Enjoyed Restaurant Week menu with wine pairings on 8/1/21.
Good dinner but not up to our expectations. Excellent server though.
Anniversary champagne was very nice touch. Fried oysters were perfect.
The atmosphere was lovely and the wait staff was excellent. I enjoyed the chicken and the Boardwalk crab cake that came on the Tilghman Island platter . The potato salad tasted like boiled potatoes with green peppers tossed in mayonnaise. The green beans were stringy and bland. I had to pull strings from my mouth because I couldn't swallow them. The " I can't believe it's not crab" cake had a dark color to it as if it was deep fried in old grease. The presentation was horrible. There was too much seewees and ot tasted like old fish. The brussel sprouts were amazing. Desert was freshly made peach upside down cake with vanilla icecream. I ate the whole thing!
Selected restaurant week menu. Peach arugula salad excellent. Deviled eggs very good but too few (3 halves). Spouse loved Tilghman island platter but my seafood succotash risotto was too bland and too large a portion. Loved the peach upside down cake and Gertrudes candy bar. Accompanying wine excellent choices. View of sculpture garden and jazz music created perfect ambiance.
Great atmosphere. Tasty food. John Shields was there and he was very pleasurable. Awesome time
A "Restaurant Week" Treasure! Great food, great ambiance, friendly staff! Perfect for "Date Night!" We visited the Sculpture Gardens of the museum before dinner, and that made the experience even more enjoyable! Lovely!
We were so looking forward to a great evening at Gertrude’s. We were warmly greeted when we arrived and shown to the table we had requested when we made our reservation. Pilar, our server, came right over and asked if we wanted to order drinks. We wanted a few minutes to look over the menu, which she said was fine. We all decided to do the Restaurant Week menu with the wine pairings. They immediately brought over their famous corn roll and hot muffin. We were off to good start. For our appetizer, we had two Grilled Peach and Arugula salads paired with Schumann Nagler Reisling and one Chesapeake Deviled Eggs paired with Tiamo Pinot Grigio. We all liked our appetizers especially the deviled eggs – they were really different and delicious.
All three of us thought the Miss Alice’s Tilghman Island Platter paired with Antech Chardonnay sounded the best of the entrees. I do not care for Chardonnay, so Pilar very kindly switched me to a Pinot Grigio. This is where things started to go downhill. Maybe there was not enough staff to attend properly to the dining guests needs? The fried chicken and crab cake were overdone, Ed’s Country Potato Salad had green, red and yellow peppers in it (which my husband cannot eat), the slow-braised green beans had an over-powering spice. The buttermilk biscuit was definitely not light and flaky.
We had a hard time getting the attention of our server after our dinners were served. Our water glasses went unfilled until we caught her attention. The best part of the meal for my husband and I was the Baltimore Peach Upside Down Cake with vanilla ice cream paired with Quady Winery “Essencia” Orange Muscat. It was loaded with flavor and just delicious. Our friend was served the wine pairing of Graham’s Fine Tawny Port to go with Gertrude’s Candy Bar. However she was very disappointed when Pilar told her that they no longer had the Gertrude’s Candy Bar left. She settled for some chocolate ice cream. We all felt that the service
Server was wonderful. Food was delicious as always. Love the Candy Bar!
Just the ambiance alone ♥️ always makes Gertrude’s a wonderful dinner spot and I ate inside! I was alone so I love the tables by the bar ~ cozy and comfortable. Service always great ~ Jae is always attentive and warm
Food - delicious Had a surprising Cali cab for the $ - went right out and purchased several bottles
Pleasant, emphasis on Bay are cuisine. Details of dishes were fine with custom attention. Obviously, crab is important here but there are other choices.
Food, delicious as usual-watermelon gazpacho, exceptional! May have been an off day, but our server was not up to Gertrude standard. Would never keep me away, meeting friends again on Sunday!
Always exceptional; never disappoints!
The food tasted better than I even remember!! I asked for a table with a view and I was greeted with , "We have a table with a view for you". How nice!!
Gertrude's offers a unique venue in the Baltimore Art Museum for lunch or dinner. The menu is very interesting and the ambiance is great.
Our foursome already love Gertrude’s and they did not disappoint. Food and service were the best!
Everything was perfect Wait staff, location, food, company
Was a most enjoyable time. We are planning our next visit.
One of the steak frites was tough and inedible.
No complaint was voiced until we had left the
I enjoyed my dining experience at Gertrude's. The service and food was great. The white linen tablecloths, live flowers on the table and linen napkins, make the ambience factor delightful. I ordered salmon and it was cooked to perfection. I would definitely go again.
An outside birthday brunch with my family (3 adults) was lovely. Shaded outdoor seating with a view of the sculpture garden and excellent food and service. We will return for sure. All meals were delicious.
I was disappointed. My reservation was at 2pm and I was told that I had to order within 15 minutes because the kitchen was closing for a private event. I felt rushed, and should of been advised of the event prior to my reservation I was not. Also, there were a lot of flies. I couldn’t enjoy my food with flies constantly flying around. I was disappointed with my first visit.
This was my first time at Gertrude’s and I was super impressed with the whole experience. Our server, Jae, was fantastic - friendly, helpful, fun, professional, knowledgeable about the menu - he was just great. And the food, I got the shrimp quiche, was also fantastic. The salad was fresh, and the goat cheese cheesecake with cherry compote was out of this world. We’re already planning our next visit.
I came here for restaurant week with my partner and we had a great time. Service was good, food was great and it was overall a great experience. We will likely return for a special occasion.
Gertrudes continues to shine. Food, service, ambience — all first rate. The sculpture garden setting is a beautiful backdrop to the consistently good food and drinks. So glad Gertrudes survived the pandemic!
We hadn't known it was restaurant week and were pleasantly surprised to have three courses for the price of one. Delicious and a great value!
Catching up with old friends after 16 months and of course, enjoying the Baltimore Museum of Art together
Very nice setting, relaxed but sophisticated. I like the creative menu. The wine list, while not overly extensive or ambitious is very fairly priced and one can find good options. Worth a return visit (I had not been there for over a year).
Dinner was delicious especially the grilled peach salmon and the salmon dish
Great place for outdoor dining in the beautiful gardens.
We ate outside in the beautiful sculpture garden. All was excellent!!
Always fresh, always Maryland, always a little surprising. Consistently good.
We loved it. First time visiting and will definitely be back sooner than later.
Food - delicious!
Drinks- very good!
This restaurant was absolutely stunning. My party and I enjoyed lunch outside in the garden area. It was a beautiful view and the food was delicious.
I usually don’t leave reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Gertrudes. The service was great. I was running a few minutes behind because finding parking can be a hassle. But overall everything went well. Food was amazing. Pricing was reasonable. Will definitely be coming back!
We had a good meal with an attentive server. We enjoyed our lunch!
I will proudly recommend Gerturde’s and I’m definitely coming back
We were seated on time which is an indication of a well run restaurant.
Food was well prepared, presented nicely, and very flavorful.
Only downside was a biscuit served with dinner was hard and dry. Easily prevented with the cornbread rolls served at the beginning.
The tables were not spaced out well enough for appropriate social distancing. The dining room was packed with patrons. It was also a little too loud for easy conversation.
