Javier's - La Jolla
We were celebrating a birthday and the evening was perfect
Rihanna was amazing, the whole experience was amazing. So happy to be dinning indoors again!
Amazing ambiance.. food was delicious can’t wait to come back
Was not seated until an hour after my reservation time. Our waiter disappeared. Our food was not brought out until an hour after we ordered.
Amazing food and great service I will be back on my next trip to San Diego
It was our Anniversary everything was perfect!!
Food was amazing and service was exceptional. The carnitas are to die for!
Javier’s never disappoints!
Have had exceptional experiences here in the past, but this most recent time was not amazing. Service was very slow, bad to keep asking for water and additional place settings. Cucumber margarita was not good, food was so-so for price
It was great! The food is super yummy! Super nice and fast service.
Nice vibes, good food, but the service is horrible. Although we had a table booked we were treated very badly and got seated in a very unpleasant location.
Great experience at Javier's overall. The one downside was that we felt like our server was trying to hustle us through dinner. While we asked the waiter to pace drinks, apps & entrees, we were served very quickly. While this may fly during lunch, the push to turn tables was highly evident and undermined our interest in having a nice leisurely dinner.
Awesome restaurant and great service! We love Javier’s!! Although, the last few times my lobster enchiladas have been cold. I have asked for the sauce on the side. .The sauce might be what keeps it warm. I am not sure... Anyway, it is not a deal breaker. We still love the restaurant. Denmarie was our server for a second time.. She is super great!!
Love the food service and ambience!
I used to love this place, but we were a little diasapoimtwd this time with price and service
Margaritas were super sour and food wasnt as good
Beautiful atmosphere and great food. What more could you ask for? Try it, you'll like it!
The restaurant is beautiful and the staff are so professional. The food was outstanding.
We ordered 4 entrees. All of which came out ice cold. Obviously the combination platters are pre-made. Which leads to confusion as to why they could not have at least made sure items were cooked through and hot. Our cheese enchilada had solid pieces of cheese within the tortilla, not in the slightest bit melted. I cannot stress how cold our food was. Reminded me of a frozen mexican dinner that was cooked in the microwave for 3 munutes when it needed at least 5. I paid 200 dollars for four frozen TV dinners. In fact, I've had better frozen TV dinners. Food was just plain YUCK. It's crazy to me this place has good reviews. People have no clue what good, wholesome mexican food is supposed to look and taste like. Go for the ambiance but the food NO BUENO! They have some nerve to charge what they do for the food they serve. People who go to Javiers are those who put style over substance. Wake up people. Do you really think this is good mexican food?!
We have dined here many times and it is always a pleasure to sit on their patio and enjoy the food and drinks. the Mezcal Margarita was excellent and we love the Taquitos appetizer. We all had a salad and the octopus ceviche appetizer.
We will be back again.
Great upscale modern Mexican resturant with artistic interior and excellent service. Creative margarita menu offrers tasty interpretations, but the cuisine is not far from standard Mexican platters. Definitely not worth the exhorbinant prices. Be ready to party here because the latino stripclub style music is deafening. Oh and bring your Ferrari.
In love with this restaurant🙌🏼
The food was so delicious!
More than 5 stars!
Honestly we are pretty much regulars here now! Our adult children even like to join us when going to dinner at Javier’s. The food is always delicious and service can not be compared. Bianca is always so attentive, and even with a mask you can always see she’s smiling. Josh always treats us like family. We ❤️ Javiers!
It’s an excellent restaurant in San Diego we love you
Good Mexican food and atmosphere
A little too crowed for COVID guidelines.
Booked a birthday dinner reservation here a few days in advance. Had a friend call a day in advance to pay for part of the meal. We didn’t wait long. Hosts were very nice to let us add a few people to the reservation several hours in advance. It was really warm inside the restaurant and it was very busy and crowded. Everyone was following social distance rules however it made us a little uncomfortable that every table was full. We did understand that restaurants need to get back on track. But we were a little concerned. The check/ bill process wasn’t smooth due to the credit from the friend not being applied to the bill. Half our party left because valet stand was closing. So we had people sitting in cars waiting on us for 30 minutes to handle the check. So that took some last minute organization. Friend had to call the restaurant, host stand was very busy, servers trying to make it all happen. Overall a great experience, it just took forever to get the check situation handled. Servers were nice and the food was great. Other than it being too hot inside and the check issue. No problems.
The service at Javier's was phenomenal. From the maître d'hôtel to the waitstaff, it was the best in the book. The food and cocktails were equally fabulous. Everyone at our table was impressed. These people should author a textbook in customer training. Please open one in Boise, Idaho!!!
Very satisfied overall
-overall great evening, good people watching, expensive but great drinks.
-the chips and salsa are great, the guac very runny and minimal flavor (water downed?)
-chopped salad with chicken was I think $25...which is highly overpriced for portion, strictly an appetizer.
-enchilada suiza was good, but again nothing spectacular.
-its an ambiance place far more than service and good food. the original javiers in newport had great food and ambience, unfortunately the latter only applies here.
My husband and I haven’t gone out on a date for 6 months due to covid and a new baby and was seated in the makeshift “ front porch “ . Would of preferred to sit in the actual restaurant’s outside patio for the ambiance.
Javiers exceeded all our expectations!!! We went to celebrate my bday and it was amazing. Definitely our vibe and the service and food was excellent! Definitely one of my favorite Mexican restaurants! I’ve been to the one in Dallas and Vegas, but my first in La Joya! The margaritas were delicious and just kept coming! Great time!
Rating would be higher, but COVID precautions were sub-par, i.e., room capacity was higher than one would expect, servers wore masks, but not face shields, plexi was placed between booths, but booth seating was not wiped down between guests, straws were placed in drinks instead of wrapped straws being provided to guests, menus were provided in vinyl folders rather than providing disposable paper menus.
We were promptly sat at our booth and got immediate attention from the friendly staff. Everything was delicious and we got the filet/lobster along with the Del Mar enchiladas. As well, the mixed beverages were delectable. We look forward to returning. The only slight downside was the music was a bit loud on the patio.
Took my mother here for her birthday. I cannot express the amazing service we got will be making another reservation very soon. Thank you so much
Wow! The food and service blew me away. The space is spectacular and the service and food lives up to the ambiance. We loved everything but my fave if the night was the Guayaba margarita.
Always a fine dinning experience when in Javiers with the whole family
Great place with always friendly service. Decent food but expensive. But good place to hang out.
Great family experience! Safety conscious environment & staff. Meal was absolutely delicious. The team at Javiers made us feel welcome and well cared for.
This was my first time here. AMAZING!!! restaurant is gorgeous, trendy and the service was great.
Javier's never fails to deliver on great quality food. This was our first time to this particular location and it will not be our last visit there. I did a lobster tail that was cooked to perfection. My husband had the carnitas which was crispy yet juicy. Must try the guacamole very flavorful. The salsa is amazing.
