Our menu of seasonal, local ingredients is a modern take on traditional Mexican flavors with dishes cooked in the fires of our wood-burning oven and open grill. Our cocktails are inspired by 1940’s tropical Tiki bars with local seasonal fruits and herbs, and all juices and syrups made in house daily. Mezcal is our specialty, with offerings of over 40 different mezcales from Oaxaca.
We open at 6:00 pm, 7 days a week for dinner.
We accept online reservations for groups up to 6 people. Friday is our famous Jungle Party with DJ beginning at 10:00 pm. Bottle service reservations are accepted starting at midnight. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for large parties' reservations as well as bottle service reservations.
Only bad part about my experience is I had I to put my credit card down to reserve. Checked in at the desk and host forgot to mark me down as checked in. I was charged a $75 no show fee. Restaurant credited me once I contacted them.
Save your money and go elsewhere in Tulum. This place is the legit worst.
It's a place to see and be seen. Drinks are solid food is nothing special or even worth it. Again it's a runway for the Tulum crowd of weeklong gypsy's and Instagram wannabes in a Miami Esq setting.
Delicious food and nice drinks. Staff incredible friendly. Can’t wait to come back
The candles on the bathroom floor caught my friends skirt completely on fire and she got 3rd degree burns but they comped our meal and the food was good and the atmosphere & dj are always good
The food was terrible. I was sick after eating raw red snapper on their menu.
Food was over priced and mediocre at best. Service is like most places in Tulum - sloppy.
Cena animada y con mucho ambiente.
Servicio lento y la comida no era buena.
La fiesta espectacular.
The worst. Seated at table an hour late. It took 45 minutes for water and drinks to arrive. The food was ordered upon sitting down at table and was taking over an hour to arrive at which point the waiter said it was last call for food. Once the order arrived it was all wrong and missing all the main courses. They couldn’t fix it because the kitchen was overwhelmed and was closing. They said sorry we can recommend another restaurant we didn’t expect to be so busy. Extremely disappointed.
After Gitano was hyped by everyone we were massively let down by the whole experience. We were clearly given the worst table due to our open table reservation despite other tables being free. The cocktails were fine for price but not very good at all... The food was average at best for the price and extremely salty.
The service was also average - no one came to check how things were, ask if we wanted more drinks - nothing.
While the location is extremely beautiful it is too hyped for what it is and the price. There are many more better places in the zona hotelera that are way cheaper. Not worth the reservation to be honest...
The host made us wait at the bar for 90 minutes. I approached him several times to remind him of our reservation and he just ignored me. Worst experience
We have eaten here many times over the years and considered this one of our favorite spots.
But this year there was a big decline in the food and presentation.
The menu is the same as last year but the portion size and presentation was totally different. Very disappointed in the lack of consistency. Food was just ok. Ambiance and music was amazing but we really missed the outstanding food that we had before.
It was very difficult with the order, taken one hour minimum till arrived. The same with the check. Atmosfere was good, let s Say, but the Food and the duration was too long.
Have traveled the world for business and pleasure this takes top prize... worst experience. The place wants to be fun and carefree but it is so forced it is painful.
Gitano was an absolute MUST visit when dining in tulum. Out of all places it was our favorite. The atmosphere is so much fun, the food is truly delicious and I the price point was decent compared to other restaurants, like Hartwood and hotels.
Great, inventive thanksgiving dinner
We were pleased with the restaurant and experience until I was surprised with a no show message from OpenTable and a charge on my credit card of pretty much 1,000 dollars! We went to the place, paid in cash and our bill was not even close to that amount. I am on vacation having to deal with this kind of credit card problem and the personal info was only given to OpenTable. Not worth it!
Me pusieron en una mesa al lado del asador y me llené de humo . Era mi aniversario 2.
fuimos un día viernes día de baile, muy buenos coctails y la comida bastante abundante, un poco incómodo el nivel de rudio
Great Tulum style place with very good food, stunning atmosphere and very good service. I love it. Best place in Tulum.
El mejor lugar de Tulum para cenar y despues pasar la fiesta hasta las 3 am, el dia de Gitano es viernes ... Recomiendo los cocteles de mezcal que son la onda y deliciosos.
Food was great service was excellent even on the rainy day
Food was meh... Service was meh... Was recommended to me by a friend and now I’m questioning this persons taste level.
I didn’t feel that the staff cared very much about our experience. Long wait times for food and drink, coupled with the high-prices and indifferent staff really soured our experience.
At the finale, when the waiter asked how much I would like to add for tip (propina), I responded I wished to add 10%. Upon reviewing the amount before authorization, I noticed he input the amount as 20%. When I challenged him on this, he was quiet argumentative and resentful.
While we were really looking forward to this place, I would bot recommend returning, save for drinks or the nightclub.
Buen lugar
Meal was great. Lounge was terrifying in the structural sense, wobbled when we danced.
Great food, amazing service, beautiful ambiance! !!
It is def a must see place when in Tulum. Food was good but nothing made it a must come back to. Please do not get me wrong- food was fresh, taste was good, and visually appealing but nothing that would make me have to come back with urgency. Drinks were great! Ambiance was great! Service was great! I would come back for drinks.
El lugar está bonito pero Esta tan obscuro que no se ve la comida, la tienes que alumbrar con el celular. Es más un buen bar antro que un restaurante.
Gitano is overpriced for the quality of food not impressed.
Went to Gitano, Tulum for my birthday. The ambiance was great! Loved the setup and very relaxed vibe. The service was ok. Our server was always missing. The food was just ok. Overpriced yet not delicious. My drink was amazing!
Special occasion but never noticed despite being told before......
My husband and I started our Tulum stay eating here and it was superb. The ceviche is delectable and we both swooned over the guava cheesecake!
cant say i would have to go
Restaurant staff took a very long time to take orders and seemed in off mood.
Execellent food. The chorizo lettuce wraps were delicious, best chorizo ever. The cocktails are delicious. The ambiance was a beautiful experience. We are for sure coming back!
Amazing food and the ambiance is perfect. Live music to dance
Nice food, good service and setting.
Incredible food, really cool vibe and look, great party in the back
I just visited Tulum for the first time and made a reservation at Gitano months prior to my trip. It lived up to the reviews I had read online and then some! It was AMAZING! Not only is it a beautiful restaurant but the food was out of this world and the service was incredible. We had the tuna tostadas, the avocado & chili sauce appetizer, the brisket tacos and various cocktails. They were all delicious and I would definitely go back to this restaurant. Highly recommended for your time in Tulum!
