Ordered the lamb chops I believe they were microwaved. They were not medium. They can not accommodate shellfish allergy since they fry everything in the same oil. Meal was disappointing and expensive
I ate at Il Canale once before and had a good experience. But I brought a small group of friends back and was embarrassed at how terrible the food and service were. Unfortunately I recommended the restaurant and was so disappointed. I will not return to Il Canale in the future. A seafood dish had very little seafood. The carbonara was dry. The spaghetti and meatballs were ok. None of it was worth the cost. The service was rushed and generally bad from the start. A number of servers bumped our table guests as they rushed by. Our server seemed overwhelmed and unresponsive. The manager asked us to move our entire table over in the middle of our main course to accommodate a large party. My friends and I are generally easygoing people and can let things go, but this experience had zero redeeming qualities.
I’ll Canale was recommended to me by a friend. Great pizza and pasta. The serve of gnocchi was a bit small. The pizza and desserts were fabulous.
The salad was great, the pizza was a bit soggy for my taste. Service was really great and the lunch time noise level was fine.
Excellent as always!
Wonderful place to eat dinner. We sat outside as the inside can be noisy. The hosts are very charming. Food is good. Only complaint was that the house salad dressing was a bit bland.
Soggy tasteless pizza. Worst bolognese ever. Rude host. I think you get the picture.
The restaurant was perfect. I have never gone to an Italian restaurant and gotten the food so quickly! It was incredible.
Me and my friends got my table right at the time I reserved the seat.
The quality of the food was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive.
I definitely will come back and will recommend the restaurant to all of my friends.
Absolutely amazing, authentic Italian food. The staff is very knowledgable and they obviously take pride in what they are serving. The owner happened to be dining there when we went and he was so friendly. This is a must if you are in the DC area.
Wonderful service. Terrible food. Although we have enjoyed this restaurant before, we find it
inconsistent in terms of quality.
This was our third visit on two short trips to DC. They have gluten free options which are delicious, and my son is gluten free. It's not an easy find, and Il Canale makes it as delicious as gluten free could be! He was very happy. For us non gluten-free people, the food is delicious! The pizza is to die for. The first time we went we didn't have a reservation, and the wait was over an hour. They stand outside with pizza samples, which keeps you motivated to wait! The branzino was excellent, as were the pasta dishes. This most recent third time, my son ordered a double of his GF pasta, and realized afterward that the portions were bigger than he remembered. They graciously took back the second plate. We've eaten outside, inside on the first floor, and finally, upstairs. The last location was our least favorite, because there is little ambiance compared with the others, but we were so hungry and the food was so good, we really didn't care. There is also a small outside terrace upstairs which looked cute. The first floor is bustling and a bit noisy, but fun! We'll always go back here when we're in Georgetown.
Loved it! We sat outside, the food was fresh and hot, and tasted AMAZING! Our server was pleasant, polite, professional and attentive. We look forward to coming back.
The host was rude from the beginning and our server had a bad attitude. Our appetizer, severed cold, was delivered at the same time as our food. We didn't eat and the server took it a trashed it without giving us the opportunity to get it boxed up. They didn't care about our needs and I won't be back.
The pizza is truly fantastic! We had the prosciutto Parma with arugula-delicious! Their dough is 100% organic and the taste is incredible. Save room for the cannolis!
A go to for a wonderful night with friends. Staff is amazing and the food is awesome!
The pasta are great, the chicken main dish was OK, could be better. Dessert and others are very nice as well
Great service from outside Host to Waitress to Manager.
This has been our second time there, but it has been a long time! We know the owner due to another restaurant he has owned in the past and have enjoyed the food there so we knew we would not be disappointed. We were entertaining guests from out of town and thought Georgetown was a great place to be and Il Canale came to mind. Everyone enjoyed their meals and liked several of the options that were more family style. We were celebrating a young girl's birthday so the cannoli was delicious. Everything was as fresh and we really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately the owner was not there due to being in Sicily. It would have been nice to see him again.
Food was excellent but waiter seemed to rush us. 2 of our party were gone from the table and he wanted to take our order.
Nice! Great pizza and pasta. Tommy the server- what a nice young man!
Lovely outdoor patio - warm welcoming service. Great food
I was expecting more and better. My colleagues had a salad and lasagne and I had a steak salad with arugula and sundried tomatoes. All of us thought our meals were just fair.
Awesome pizza! Just like Naples.
Perfectly lovely well priced Italian. Great for lunch. Would happily go again
Not sure why this restaurant has such great reviews. We found this place just average and very expensive for what you get. It was kind of disappointing.
Top italian in Georgetown, excellent pizza and me pasta, and nice and friendly service
The service was not good, if you make reservations, you still have to make a line and wait for your table even though you booked one. The are missing waiters with nice manners.
Our favorite place to eat in Georgetown when visiting our son!
Great food. Great service. Lots of fun. I recommend.
This place is always great! We come here every time we're in town. Wonderful!
Awesome ! And glutton free selections great as well
Very good restaurant in Georgetown. Great location. But reserve ahead of time to avoid long lines. Great and friendly service. Very good food but not astounding as we were hoping. Still we sincerely recommend it as a very good experience.
Absolute Must for tasty artisan pizza in DC/Georgetown, this place was busy and it was not just for tourists. The maitre de was outstanding and using opentable to make the reservation was very important, thanks!
Too long to get seated even after the reservation. Entrees were brought out within minutes of the antipasti. There should be a gap. And no bread was given.
Amazing experience! The Napoli pizza, lamb chops, and grilled salmon were fantastic. One of the best restaurants in DC
Pizza is good. But seating staff arrogant, and table service super rushed.
Pizza was not cooked and soggy. Server was busy and disengaged. Lasagna tasted like Chef Boyardee which would be fine if it wasn't a $20 entre.
2nd time dining, nice casual Italian spot. Salads were room temperature would be the only negative..
I rate the food sour stars today. I had a pretty good sea bass, tender fish and cooked in a pocketed parchment paper with vegetables. Very fresh and light, but very little food. I would have enjoyed a sauce on it with perhaps some bread or a bit more potato. I usually get pizza which i always date five stars, because they do a greeeaaat job.
Wasn’t terribly loud, had an easy enough time talking to my girlfriends, and ambiance is good, nothing extraordinary.
Waitress didn’t come check on us as often as I’d like.
Overall, four stars!
Calamari was fried perfect but sauce was watery and bland. Food overall was decent but could have been better Service was very good.
