Gjelina is a restaurant that serves locally-sourced, produce-forward food with menus guided by conversations and long-standing relationships with farmers, local ranchers, fishermen, and co-ops. Our first location Gjelina LA in Venice Beach opened in 2008 becoming a staple in the local community. We are currently open for lunch, brunch, and dinner services.

Think labneh on toast with grape jam and sea salt, pizzas topped with confit tomatoes and smoked mozzarella, and salads studded with burrata and honeynut squash. Enjoy it all with a classic cocktail or a glass of wine in the bright bi-level space done up in light woods.

My new fave in NYC. Always loved the LA one but this one is fresher interior wise, gives you vibes as if you’re walking and dining in someone’s home with the many different areas. Loved the mussels and the duck confit.

I specifically made a reservation at a time when “standard” table seating was available, but upon arrival, we were seated at the bar. When I asked the hostess if we could wait for a table, she said it would be at least 30 minutes and pointed to the fine print stating the restaurant reserves the right to seat guests anywhere. This was a client dinner, and sitting shoulder-to-shoulder at the bar made it difficult to talk business. There also wasn’t enough space for the food we ordered. I’m not usually particular about seating, but this really put a damper on the experience. The food is excellent, but they need to fix this system. If they offer specific seating options during booking, they should honor them.

Amazingly fresh and flavorful food in a space that feels special. We tried a variety of menu items — cocktails, charcuterie, vegetables, pizza, pasta — and it all rated 10/10.

I was expecting a lot more from Gjelina. The food is nothing special or particularly tasty. Tried eggs and pancakes and really could not distinguish any flavours. Cocktails are good. The ambiance is mixed while super casual; restaurant set up is a little awkward too.

My second time there and seated at the bar upstairs. Buckwheat banana bread to start, followed by the frittata. Delicious. Very happy with my selections. Of course I hope to return again!
