One of my favorite restaurants in San Diego because it hits all the marks of flavor, surprise, creativity, and ambiance in that order. Great staff and floor management of dishes and water/wine top ups.
Food was delicious from beginning to end!
Meh. J&I was one of my fav places pre-pandemic. This visit was very average. The menu has been pared down considerably - many fewer choices than before. What we ordered tasted good, but we had to wait an exceedingly long time for everything - drinks and food. I keep hearing that restaurants are having a hard time hiring good help - maybe this is the result. I’m going to wait at least 6 months before trying it again. Hopefully it will regain its prior glory eventually.
So fun and delicious. Juniper & Ivy always delivers
Celebrating a Birthday! Service was top notch and food was fabulous!
The staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was decent. The prices seemed very high for a warehouse, barebones style ambience. The only reasonably priced items were the cocktails which, by far were the favorite items among our group.
We have enjoyed Juniper & Ivy every time we’ve eaten there. It is expensive so it’s not a place to go very often
Terrible service and food was mediocre and waited 2 hours for food on a Tuesday night.
Best restaurant in San Diego. Hands down. Definitely coming back!
A restaurant that actually touches your heart? YES! We mentioned we were celebrating the birthday of our beloved pet (who passed away earlier this year). So, our Server at the conclusion of our meal, quietly brought to our table a most touching memorial. We will not forget.
It was quite cuz there was no one there. Found out why.
Food and service was excellent! I have recommended the restaurant to friends, it is a great part of the San Diego dining scene. Kudos to all the staff at the restaurant... Well Done!!
We were celebrating our son's recent wedding. The servers pulled out all of the "stops" to make our time special and spectacular!...amazing food and service! Thank you!
Great experience. Great food and service. Celebrated anniversary and the staff made it very special for us. Beautiful place.
Our waiter Riley was beyond excellent. He totally made our night. Very knowledgeable on the menu and had wonderful suggestions. We will definitely be back.
Great time, great food
Excellent food, service, and reasonable prices.
Wow super service for the b day boy!
Our server Nate and his assistant Bobby were very patient with our questions and was quite knowledgeable regarding the wines and their distinct differences. We did a variety of small plates and then shared the Ribeye for 2. They were on top of table maintenance and making sure our glasses were always full.
Amazing food, which is what we came for. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and were blown away by all of the deliciousness.
We ate outside, so atmosphere was just okay. They've made it as pleasant as possible. Still under the jet path and random noise from the street.
Top notch food. Ignore any low or negative reviews. Especially the one on the mushy creme Brule. Chocolate, on chocolate on chocolate 🤩 I can't wait to come back again.
I definitely would return to try more dishes. we ordered 7 dishes, they are all great, will go back to order other dishes as well, want to try everything. The best is 'welcome champagne for our anniversary, it was nice', service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.
The dishes are hit or miss with the hits being amazing. Two biggest struggles was the restaurant was freezing. It would’ve been warmer to sit outside in the 50 degree weather. Second, the entire meal has to be ordered at the beginning so I would def ask about portion sizes as every dish is different.
We went to Juniper and Ivy for my 70th birthday. The wait staff was helpful and efficient without being intrusive. We had the seafood corndog and salmon toast to begin. Our second course was the beet and Barada salad which was amazingly delicious. I would go back for that salad any day. We both had the halibut as our entrée and it did not disappoint. For dessert we had the strawberry and rhubarb yodel which was so delicious - just the right amount of tartness and sweet. The restaurant also gave me a chocolate macaroon with sprinkles and a candle for my birthday. We ordered too much and were stuffed when we left. But a good kind of stuffed. It was overall a very special dining experience.
We loved everything! Paul our server was amazing as well! Thank you!!!
This was an amazing experience. Food was outstanding: creative, imaginative, delicious, extraordinarily well executed. The inspiration and melange of flavors was amazing. Even with experiencing the outdoor overflow seating in the parking lot, it’s clear that this restaurant should have a Michelin star. I was shocked that it does not. Hoping the chef gets one soon.
Every member of J&P who assisted us in some way was friendly and helpful. It was my girlfriends birthday, and the restaurant went out of their way remind her of that throughout the night. Food was phenomenal and well presented. Worth every penny.
Not worth the effort. Mediocre food. Way too much airplane noise.
Food and service were both excellent! Staff was super friendly and helpful in offering menu suggestions along with great food and wine pairings.
The food and service was wonderful and it was just enough to override the blahness of the outside seating and the airport/planes noises.
I can't wait until we can be back to normal to enjoy the lovely inside restaurant setting.
The food and inside service was great, but the reception was really bad, we had a reservation and they made us wait for more than 20 minutes outside in the cold, I feel for this level restaurant you guys should come with a better reception, I almost turned and left, it was getting ridiculous. Also the reception no friendly at all.
Great food, ambiance and service. Would definitely go back!!
Food was absolutely amazing. The Beets and Buratta salad was definitely my favorite. The only issue we had was timing. Our main courses came almost 30+ minutes after our appetizer and one of them was cold. We sent it back to be heated up with no issues and other than that, everything about Juniper and Ivy was great. Outdoor seating was nice and warm with all the heat lamps, which was nice since it was a cooler evening out.
Special restaurant with excellent food and service. Fun people watching and atmosphere. Love going there anytime
We were expecting good things prior to our arrival and were very impressed and happy with our experience. The staff and service was the best we've had in quite some time, even though our server was in the weeds a little, but she never let us see her sweat. She handled the food allergy issues we mentioned with grace and the food came out PERFECT. It was my fiance's birthday and they gave her some extra love as well which was a very nice touch. We wouldn't change a thing about our experience and would absolutely go back again.
Nice outdoor dining setup in their parking lot with good spacing and heaters.
Limited but very well prepared vegetarian choices. We enjoyed every dish we ate, they all had a “ wow element”, especially the pea hummus and the beet burrata salad. The veggie bowl and the hazelnut cake dessert were great too.
I only wish they had a better selection of wines by the glass.
The service was attentive and our server was knowledgeable.
I hate giving a mediocre review during this challenging time for restaurants. We have been here several times pre-pandemic and always left happy. There would usually be a dish or two that wasn’t our taste, but we could tell it was thoughtfully prepared.
This meal started off great with the snap pea ricotta and egg yolk raviolo. Both were incredible. Unfortunately our entree (chicken) came out raw in the center. The waitress initially tried to convince us it looked uncooked bc the chicken was organic... we cook with organic chicken regularly and knew it was raw. We didn’t want to risk chicken after that and switched our entree to the halibut. Fish came out lukewarm which was unappetizing. I am guessing they showed the chicken to the kitchen bc someone came out later apologizing for serving raw chicken. Finished the meal with the chocolate creams brûlée which was also poorly executed. Custard wasn’t chilled and brûlée wasn’t crunchy, but soggy. Given the almost $200 price of the meal it’s disappointing when it’s not executed well. Hopefully we were just there on an off night.
Heads up to leave plenty of time for the valet line. We waited over 30 minutes before we were able to drop our car off.
Second time dining here and first time inside. Everything was delicious! And phenomenal service.
