It was amazing! The food had amazingly delicious flavor! The fact that everything was vegan made my actual vegan friend happy because she never really eats much when we eat other places in LA but she was excited with all the options here!! Loved it and will recommend everyone to come here not just vegans!
Our waitress was mean and never checked and AVOIDED eye contact with us. She then yelled at us for not leaving enough of a tip- I am not kidding. I’ve never experienced that in my life. I think she proved to herself why she got the tip she did. She was nothing but upset, unkind, and unpleasant to work with...
The tasting menu is a great way to try a few different menu items, at a good value. The portions were larger than I was expecting, and the quality of the food was top notch. Service was good as well, and staff were all very friendly. Great atmosphere and food.
As always the management fails to understand that they must have a valet available. Even in the off hours, the neighborhood is almost impossible to find a parking space. Valet is kind of a No Brainer so one wonders is they screw this up, what else do they do wrong??
Food for Vegan is really good although lacking as opposed to what they are trying to simulate. Priced okay but no bargains. Service was good.
I don't normally gravitate to vegan restaurants but my seeming mistake turned out just fine as the food and service wer0e both great. I thought it was a bit pricey, but coming from the Midwest perhaps I'm just not cognizant of LA prices.
I will NEVER go back. Made reservations more than 4 weeks ago. When we arrived the hostess sat us the WORST table in the restaurant, while the restaurant was half empty. When we asked to move to the next empty table, the hostess informed us that they didn't have a server for that table. No more than 3 minutes they sat another party of 3 at that very same table.
Servers were more interested in socializing amongst themselves than serving partons. We were completely ignored and had to go looking for a server to place our order.
BAD place. Save your money and go someplace else.
My friends and I came to celebrate two birthdays. We also competed in Tough Mudder together so this was our celebration dinner. We had a fantastic time and everyone LOVED the food. Only two of the four are meat eaters and there were no complaints. We had tapas, cocktails, entrees, and dessert! What a great evening!
Everything was fantastic up until dessert when our server forgot to put in our order. When she finally stopped by the table almost 20 minutes later, we had to ask her about it. Then she went to the computer, placed our order and the dessert came another 10 minutes later. For $12, there wasn't even an apology or attempt to make it right. Great experience turned to disappointment at the end.
Honestly can't say enough good things about Gracias Madre. I mentioned that it was my 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend, and all the staff were extremely gracious. 4 different employees wished us happy anniversary, they sent us a candle on our dessert, and our waiter and hostess were so kind. The spicy margarita was one of the best I've had in LA (no one seems to be able to do them right!) and the food was mouth-watering. 100% definitely, absolutely coming back soon.
Gracias Madre never disappoints. For vegans and meat eaters and everyone in between, the unique tasty dishes are always wonderful and the atmosphere can't be beat! I always bring friends from out of town here and they are always impressed. Plus, the staff is so kind.
Vibe was very trendy but also very cozy and welcoming. The service was outstanding--staff were warm and friendly. Food was good and clean. My friend and I ordered a lunch tasting menu which, for $20, came with an appetizer, two entrees, and dessert--thought it was a great deal! We all also ordered margaritas--their mezcal cocktails really hit the spot for a midday drink.
My 2nd time to Gracias Madre, this time for a dinner date. Always amazed at Chef Chandra Gilbert's creations, they inspire and leave me wanting more and more. I would recommend a night with Gracias Madre to any of my friends or even random people talking food on the street. It was wonderful.
We had the Tres Bowl, Enchiladas Verde and Flautas de Camote...after our Elote Appetizer. Everything was incredible. My partner thought the elote left something wanting, I told her it was the wanting for more. Tres bowl was filling and full of flavor, the Flautas were colorful and fun to eat. The star of the evening for sure was the Enchilada Verde. My oh my what a wondrous thing to put against my palate. I can taste the spices and sauce melting in my mouth as we speak. The Enchiladas were served with sauteed spinach and refried beans which I lovingly slathered in any sauce that was left on the plate. I cannot express my extreme gratitude for this Chef and crew.
I love this place! The food is excellent! The service is even better! This time I ordered the awesome cauliflower and it was just a tad undercooked but still delicious. Gracias Madre is always my first choice. I have been vegan for over twenty years and I am picky when it comes to my vegan fare! LOL! Great job as usual! I'll be back!
It's a beautiful restaurant and 100% organic vegan. Great food and drinks. Went on a Monday night for my husband's birthday and by 8:00 it was absolutely packed. Very noisy inside, so I think outside is best if you want to have intimate conversations.
The service was very slow, took a good 20 minutes for our waiter to acknowledge us and bring water. The service was also highly error-prone, every item was served to the incorrect person and/or incorrect table. The food was ok, not great. The desserts were disappointing, nearly all of them had unadvertised cinnamon in them, even the sauce on the chocolate ice cream. The restaurant was very crowded and noisy. Parking is difficult and the valet is slow.
I'm not a vegan, but I have friends who are. One of them, who I haven't seen for 35 years, was in West Hollywood for a few days and wanted to meet for dinner. When she mentioned she was now a vegan, I immediately recommended Gracias Madre. The food is excellent, creative, delicious, and even for omnivores like myself, very satisfying.
Maybe there was a new chef, but the food lacked the sophistication of flavor that we were expecting. The coconut ceviche was an excellent idea, but execution was subpar. Our waiter was very nice and the outside patio looked like a great setting. Indoors, it was extremely loud and noisy. There is a lot of potential for this restaurant or maybe we came on an off night.
The food was delicious , fantastic ambiance , amaizing drinks . Great place to hang out with friends on a Friday night. But our server was horrible , asked the manager to change our server took over an hour and we didn’t have a server within that time to order anything . After an hour we got a server name Antonio , he was fantastic and made up for the bad one . Valet only takes cash so make sure to have cash if you are valt Parking . Over all a great place .
