The island is a restaurant that you can never go wrong. Just great food reasonable prices friendly staff energetic atmosphere. Just always guaranteed leaving feeling good
But I got an email from open table telling me that we were a no show. We weren’t. I’ve never done that. We were there and had a nice time.
Waitstaff, Adriana, made us feel like we were family. She's a very special person. Three more like her and you'll retire 5-years sooner!!!
Kindest regards, Arthur Innace
This place is always wonderful! For meeting a friend for lunch, a family birthday dinner, or a romantic evening - the people and the food are great!
A Carnegie Hill neighborhood staple and for good reason: a truly phenomenal menu offers something for everyone, even the pickiest of eaters; the ambience is bright and cheerful with seaside scenes adorning the walls; service is prompt; everything was deelish — from calamari starter to the mussels to burgers to great salads. Super casual too.
have eaten here several times while in nyc...not a great experience this time...with a reservation we were seated at a small table just off the kitchen/serving area...it took too long to be served our wine...the lobster was dry and rather tasteless...all in all, for the price, i'll think twice about returning.
Always enjoy this restaurant. Service always good with nice people working there.
Tuna burger so good as is kale salad. Best lobster roll uptown.
Drinks, wine - the reason it’s a neighborhood favorite.
Very pleasant. Food was good, menu had something for everyone. Noise level allowed good conversation without straining to hear one another
Nice place, poor service. For a table of five, the waiter came back after we ordered to ask again what two of us had ordered. And then, after being told at least three times one of the orders was a grilled cheese, hold the bacon and tomato, he delivered an omelette and green salad instead. No apology other than an embarrassed "Oh, sorry!" Not acceptable!
A great place for lunch - wonderful salads and specials. You can hear your companions talk. The service is reasonably attentive, as well. For dinner, they have nice fish and a lively crowd.
Perfect for a nice lunch if you’re in the neighborhood.
Lovely restaurant. I went with a friend for lunch. The menu had lots of good options. We both ordered the salmon and shared a pear tart Tatin . Delicious. Service was smooth and we sat for a long time without being rushed after we ate our meal. Highly recommended.
So very nice! A great neighborhood spot, always a pleasure!
Lovely food and decor. Relaxed but elegant upper east side vibe.
Great neightborhood spot. Feels like the UES, but Carnegie Hill style. Check it out
The food was good as usual. I love the menu selection.
Salads are great.
My personal favorite is the desert: ice-cream sandwich!!
Delicious well prepared food served in a lovely setting. Neighborhood is wonderful!!
Great food and ambiance, but noise level was too high at peak evening hour
We always enjoy a night out at Island. Good for lunch too!
Lots of fish on menu . Nice selectio
Very agreeable pleace to lunch, though can get noisy when the dining room is full. Service excellent and agreeable. Curried chicken salad could have used a bit more curry but had wonderful, crisp-fresh greens -- watercress I think. Very good cappuccino, too.
We were group of 6 ladies and ate lunch outside. Food, service and ambiance all very good.
Amazing service, ambiance and value relative to the location. My family is from Hawaii and I know my poke and I can verify that their tuna poke was on point. Will come back again soon!
Remains one of our favorites. Always dependable at the highest level!
Great spot for brunch. Wonderful selection on menu. Quiet environment made it easy to have a conversation with our table mates.
Great place for a brunch on a weekend. Food and service were great
The grill was not working and after we were seated they told us only salads were available
The service was non existent and after we ordered drinks and we asked for dubbinet they informed us they did not have any , so we ordered a wine, the waiter then returned and after we sipped our Rose he said he found the dubbinet in the back of the bar but did not replace our wine with the requested drink
A neighborhood gem on Madison Avenue in Carnegie Hill. Bartenders know how to pour drinks. The food is pretty good at its price point. The wait staff is delightful - like dining with your fronds.
My first lunch at Island after a visit to the Guggenheim Museum. Excellent lunch and service. Children’s menu as well. Very nice. We will come back
One of the best restaurants on the Upper East Side!!
Convenient to Museums with good food and diverse menu.
Our favorite restaurant - good for everyday or a special occasion!
Fish special was quite good but the broccoli underneath was sparse and woody.
Wonderful food, great vibes, attentive and friendly service. Our favorite restaurant!
I’m a long-time fan of Island Restaurant, but they were extra-wonderful for this special dinner party! The food was delicious as always, but I want to make special mention of Kate, who helped me make sure things were set up the way I wanted, and our server, Nicolette, who was fabulous and made the whole dinner party extra fun! It was a terrific evening!
I cannot recall ever having a bad meal there Their menu selection is outstanding
I am particularly partial to their salads and soups.
Since it’s getting more and more popular, it gets a bit too noisy😢
Island is a neighborhood favorite and one of the best on "Restaurant Row".
Acoustics require improvement or I must get younger.
Everything was perfectly fine for a lunch with out-of-town guests.
Fantastic little neighborhood place. The food was delicious and made with fresh ingredients, the staff was friendly and attentive without making us feel rushed. The noise level was a little high, but we were there at 8pm on a Thursday evening so it was to be expected. Would highly recommend to locals and visitors alike.
