Modern style is carefully fused with Southern charm into a polished interpretation of the fabled hearth rooms where men gathered to sip bourbon, warm by the fire and exchange stories of the hunt. Today, The Hunt Room is an intimate tavern tucked away in the heart of The Cavalier, serving simple cuisine inspired by rustic, old world traditions alongside hand-crafted cocktails, beers and wines.

The Hunt Room serves up a generous dose of Tidewater favorites coupled with extraordinary service. Its relaxing atmosphere provides a great place to unwind whether you’ve spent a day on the beach or in a business meeting. Our server Angelina is truly the best and is passionate about ensuring that her customer’s experience a one of a kind culinary adventure.

The service was better this time but the kitchen is still very slow. It was surprising to find that the oyster stew did not contain any oysters. Their explanation was that there were oysters blended into the broth. This was the first time I was served oyster stew and was unable to find a single oyster in it.

We love eating at The Hunt Room in the historic Cavalier Hotel. We requested seating at the bar which is always warm and cozy with a window looking into the Tarnished Truth Distillery, We started with Smoked Old Fashioneds made with Tarnished truth bourbon. Next, we split a wedge salad, which was the perfect amount for both of us. I had the Brisket French Dip as my main course. It was served piping hot and stuffed with tender and juicy beef brisket. My husband opted for the Fish and Chips, which were perfectly cooked with a crunchy shell highlighting tender cod fish. He also ordered a side of their cornbread stuffing - a delightful addition that is normally served as a side for the roasted quail. We were so full, that there was no room for one of their delicious house-made desserts. Looking forward to our next visit to the Hunt Room,
