Night out with the wife to enjoy live music by Shay Skylar. Although there was significant noise from a common area just outside the restaurant’s patio where children were playing distracting from an enjoyable atmosphere.
We were looking for someplace new and found this wonderful restaurant. From the moment we arrived, throughout the total meal, the food, including the presentation of the food was stellar.
We would definately come back.
The food was excellent along with the service; highly recommended.
Food was delicious. The meatballs were amazing. The lasagna had just the right about if tang in the marinara sauce. Wonderful atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night and sat on the patio. There was a wonderful musician playing which made it a little bit loud. But when he did not play it was very peaceful and quiet. I will definitely be back.
Giaola Italian Kitchen was a lovely place for a Friday night date night! We got the caprese wraps appetizer, pasta carbonara, Scarface pizza, and a Negroni. The food was all delicious but the pizza was probably our favorite! The carbonara was really yummy; it had a strong black pepper “aftertaste” after every bite, so if that isn’t something you’d like, that dish might not be for you. There was also live music in the back courtyard which was a nice reminder of pre-pandemic days. We’ll be coming back for sure!
Loved Alex Elizabeth singing and playing guitar. Food was ok.
I went to have dinner with a friend and we had the best calamari ever. And try their home made bread ... its so good.
Bryce the bartender was awesome!! The bar is really cool so we opted to eat there instead of table we reserved. The food was amazing!! Beef carpaccio and chicken piccata some of the best ever. Huge beer selection, decent wine selection and great drinks. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend!! Thanks Bryce!!
Out of bottled water, No fish special, artichoke was undercooked. No masks on staff. limited menu and not very Italian. This from a first generation Italian. Overall not worth it.
Love this restaurant, especially on weekend evenings when there is music! Food is delicious- especially the lasagna which I have leftover after salad and bread
This has become a staple for us when dining out, we can always count on the quality, great staff and entertainment.
My wife and I were very pleased when we walked into the restaurant. It was very attractive and the patio area was quite large and also attractive. However, like many restaurants today, there were not enough servers and our service was slow. The menu was attractive with may options, but the food did not live up to the menu. The carbonara was bland and the noodles glued together - very disappointing. My wife's chicken was better but overwhelmed by the pasta which seemed more like the main dish instead of a side dish. I understand the service issue with the difficulty in getting employees, but was hoping the food would live up to the appearance and atmosphere of the restaurant, which unfortunately it did not.
Love the live music! Love sittings at the marble lit bar. Bryse at the bar is the best!!
Nice music, tasty meal, and good service. Outside seating was available with nice spacing.
Bryce the bartender was awesome! Great place for happy hour in Bressi Ranch.
Food was kind of tasteless it’s all too open not cozy didn’t find it a comfortable Or inviting place
Solid Italian style food with a focused menu. I enjoyed the lasagna and my wife enjoyed her pasta with meatballs. I sampled her pasta and it was cooked a bit past al dente. Lots of wines to sample including Italian wines. They were out of the super Tuscan on the evening we were there but the alternate choices were fine. Bottom line: solid experience but not spectacular.
Great place for brunch or dinner. I have been for both. Reasonable prices. The zucchini and carmelized onion frittata was amazing, so light and fluffy. Six folks at dinner with each extremely pleased with their entree.
I really wanted to enjoy this place but it was so bad. Our server took 30 minutes to get our drinks, didn’t bring bread until we had our main courses already and the food was just ok.
The food was very good; I had chicken piccata which was delicious and friends had a garden pizza which they liked. It looked great. Our waiter seemed a bit frenzied and we had to wait quite a while for boxes and our bill, until I finally tracked him down and asked for them. Also, the music was really too loud, although it was just one person and she was a very good and capable musician.
I would certainly go back for the food and maybe request a different seat in the restaurant if there's music. Hopefully service will sort itself out, too, given more time.
Live music on the patio was great but the bar had radio tunes playing over top of the performance.
We have heard many people say bad things about this place but we finally decided to give it a shot. Well, they did not impress and now we agree with what we have been told by friends.
We will never be back at this place!
Never greeted by anyone after sitting for 10 minutes. Bar tender made eye contact a couple times and continued to help other people coming into the restaurant. This place will not get another chance from us, there’s too many great Italian restaurants around here!
This was a lovely place. The waiter was new and sweet. The food was utterly pedestrian. I
Glad I tried it. Will not be going back. Olive Garden quality Italian food. Nothing special but service was a plus.
The food and service was fantastic
Need to lower the volume a bit on the music though , so we can talk while dining , very important. Less is more in that venue all the singers we’ve heard are fantastic, just a bit too loud
4% added to every bill that doesn’t go to the staff.
Live music on the patio very nice, food not well executed
Always great service & great food! We had the lasagna & chopped salad.
There were two other couples there; overpiced food and great service.
Food and service was outstanding! I feel like we will become regulars!
lasagna is tasty.
canoli is what we expected it to be.
servings were generous.
Great pizza! Nice patio but live entertainment during happy hour was loud which made it hard to have conversation.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego! Best lasagna, that parallels my 100% Italian Mama’s lasagna. Always great service & great food! For lunch had the caprese bruschetta, grilled artichoke and lasagne. So divine! We even talked about staying or coming back for dinner! Five stars all the way!
Ambiance is great with live music. We were seated at a table that was not assigned to any waiter. Their waiters need lots of training. The kitchen ran out of fettuccine and instead of asking the guest if we still wanted the dish, they sent the dish with another pasta. I ordered the carbonara, I had to send it back, the pasta was overcooked. The second one was so terrible, I only had a couple of bites. We eat at restaurants at least 3 times a week. This restaurant has the worst food and service we ever experienced
It was a lovely evening; nice mellow music, food was fantastic...superb!
This was very middle of the road, generic italian food. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was good. I just don’t see this as a top choice for italian food.
We have dined at Giaolas in the past, and have had wonderful experiences. The staff has been knowledgeable, attentive, the food fantastic. However, this last experience was less than optimal, and far below the previous dining experiences. We ordered drinks - over 15 minutes to get them to the table (bar was 10 feet away). Ordered the Fresh Burrata for an appetizer. When my other half bit into it, it completely broke apart, and landed on her, and the table - you can probably appreciate that she was not a happy camper about that. Main Course: She ordered the Chicken Piccata with Lemon sauce. This dish was more lemon sauce then not (way too lemony), and was served warm, although the food runner exclaimed that the plate was hot. When she tested the plate it was not hot at all. Not sure where the "hot plate" exclamation came from. I had the steak special, it was ok, but not anything I would order again. With the new garage doors open (both front parking lot facing doors), the restaurant was very breezy, she had to put on her coat and scarf. When the bill arrived, Communications with our server was problematic, and at the end of the meal, when I asked about the 4% surcharge (do not recall this from previous dining) the server said it was to assist the community. Then, the "4%" blurb caught my eye, and I read it, then, read it out loud to him. No light bulb went on, so I asked if he could read it (receipt was at the end of the roll, so not sure if in the light, he could see it clearly), so I read it back to him, and explained that the 4% was supporting/offsetting the CA Minimum Wage increase - not giving back to the community.
We will wait a bit before coming back - as the experience was not the best. Not sharking for a free meal here - just honest feedback to what was once a wonderful neighborhood restaurant.
Thanks - r/bruce
Start with impossible parking, 30 minutes to get a “smoked old fashion” that equated to a lukewarm glass of bourbon with undiluted sugar on the bottom of the glass. The house salad came straight from a bag of spring mix and a dressing that literally had NO flavor of any kind. We got the Artichoke appetizer and they removed the heart, tough and flavorless however it was not edible so it was just a waste of money. Over an hour later the Entrees came out. Absolutely consistent with everything else... awful. First time in my life I turned down taking home my uneaten half of my lasagna, or should I say lasagna soup. I look forward to the restaurant that takes over this inviting space, I would guess within a couple of months at that most. Apart from that I loved the company of my wife.
Wow - the food, staff & atmosphere was amazing. This is a hidden gem!
Great outdoor patio. Live guitarist/vocalist added nice touch. Our server was very good.
My partner enjoyed his cheese ravioli and bruschetta. My Minestrone soup was good but not hot. Herb prawns were large but tough and risotto it was served on was too heavy on sauce.
We will return and try other items.
