Gaylord Restaurant - London calificaciones y reseñas
So it was friday evening last minute decision. We wanted indian and we had no clue where to go. While looking through the apps for best near me, we found Gaylord. The reviews attracted us big time. We got there and the place in terms of setup was way nicer than what we expected it. Directly seated for 4, even though super busy but we got a booking through open table. The service was great and the welcoming was very nice. Got our drinks wine and beer. Asked for 4 starters including the crab cake, samosa, potatoe cake, scallops, all were great top 2 were samosa and potato. We asked for nan and lamb and chiken curry for mains with steamed rice and rice with lemon. All were very tasty and big portions. Not to forget the dips we got served in the beginning. There was no more room for dessert at all! It was a 38.5 bill per person eventually which is great. Would come back.
I had never heard of this restaurant but booked it regardless of reading a few negative reviews. I was pleasantly surprised, the service was exceptional. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were ok, water was topped up and tables were cleared on time.
Our naan was a bit too crispy which we mentioned and they replaced it straight away with piping hot soft one.
We didn't stay for dessert as we were quite filled up from starters and mains.
A very enjoyable experience and would visit again in the future.
I am a vegetarian so consider my comments for Veg food only.
The place is good but a bit miss leading (particularly for the deal they offered on opentable). As soon as we got the table, waiter suggested the deal which is offered (3 course meal) is not good specially if you are vegetarian. He said the portions you will get will be very small in this deal. Overall he made us confused and we end up ordering from Ala Carte Menu.
The starters were very good however main course was not as great. Overall we thought the food was not value for money.
Overall its not ideal that you offer a deal and when someone enter the place (on a special occasion) you make them confused. if you are not convinced by your deal, do not offer it at first place.
Gaylord's website still lists a Theatre menu, but they told us they stopped offering it last year. They even discouraged us from a current set menu, denigrating its choices. In the end, instead of a set menu advertised at £14.95. we ended up paying £64.75 for two of us, plus a 12.5% service charge, a total of £72.84 for just two main courses a, a bottle of water, some poppadoms, one ice cream and one coffee. In addition to the cover charge all the ancillary items are overpriced. Good quality, well prepared food, helpful service, but unacceptable pricing policies.
London has a lot of Indian Restaraunts. I find this one very good as I am not an Indian food expert, I can't compare too many. One of my other favorites is no longer in business. The staff has great suggestions and every time I come to london I try to stop here. The food is fresh, interesting and delicious. Atmosphere is warm and cozy. I love the murals.
Quiet and the menu is somewhat confusing price wise...But the food is certainly delicious and authentic. It's quiet at lunchtime despite it's proximity to Oxford Circus. But this means you get to relax in an oasis of calm and eat good food. Certainly would recommend. Their lunchtime specials are quite decent if you're looking for authentic Indian food that is tasty.
The staff is excellent and they made us feel special from the start. The ambience is very comfortable and the quality of food is very good. I would say one of the best Indian restaurants in London. For us it was a Birthday celebration and the staff made it special by providing on-the-house bday candle and excellent dessert. To conclude, Poppadum, Golgappa and Vodka shots along with Hyderabadi Biriyani and mixed platter - out of the world, really. Thank you for entertaining us.
My friend and I visited the restaurant based on some recommendations of friends.
Unfortunately, the starters and mains were not nice at all. Furthermore, the Vodka & Tonics we ordered seemed suspiciously weak. Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen, but we were not impressed.
Was a last minute choice booked 45min in advance via OpenTable app. Which was great that worked well. Great staff, friendly and not looking to rush you unlike most London restaurants who want to claim the table back for another sitting. The food was outstanding. Comfortable surrounding, totally recommended.
This restaurant came highly recommended by an acquaintance and did not disappoint. Everything we ate was delicious--definitely try the black dal (lentils), a house specialty! We were there on a weeknight at 7:30, the restaurant was moderately busy, and the service was outstanding --attentive, helpful in response to our questions, and neither hurried nor slow. I will definitely return.
A friend with his family was visiting from Australia. We were looked after very graciously and personally. The food was well loved by everyone with an equal spread of veggies and non veggies amongst us. Thanks to Gaylord staff for a great evening.
The food quality has deteriorated a lot since we were there last.
The food didn't seem very fresh!!
The service was terrible!! The waiter seemed distracted all the time. Starts to take order then s colleague interrupts him and he hands over without any apology!!! Reaches over the the table to reach the other side. Pretty unprofessional!!!!
I had the Maharani set meal. It was not special at all.
My husband had the Maharaja set meal and did not enjoy it at all!!
Our visit was on a Monday evening so there were few diners. The menu is extensive but the service felt oppressive e.g. trying to get us to buy more drinks whilst we were only just starting the first. The food was mixed quality and some of the vegetarian options overpriced for what they were. We wouldn't go again owing to the service and overall lack of ambience. Not good value.
This classic London Indian establishment still is worth a visit. The food is better than you'd get at Brick Lane, but with the premium of better location and name brand recognition. The tandoori meats and lamb shank were the evening's favourites.
Gaylord's has amazing food but is spoiled by the geriatric atmosphere compounded with elevator music. A refurbishment and a change of vibe would see this restaurant double their business.
The tandoor food is melt in your mouth tasty and the vegetarian dishes are complex with a nice mix of spices. Delicious!
But unit the ambience changes, I think we will have delivery
First and foremost, I was surprised to receive a mail from you saying that I had not attended the restaurant. This sets the tone for what was to follow. The restaurant was not busy there were several empty tables and for Sunday dinner, I thought this very unusual.
Service was very clinical, poorly trained staff who did not understand what the client needs. Except for two individual, the staff as all non-Indian with no knowledge of the Indian cuisine. Request for a simple A4 paper as we wanted to jot few things down took the entire evening to arrive-almost three hours.
Food was of an inferior quality with not much to select for a vegetarian palate.
The couple next to our table had problems with his drinks and was created a racket- may be they were right but it is not expected of this restaurant. I am not sure if the management has changed, but the attitude towards India clientele was something not experienced by me before. It was almost discriminatory, whether this was specific for me or is the general pattern remains to be confirmed.
Overall experience not worth visiting again and especially if you are an India!!!!
First time visit to the Gaylord and very enjoyable it was. Certainly nothing like the Indian you would see in Brick Lane so don't expect to see your usual Madras, Vindaloo or Dansak dishes on the menu. This was more Benares type but cheaper.
I've been here a fair few times and my last visit was a bit of a disappointment compared to the awesome experience other times. I've usually gone at quiet times and the food and service have been great.
This occasion, it was busy and the waiting stay made it quite evident they wanted us out quickly to the point we were asked to order food straight away with the drinks as they wanted to give the table to someone else after us. In addition, the food did seem it was rushed up, not as great as usual. The one of the waiting staff poured water in the wine, didn't even show courtesy to ask to replace it.
Having given a poor review, I would still recommend as the food is authentic, just avoid busy times.
