Javier's - La Jolla
The place looks great. Unfortunately the margarita was expensive and weak, our waiter had too many tables to take care of and my food was cold on delivery. Eventually they remade it but this time it was lukewarm. For an expensive meal, it was a big disappointment. I’ll give them another try sometime soon
We, unfortunately, had a very grumpy waiter. Our goal was to get a quick bite after coming home on a flight.
Our waiter, Omar, was clearly less than thrilled that we didn’t order drinks or appetisers. He didn’t crack a smile until the end. We even caught him turning around and seemed to mutter something under his breath. He actually brought the check with dessert.
Great ambience, my first time was a bit disappointing because of that. Food was good though.
Good food and service... higher price for the value received. SUPER loud (Thursday evening). Music was blasting from the overhead speakers in addition to people talking above the noise... i feel this is good for younger, business professionals crowd to mix and mingle. Not a good place for family with children.
Food was delicious. The place is just beautiful. We are coming back for sure
Food was delicious. Service was great. Edgar was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, which was a bonus. He recommended some great drink and food options. Glad we went with his suggestions. We will definitely be back to try some other options.
Service was excellent, I made a reservation and everything flow the way I expected.
I recommend Javier's for a dinner, date, celebration or just drinks.
The design its super nice you wont regret it.
The food was excellent. The drinks are very high priced and the quality was iffy. Service acceptable but they seemed to be confused when we asked for a specific brand of tequila, for example.
This is the second time I have been to Javiers and it’s the second time the service was slow and terrible. Drinks took forever. We got guacamole but ran out of chips it took 3 different waiters to get them. Our food took forever and our waiter switched over and we barely saw him. For what you pay to eat there it would be nice to get good service!
Food was amazing, but it was the vibe and design of the space that blew me away
Amazing food and excellent service.
Food is consistently great! Can’t go wrong with La Tablita!!
Incredible food! Service! And ambiance. A must try!
Been wanting to try Javier’s and we finally did! Great food and service. Great place to bring kids because the place was loud. We brought our favorite 16-month-old daughter with us.
Quality food for sure! We will be back. Talia was our server and she was fantastic.
We went for a pre Father’s Day lunch, beautiful restaurant!
End of school year celebration
We waited almost 2hours for what they said would be 45 minutes. Steak was not prepared the way we asked and manager said my wife "ate too much" of it (which was literally 3 bites) for him to do anything about it - very petty for a high end restaurant. . Avoid this location - drive up to OC for your Javier's fix. We've never been disappointed by the locations up there.
Great food and ambiance
Early Father’s Day celebrations and friends’ get-together
The food was marginal. The short rib sauce was good, but the short ribs themselves were sub par for the price they demanded. I’m not sure this is a repeat experience for me.
Exceptional food, service and atmosphere . Javiers has become a new “go to” restaurant for me, my family and friends.
great ambiance. service was consistent. food is good in quantity, quality is good but needs a little more flavor.
Fun, trendy atmosphere. A bit on the loud side, but festive. Amazing food - trued all dishes at our table and all were amazing. Food is pricey but was a great experience.
We used to go to the Javier’s in Irvine and Costa Mesa, always perfect service and food. This chain definitely does their homework, Javier’s La Jolla continues the impeccable tradition of fine Mexican cuisine
Very good service
Great atmosphere good food will be back soon
Decor is great. Service was kind and attentive. Food was wonderful.
It's quite a beautiful venue, with great decorations and a nice inside/outside eating environment. There's a large bar with high seats, as well as tables for the restaurant. Both smaller tables (4 people) and larger group tables were seen. Fire pits are on the outside part of the restaurant. Very loud, so not great for a date, but good for a group outing. Mexican food is good, with excellent presentation. Chips and salsa come like everywhere else, but nothing special there. However, pricing is crazy. $28 for an Enchilada? In fact, every main meal is $20-$25 and over, and most well above $30. I don't think it's a good value for the money, but the atmosphere is nice. Drinks are also very expensive, with house (small) margarita at $17. Fun once.
Music was too loud for dinner.
Food was tasty and staff were friendly. Food was served hot and on time.
Really happy with the experience with Javier's. Wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was fantastic. Even my picky mother-in-law enjoyed the food and the atmosphere!
Keep up the awesome work
Beautiful restaurant, the service was great and so was the food. It is, however, so loud that you can’t have hear conversation across the table. I was impressed at how quickly the food came out compared to how busy the restaurant was... most San Diego restaurants don’t get this part right. Kudos javier!! Kitchen is on point. 👌🏽
I was told that the music wasn’t going to be very loud until 9 and right when we got there at 7:30 it was so loud I couldn’t even here my guest that were with me. Service wasn’t that great waited way too long from the beginning for our table and for our server to come take our drink orders. I was pretty disappointed with the experience.
Expensive Drinks, Cold Food, Not busy ( Lunch time) ...expected more... a "Happy Hour" would be nice just to bring prices down to something "respectable"...
The food was incredible. I highly recommend the steak Piccado. We had a reservation and were seated on time. Our server was disappointing and basically walked up to our table and said “what can I get you?” I am used to servers that ask if we have been there before, walk us through the menu and make recommendations. Decor was very cool. We will be back.
Javier's was the location for a very important date night for me and my lady. The restaurant did a great job of seating us in a very nice location which was set off by the beauty of the venue. The only downside was the slow valet service which had cars ranging from Lambos, Bentleys, and Ferrari's sitting out front. After getting over that hurdle we proceeded to enjoy a very nice and romantic dinner on the patio side facing the interior of the room. Heat lamps were provided outside which generated adequate heat to keep us warm. The food while pricey was very good. I ordered the filet mignon and lobster dish, however the lobster appeared to come inside of a enchilada etc. That threw me off a bit, as I was just expecting a lobster tail but the pairing worked well. I was a little bit worried about service based off other reviews, but for the most part I would say the service met my expectation. I also would like to give Javier's a handclap for doing all the hard work and delivering a very nice date night experience for two out of towners!
Gave us table 45 mins late even though we had our table reserved through the open table! Manager and the front desk staff was simply rude and did not care while seeing my wife is pregnant and waiting for 45 mins.
Server Juan was unattentive, distracted and appeared overwhelmed with his section. We waved to get hus attention and he didnt notice us while standing at the next booth. We asked the food runner to find him which worked. Drinks and food were excellent but i won't be back.
Little pricey, food is ok but atomosphere is great
I love this place, delicious food, amazing cocktails, and usually service. BUT I would advise the servers not to rush a reservation party of 4+ due to not eating a meal for the use of table during ‘rush’. 6’4 ft men do not fit in tight bar spaces comfortably, hence the reservation. The specialty cocktails are fairly marked above average due to quality, the quantity per person ea. over the course of a few hours makes up for the lack of the meal $ wise.
The food was outstanding and the service was pretty good. Everyone was on top of things. The place is noise. So a little hard to hear conversations.
