The food was great and the service was very good. In this way, it was the Hollyhock I always knew. That history was the reason my wife and I had our rehearsal dinner there in 2013. In recent years they got away from the square tables with white table clothes and went with long tables without any covering. Additional tables were put in the space as well. As a result, the ambiance changed from a nice Sunday Dinner space to something more like a cafeteria with good food. The more casual setting with more people in the space has made it a much louder place to eat. I still enjoy going, but it's not what it was. Whenever we go, I'm reminded of why we don't go more often.

Dinner was excellent as always. Our server Tracy was attentive and polite. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Timeless classic restaurant! Food is delicious...best fried chicken!! Our server Tracy was excellent...he did a fantastic job! Will definitely be back!

Great chicken and sides. Price is very reasonable for the amount of food. My only negative is the decor. I enjoy looking at the white iron, mauve and murals, but it could stand to be updated a bit. We had our rehearsal dinner here 13 years ago. Decided to go again for our anniversary which was the first time since our wedding. Place has not changed.

Enjoyable and great food. Pleasant but can get nosiy as it get busy. Maybe a little pricey for some but you get plenty of food and what you don't eat, you can take home. For instance, we had another complete meal with the left overs. Thats 2 for the price of one. We're not regulars we almost always choose this place for special occasions. (the reason were not regulars is that we live about 45 min. away) They do have their ups and downs on food prep and wait staff, but I say about 80-90% of the time they nail it.

My wife and I hadn’t been to Hollyhock Hill for decades. Went here for her birthday together with our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. The place is very much as I remember it - I call it Family Elegant - though sadly, no one (especially men) seem inclined to dress up when dining out anymore Food was excellent, fried chicken some of the best in the Midwest (although the Log Inn outside of Evansville and The Chicken Place in Ireland, IN are up there as well). Sides, all served family style, are all very good - the biscuits exceptionally good. Our server was excellent - didn’t catch his name but he’s clearly one of the longtime standouts there. My only complaint was my drink, The Hollyhock described as sweet and tart. Not tasty at all (though I’m admittedly not much of a mixed drink guy). So glad this institution is still going strong and keeping up their standards - since 1928!

As always, the food was plentiful and delicious! We had a delightful waitress who was very attentive to our needs in spite of the numerous tables she was serving. We had a table behind us of patrons who were loud, rude and very annoying...hence, the 3-stars for ambience.
