitas were rubbery and tasteless. The chicken flautas and chicken quesadilla were good. If you want authentic Mexican street food at the Vidanta eat at Waves N’ Tacos. I would not eat at La Cantina again.
Started the evening with Christina the mixologist creating an experience making the Catrina and Carmelita cocktails table side on her cart. She really enjoys her job and the results show that.
We began the meal with the chicken soup and salad. The soup was so good we went back the next day for more. For entrees we had grilled octopus and beef enchiladas. I was concerned about the octopus being cooked correctly so the chef had me sample it before accepting it. It was perfect. Couple that with a very friendly staff and it made for a delightful evening.
Yes, if you’re on a budget it is on the pricey side. Also the volume of the music mix is a little high but I guess that depends on how much you have been drinking. I definitely recommend La Cantina at VidantaResort Riviera Maya.
the experience was wonderful! we recommend anyone to make reservations and experience the beautiful views and delicious food!
Went 3 times in a week. Amazing. Not much for kids but they are very accommodating in regards taking out spicy peppers, etc.
We waited for over an hour for our food; it came cold. It obviously sat somewhere undelivered.
Great outdoor dining venue. Good food with incredible ambiance.
Christian and the team provided great service. The food and drink were awesome. a good value too.
Excellent food and service by far at Vidanta. Our server Socrates took good care of us. The tequila tasting was really good. We tried their Ceviche in octopus ink and it was fantastic. The enchilada in red sauce and the lobster tacos were scrumptious. To top it was our tree leches.
Food was great. Service was wonderful. Only wish they had outdoor dining.
Best place for Mexican food at Vidanta imo. One of the places that require a reservation and it is a quaint and small restaurant, so plan ahead. Several excellent appetizer courses, we had the guacamole as well as the shrimp with cornbread. Fresh fish and traditional Mexican entrees, and great desserts. We left satisfied. I only marked it down as the music is pretty loud (random MTV videos on a big tv) personally I think jazz would be a better fit.
Very nice and interesting restaurant. You can dine inside, where the decor and ambience is both traditional and hip at the same time, or outside in the Market area for a more laid back atmosphere.
The menu also had both traditional Mexican fare and upscale, unique offerings. Good price range as well.
The staff was very attentive and friendly.
The ambiance was wonderful at the Beachclub outside of the restaurant! The food was good, but not the best compared to the other restaurants at the resort. The service was also not as good as the other finer dining restaurants. We were not offered a second drink throughout the entire dinner. The servers were very friendly and the food came out quickly so perhaps these particular individuals were newer at their job and were a bit overwhelmed with the business of the restaurant at that time.
